crossover Star Wars: RE-CAST! (A Round Robin Fan-Fiction Challenge Thread!)
Flight Risk posted a topic in Written Fan Works
Star Wars: RE-CAST! - A Round Robin Fan-Fiction What we will be doing: We will be taking the longstanding script of Star Wars and making out own little creative edits to it. How, you ask? We will be recasting the Titular Characters with ones from other sources of fiction of course! Imagine if Anakin Skywalker were instead Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender? How would that alter things in the storyline? We could of course try to keep true to the whole “Anakin falls to the dark side over time” and still “romances Padme” while letting our own creative influence flow over the work in its entirety. What is a “Round Robin”? A “Round Robin” is a story that multiple authors participate in. This ranges from chapters, to stories, and most times, little collaboration on an overall storyline. Surprises await at every corner! How will we do it: Simple. I will be posting the first “chapter” and it will only encompass a small area of the story. A few scenes here and there. Then, whoever is interested in taking the story over from that point will voice their interest in this thread by saying “I will take Chapter 2! Or Chapter 3!” And each person will be given their scenes in which to use for their chapters. Some simple rules to follow: Please only post your chapter once you have been approved to do so. You have as much time to work on it as possible. New chapters won't be given out until a prior chapter is posted. Don't be greedy and let other authors try their hands at it. We're looking for both inexperienced and skilled writers for this. Do not change characters another author has selected! Do your best to write for the characters provided. HOWEVER, if in your chapter a new character is introduced, feel free to replace the CANON characters with whomever you like! As this is a challenge and an exercise for all of us, we must keep what we are given and add where we are able. If someone has already introduced Fluttershy as Yoda then that is how it shall remain throughout the story (and coincidentally all of the films, if we make it that far. We can hope so!) Keep your characters “in-character” while being “in-character”. Confused? My apologies. In the previous example, Fluttershy need not speak in riddles. She might still retain a lot of her “shy, adorable” qualities while still attempting to be a mentor to other Characters. Follow the format! The format will be as such and placed at the beginning of each chapter: Chapter Author: (This will be your username of course) Previous Chapter Author: (The author of the previous Chapter) Original Cast Introduced: (Original characters from the scene) Replacement Cast Introduced: (Characters replacing those in the above- mentioned spot) (Do try to keep them in order) Replacement Cast Info: (Links to an informational page regarding the new characters so other writers can understand how they may act.) Be courteous to your fellow writers! We'll be working on this together. Don't force the character to run away or get killed just because you don't approve of it personally. Give it a shot! We'll see where it goes and enjoy it! If you don't know how the character would act, just do your best! This is an exercise in creative and spontaneous writing! Have fun! That's why we're doing it. We're not going for a prize, we're not doing it to get published, we're doing it for fun. Enjoy writing and enjoy being part of a magnificent team of writers whose skills vary from novice to experienced! How do we get started: As I have mentioned earlier, I will post the first chapter. Then, whomever posts their interest to take on the next chapter will receive a message from me with what their chapter should encompass. Your chapters can always include as much as you want to, but they must never jump ahead in the story to a point in someone else's chapter. Use your fellow writers' previous chapter as an example and go from there. Wherever your scene ends, make sure to wrap up your chapter appropriately. I will be here to field any questions we may have about the process~!-

IC as Cerebella Gotham, Rooftop, Night "I actually agree with Revan." Cerebella spoke up as she stepped forward, eyeing the larger of her companions. "But what if they run into trouble? I'm not saying that those who are going to the blimp can't handle themselves..." She said as she looked both Revan and Sly over. "But I'm thinking that a little extra muscle couldn't hurt." As if to emphasize her point, her hat Vice-Versa flexed and proceeded to lift Cerebella off the ground by walking on its palms towards the metallic fire escape. She returned to her feet as the massive hands flexed and cracked its nonexistent knuckles, gripping the ladder to wrench it free of the wall. In moments, Vice had crumpled up the entire metallic fire escape into a compact ball of sorts. It effortlessly tossed it back and forth between its palms while she spoke. "I think I should go with them." TAG: Exiles - * - * - * - * - IC as Robin Gotham, Rooftop, Night Robin seemed very skeptical about bringing Harley to the Batcave. "Well, sure if that's what you really want. But you guys gotta put these on first..." Robin reached into his belt to pull out a few strands of cloth. Blindfolds. "You didn't think I'd let you know where it is, did you?" He smirked, seeming rather cocky in this assumption. He was getting ready to see which team was going to which area, noticing a familiar form glide down towards the rooftop they were on. "Hey Robin! Are these the people you've been talking to?" A redheaded female in dark garb asked, looking the strangers over. "I'm Batgirl. Robin's unofficial babysitter." She chuckled, cockily placing her hands on her hips. "I'll go with the group headed to the blimp. I wanna see if there's any information on where the Scarecrow is hiding now. Think you can handle taking a few of those guys to the 'Cave?" The girl reached into her own utility belt and procured a few small devices, much like the one Robin used. "Here, you guys take these. I didn't get to my dad in time, so I had a few extras..." "I don't need a babysitter!" Robin replied, being within his early teens and likely old enough to protest the statement. "I'll take 'em there no problem. We may need a ride though..." He said, eyeing Megatron. "Think you could give us a lift, big guy?" TAG: Megatron, Exiles OOC: And ladies and gentlemen: Batgirl! -

IC as Robin, Cerebella Gotham, Rooftop, Night Robin eyed Harley with suspicion as well, thinking that she may have been part of what brought these strangers to Gotham. He took a step back from her and reached into his belt. “You really wanna know huh?” He didn't see any harm in it, seeing as he had been taught by Batman that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. “I'm not down there screaming with the help of one of these,” He explained as he slid an extra one from his own utility belt. It was a small device that looked to be nothing more than a small, plastic horseshoe. Robin pointed to his mouth. “It's a respirator that Batman designed to filter out airborne toxins. Unfortunately I've only got one extra.” He stated, a frown crossing his face as he seemed to be lost in thought for a moment. He looked over the Exiles and wondered how this many strangers could show up all at once. “You don't wanna go down there. The toxin itself is so dense that it's settled in the lower parts of Gotham.” He hopped down from a ledge and joined the strangers fully. “I'm definitely not working for the Scarecrow. Though he's not alone...” Robin explained. “Bru—I mean uh, Batman has a pretty extensive catalog on the Scarecrow's toxins, but that would mean I'd have to take you all to the Batcave.” He eyed Harley again suspiciously. “As far as I know, this hallucinogen is stronger than any he's made before. It apparently 'makes nightmares come alive'.” He shifted his gaze from Cecil to Bayonetta. “A short fat man? The Penguin?” He shook his head. That didn't make sense. Penguin never had any sort of dimension-hopping abilities. “Since the city has already been coated, the blimp itself is pretty useless. I think he just uses it to observe the city...” Robin pointed over to where Megatron had blown up a building. “I'll have to get down there and make sure those people are alright....” “<They're fine, Tim. Just find out who those people are and what they want here... I've got things handled down here...>” Came a female voice over his own communicator. “Good! Alright then...” He looked to all the strangers and cleared his throat. “You haven't attacked me yet so I'm going to assume that with Harley here you're 'friendly'.” He said as he was amazed at such a ragtag group of people had come together on one rooftop. “The Scarecrow's whereabouts are unknown right now. He's already hit a few of the banks in Gotham, but he's been quiet the last two days. I think he's planning something... something BIG.” “Um, I don't want to seem rude...” Cerebella spoke up. “... But it seems you've got a history with Harley.” Cerebella stated as she looked back to the girl who also looked like she belonged in the circus. “Is she from this reality as well? A hero too?” TAG: Exiles OOC: I feel like I don't post as Cerebella enough XD -

IC as ??? Gotham, Rooftop, Night "Umm, that's not exactly accurate." A voice called out from the rooftop near the other Exiles. A young boy, probably bordering on teenager. He stood up and hopped down from a nearby building to the shared rooftop of the others. "Scarecrow used a blimp to coat the entire city. As ironic as it seems, he crop-dusted all of Gotham." The preteen looked at the others curiously, having overheard the conversations the two Exiles, Megatron and Sly were having through their strange devices via the other Talluses. "The name's Robin. And who exactly are you guys?" TAG: Everyone OOC: I noticed we jumped ahead. I know everyone is excited to get things going but maybe we could backtrack juuuust a little? The world won't be fashioned to be fixed so easily and while a "zombie" assumption could be the case, it's not in this instance. My fault for not updating sooner, I suppose. -

IC as Cerebella She watched as others approached the chest and contemplated what the Timebroker had told her. Was it true? It had to be if she was here, right? She shook her head and looked up at her partner. “Well Vice? Now would be no time to stop the show, eh?” The girl smiled and sauntered towards the chest, hips swaying as she bent over semi-flirtatiously as she rummaged through the chest with one hand. She pulled out the trinket: a badge with a fishbone emblem upon it. Instantly, she felt a pang of regret. Her eyes went up to the Timebroker as she clutched the badge to her chest. “If we succeed, you could take us back to any point in our timeline?” She asked, looking to those who were to be part of her “troupe” as it were. Harley and Sly seemed to fit in nicely with some sort of circus theme of course, but that was just Cerebella's own casual observation. TAG: None really IC as The Timebroker The short man gave a slow nod as he watched the eight individuals select their devices, seemingly paying no mind to where they had placed them. He then spoke once again, fielding the final questions. “Yes Cerebella, I could return you to any point in your own timeline should the others be repaired.” His gaze shifted from Sly, Harley, and Megatron as a soft chuckle escaped him, humored slightly by their actions. His attention was then drawn to Cecil. “The Tallus will speak to each of you, communicating as a whole for the most part. You may ask it questions regarding your current mission and it will be able to provide guidance, but will not be able to solve the problems without your interaction. When a mission starts, the Tallus will glow.” And as if emphasizing the tubby mans point, the Talluses did just that. “Once they begin glowing, they will teleport you to the affected reality. Once there, it will brief you of the status of the world and what needs to be done. Once your objective (or objectives) are completed, the Tallus will glow once more and the process repeats itself.” He smirked at Bayonetta. “The Tallus is merely a tool. When is the last time you've witnessed a screwdriver having some temporal significance?” The man jested, as if hinting to an inside joke. "Alright, then," he started, "good luck to you all." And before anyone could react, a pinkish portal, exactly like the one that brought them all here, appeared above each one of them. There was a BLINK and the Tallus' activated the teleportation simultaneously for each person... Chapter 1: Rock-A-Bye Batty - - - The new team of heroes now found themselves atop a large rooftop. The city below was shrouded in an eerie fog. The city itself seemed to be... deserted. All would have been quiet if not for the panicked screams of many people within the city itself. Cars littered the streets. Car alarms echoed in the distance. The fog shrouded much of the city, keeping whatever what on the ground fairly out of sight. The Tallus that each person carried actually spoke to them...with a voice. Yes, there was a voice coming out of the talisman. Simultaneously, the Tallus' said almost in an echo: Gotham City. Earth. 1995. Mere days ago the Scarecrow, criminal mastermind and enemy of Gotham's protector Batman, unleashed a horrible airborne hallucinogen all over Gotham City in an attempt to gain control and incapacitate the Batman. Despite his best efforts, the Dark Knight had been ill-prepared for this surprise assault on his city and has succumbed to the effects of the hallucinogen himself... Not only has the hero of Gotham fallen prey to this toxin, but all of Gotham now lives in constant fear of their own nightmares as they seemingly become real before their eyes. The Scarecrow continues to maintain his veritable stranglehold on the psyches of Gotham's residents while dubbing himself “Prince of Nightmares”. You must help the citizens of Gotham find a cure for this toxin and defeat the Scarecrow before he unleashes his hallucinogen on the rest of the world... All the Tallus' powered down after the explanation for this mission. OOC: I had this idea for awhile, long before we had Harley Quinn in our group. She may know a little about this subject, considering she came from a similar universe. And we all jumped simultaneously. No one is left at the End Of Time. We're all here in Gotham. Any questions about any of this so far? Please PM me. -

You wouldn't be cutting in, I assure you. After all, he did address everyone. And again, since when did Harley ever worry about cutting into a conversation? I thought she had a special set of gag scissors for just such occasions! -

No worries! I'll do my best to make sure that everyone keeps up in some fashion (usually a single post of the Timebroker should do it) though if you want, you could communicate with Cerebella and we could go back and forth that way if you prefer. -

IC as The Timebroker The End of Time "Indeed, Sly Cooper. While individually you all possess skills of varying degrees in which to get the job done, this monumentous task cannot be accomplished by just one person alone." The man smiled at the thief, motioning towards the chest of Talluses. "The choice is yours." The Timebroker sighed as he heard Revan's request and shook his head. "Sadly, I can't guarantee that until a majority of these 'kinks' are taken care of. As it stands, you're already dead in her reality, Revan." The short man tried his best to explain, knowing that perhaps the Sith needed a bit more of an incentive. "I can however, offer you this..." He motioned above them and almost as if playing a clip over-and-over, a glimpse of the Jedi Exile could be seen. She, along with her Jedi companions, move about within the Academy on Telos. "It is but a glimpse of the reality in which you are from. If I were to send you there now, later, or at any point while these realities remain in disarray, your fate would not change. Though, even if your missions are met with success, the chance still exists that you may indeed succumb to the sands of time." TAG: Sly, Revan -

IC as The Timebroker and Cerebella The End of Time The Timebroker remained as even-toned as when he first spoke. As truly impressive and threatening that both a Decepticon and a Sith Lord could be, these things didn't seem to faze the small man in the green vest. "You ask for conditions I may not be able to provide, Revan. But, please, voice them." He continued speaking to those who volunteered. "Being one of these 'heroes' does not entail very much, as you may be surprised to hear. Simply fulfill the mission the Tallus briefs you on to the best of your abilities and repair the reality by doing so. This isn't without its risks of course; the chance exists that each of you could possibly die in these worlds." He knew the news would prove to be rather grim indeed. "Death is inevitable, I'm afraid. It is what humans tend to cling to, correct? The notion of survival no matter the cost?" "We indeed have a deal, Megatron." He spoke of him as an equal among equals, not indicating the Decepticon's rank. "Should you succeed in these repairs, you will be sent back to your own reality and by your strength and intelligence alone, you will surely take your place as leader of your group once again." "Three have offered their aid. Who else perhaps?" He looked to Harley, Cerebella, Bayonetta, Shen, and Sly. "I'm going too!" Cerebella's thoughts drifted to the circus and her close friend, Feng. The acrobat stood next to Megatron's heel and her hat flexed its muscles as if to impress those around her. "I mean, we're going. Right Vice?" The hat once again gave a flex of approval, the massive arms crossing as if waiting for instruction as well. TAG: Exiles -

IC: The Timebroker The short man looked back towards Revan and smiled. "I know a great many things. The Exile is fine, Revan. Unfortunately, she alongside the Jedi she trained were the ones to strike you down. At one time, she may have been a student; a friend; but of course we all know how those disloyal Jedi can be, hmm?" The man eyed Megatron next. "None of you are under any obligation to undertake this task. I can send you back to your home realities and hopefully, for those who choose to stay and complete the task ahead of them, you won't meet the fate that lies in wait for you. Unless you enjoy humoring the idea of becoming scrap metal while Starscream commands in your stead?" The Timebroker had the tendency to be rather persuasive by elective use of the truth. TAG: Revan, Megatron - - - - - IC as Cerebella and the Timebroker A lot was going on around her, so of course she had to get to the bottom of things to stay within the loop. The tall one, the one the small man addressed as Megatron, had mentioned that she had asked a very common question. Upon hearing what likely happened to the others, she was curious as to what happened to her. She kept those wandering thoughts inside, biting her lip nervously. "So what exactly do we have to fix again? Does it involve the Skull Heart?" The Timebroker gave a slight shake of his head. "Only in your reality, my dear. The 'Skull Heart' falls into the wrong hands and the Medici family falls... and you with it." TAG: All nearby -

IC: The Timebroker "Stop this nonsense." As the voice spoke, Megatron's weapons de-powered momentarily, while the Revan's connection to the Force seemed to abruptly disconnect. "You were all brought here to become allies, not enemies." The voice was coming from a little man who seemed to appear out of nowhere. He was about 5 feet tall, chubby, and wearing a green vest over his neatly ironed shirt. And the pink bow-tie seemed to really stand out. He was also balding. He had a little bit of dark hair around the back of his head, stretching from ear to ear, in that `horse shoe` style. Speaking loud enough for even the towering Transformer to hear, he said, "I am the Timebroker. It was I who brought you all here." He paused for a quick moment. "Speaking of `here`, this place, as you may have been wondering, is The End Of Time. It is one of the few places in which all realities meet." He waited another moment until he had everyone's attention. "I have quite a speech here, so listen carefully...and hold your questions until after I'm through." He cleared his throat. "All realities and dimensions are connected. They make up what is known as the `chain of reality`. If a certain event occurs in one of these realities, it will have a ripple effect, travel through the chain, and eventually have an effect on all the other realities. As of late, there have been `kinks` within this chain of reality. We need a group of heroes to fix these kinks before they lead to the destruction of all life as we know it." The little man began pacing as he spoke. "All of you have been selected to travel from reality to reality fixing these problems. And you personally have been selected because of events that have the potential to take place in your realities. For example... Revan, you will meet with the Jedi Exile who proves to be far more than you can handle. In your defeat, the Jedi rise again and continue to protect the galaxy. Not entirely bad, based upon your point of view.. And Megatron, the Autobots will eventually defeat your entire team of Decepticons, reducing you to scrap metal.” The chubby man continued. “Harley, my dear, are left to die as your beloved 'Mistah Jay' leaves you tied up in a blimp in which he implemented to spread 'laughter and joy' across Gotham City. The explosion would have made your death quick and painless. And Cecil, things in Nightvale stretch farther than human imagination would allow. You eventually would wind up in an Asylum... lobotomized.” Though he hadn't addressed all of them, he was sure that he had gotten his point across rather well. He watched the reactions of the people he mentioned. "You will all suffer some sort of horrible fate, whether it be death, living in torture, or having not being born at all. In order to save you from those fates, you have been teleported here. Failure to fix the kinks in these realities means that you will end up with that horrible life...or death." He continued pacing. "You have been given the power to change your own destinies. I highly recommend you take this offer." Knowing there were a million thoughts running through their minds, The Timebroker concluded his speech. "You will all carry a device with you called The Tallus." He reached behind his back and revealed a large, golden bracelet with an oval-shaped jewel in the center of it. He slipped it over his hand and up past his wrist. The Tallus was so large that it covered most of his forearm. "These Tallus' come in all shapes and sizes to properly fit your preference. Bracelets, gauntlets, microchips, necklaces, key chains, whatever. This is what will guide you through dimensions. It will tell you what the situation is and what you must do to complete the mission." He stepped aside and, appearing behind him, was an extremely large chest. The lid was open, and inside were different shaped Tallus'. "Pick which ever one you want." "Remember," The Timebroker added, "you have been specifically selected to save the universe from collapsing on itself. You are now part of a team that will inevitably become the greatest group of heroes through all of time." He slipped the Tallus off of his arm and tossed it back into the chest with the others. “I can now field any questions you may have.” TAG: Sly, Megatron, Bayonetta, Revan, Cecil, Cerebella, Harley, Shen -

I have to agree. As much as I hate to do it, I'm going to have to cap the game right now. The roster thus far is very large, so I will have to accept sheets on a "first come" basis. If for any reason a current player cannot play anymore (drops out, loses interest, character dies, etc), then we will fill their spots with other interested parties. It's just so hard to say "no"...
