I don't usually listen to my own music at the gym, I just listen to whatever radio station happens to be playing (it changes regularly for some reason but it is usually the same sort of stuff: high energy mainstream pop/rap/edm and sometimes a station that plays more old school "hip hop" kinda stuff such as Missy Elliot, Craig David, Nelly etc. Sometimes there is stuff I don't like (in my case, nicki minaj!) that will come on but I just kinda power through my work out and ignore it xD
If given the choice or if I decide to try and workout at home, I like to put on some edm, dubstep sorta music though I don't mind pop music. Ellie Goulding dubstep remixes are usually a go to or failing that, Pendulum
