A handful of unicorns aside, ponies are shit at combat. You'd be better off with non-pones. Also, swords are overrated. Now that we've gotten this out of the way, let us explore some options:
One could try putting heavy barding on your dirt ponies. They could use their hind legs as war hammers. Designing a proper weapon for charged attacks would be tricky as merely having spikes on chanfron (helmet) would put too much strain on a pony's neck on impact. You'd need to design a pack saddle that could side-mount a lance and absorb the impact. It would be cumbersome to balance and hard to aim properly. Such saddle would probably be better used as a platform for a ballista that would be handled by another pony. A less sophisticated and very useful option would be for them to just drag a chariot with a field weapon. To evolve this idea further, an armored, spiked wagon that could shield a pony (or multiple ponies) from the front and sides could serve as a charging "tank". Still, the best weapon would be a creature that could ride a pony, but that's neither here nor there.
Pegasi would be best utilized by just giving them a sack of rocks each and let gravity do the rest. The more sophisticated option would be to use a long saw blade carried by a team of two pegasi. They'd swoop down and mow through a group of soft targets. Having a long blade would mean that the two pegasi wouldn't be in direct contact with the enemy. Having a slicing weapon carried by only one pegasus could open them to being countered by a simple polearm. However, for heavily armored targets, sacks of rocks would still work best. If you want to be more fancy, give them iron war darts instead.
Unicorns ... well, there are plenty of fans that fancy the use of swords via telekinesis. I say that's stupid AF. Every unicorn that can use such magic should use the magic itself as that's far better against heavy armor than any blade. Use telekinesis to disarm and hinder. That would use less mana and be far more helpful in organized combat. I believe other types of magic do not need to be addressed here.

Lost most free pulls to Big D but got Furina at 76. Not bad, not great. Got Jinhsi C1 and her weapon with one Encore to my name, and I'm still scraping non-primos from the map.
Thou shalt not draw with coin unless it be a certainty. Thou shalt ne'er draw for weapons unless the game bestows upon thee free weapon draws. Thou shalt ne'er attempt to draw for more than one copy unless thou hast free wishes to squander.
Those are the Gacha Commandments.

Inb4 Sig gets a buyable melusine skin. But yes, pulling for Furina is the better option. And on that topic, my Qiqi cons are still real low, Hoyo pls. Or at least give me Dehya so I can play her as Konosuba Darkness in a burgeon team

Back in the day we had huge space and ground battles, cool space wizard fights, and memes. There were WARS in STAR WARS. Now we have DEI.

Arle has her problems, that's true. Her gameplay looks fun, and I think her infusion is a bit easier to manage as far as open world goes, but yeah, the dropping DPS might be harder to manage in more demanding content. To be fair, I doubt I'd take her to the abyss, I already have two teams I'm satisfied with. I just wanted her for the fun, so indeed not a big loss I guess.
Man, I hope I'll get that lucky when I start pulling. I've been saving since Arle, and now I really hope for Sigewinne to be good/fun, because she'll be paired with Furina. I have a guaranteed character and promo weapon (got standard one last time), so if I'd decide to pull for budget melusine, the first weapon pull would be a win-win, as my Furina lacks her weapon.
True, but it's good there's some competition now for this reason. I do like WuWa combat more too, and I like how all normal attacks are elemental too (vs elemental kits and laughable physical attacks in Genshin - I never understood this awful design and it sucks on coop the most). Unfortunately yeah, lack of elemental reactions and pretty much any synergies between characters is rather bland. Even buffing characters like Verina are hardly worth pulling on field, because it requires too much time to trigger relevant outros, and from my experience in the WuWa abyss, trying to use these buffs actually performs worse, than just spamming with a single DPS character. Trying to use all three characters was the worst, using DPS and Verina was better, but I still couldn't make it in time, I tried just DPS all the way, I did it.
Also because there are no elemental reactions, there's no point in off-field DPS characters. Instant, single instance of big aoe damage seems to be better than being required to do certain things to proc coordinated attacks for little damage (thus, for example, I don't get the point of Mortefi, preferred Chixia all the way).
My luck in WuWa is nothing spectacular so far, but is better than in Genshin I guess. Beginner banners didn't go well at all, hit hard pity and got the lion boy I'm not a fan of (kinda clunky gameplay imo) at 50. In the limited char banner, I lost first 50/50 and got Verina at second pull, so that's nice, then had Jiyan at 56 and Yinlin at 49. 70 pulls on Jiyan weapon tho...
I kinda like how you can farm artifacts in open world, which encourages randomly killing mobs, compared to Genshin, where there's no point in fighting anyone outside domains. But man, elemental damage bonus main stat not matching the element of the set bonus is so wonky. Would be alright if it was 4-piece + off-piece, but here you need all 5 from the set. There's really no point in this, so that's even worse than a def stat lol.
I do have a feeling Arle will get a major buff since Natlan will be all about death and rebirth, so life bond supports are inevitable. She did perform admirably in Abyss, but it's hard to judge since this Abyss was a pyro shit show with waves of meat shields.
I'm gonna try my luck at C1 Furina, but I don't expect much. There are certain characters that tend to hop on board at surprisingly low pulls, but archons are a bit shy.
Got Yinlin. Quite a femme fatale this one. I'm still a long way off from end game content tho. The way I understand, you need to do a lot more animation canceling in WuWa. Supports are thus much harder to use than in Genshin cause they each have their own attack loops for minimal field presence.
Yeah, "artifacts" in WuWa are something special. Hard to grind, and they eat up leveling resources. Not good.

The power of one, the power of two, the power of ... money! G5 is failing?! Put a chick in it and you know, the thing. Anyhow, while I have prognosticated that the toy market would collapse, my vision has been somewhat clouded by optimism. It is not just the toy industry. The entire western entertainment industry is gonna go, and rightfully so. I for one welcome the new Asian overlords.
That said, G5 is not going to fail because of the usual suspects. Its failure is more or less due to natural causes. Pony in a shrinking habitat ain't gonna survive this mass extinction.

I'm not too big of a fan of her, but I liked her gameplay, far more than Hu's.
I indeed haven't lost much, I've no problems with the Abyss with what I have, but I did hope for a bit of refreshing gameplay in this otherwise rather dead game heh.
Nice, inb4 you secretly are a streamer~
Well, Arle has problems fighting a small number of big enemies since her damage falls off so darn fast, and she lacks supports that would synergize with her gameplay. Hu doesn't have such damage fall off.
Anyhow, given that, after C1 Arle, I've now gotten Wanderer and Clorinde with only a single Welkin to my name, Hoyo must be really shitting bricks, or I have Kazuma-grade luck.
Genshin getting better only because of competition does kinda feel like a kick in the nuts. We'll see where it goes. WuWa has better combat, but Genshin has a more interesting meta with the elements. My luck has been so-so so far. Got two instances of some shota lion dancer. Fetched some nature loli cause healer. Defeated some guy who turned into a goat. Great to see some representation

Welp, my Khaenrian tomboy is C1 after 43 pulls without any streamer's luck. It happens sometimes.

Well I threw another ten pull and got Keqing at 78 pity.
This game never fails to disappoint lmao.
I wonder if my luck will be as horrible in Wuthering Waves
At least it wasn't 90.
Hu is likely enough as far as Abyss is concerned, especially with signature. I haven't crowned Arle's auto yet but I can't see her becoming significantly better pyro dps than Hu. Unless you're a fan of the character, you haven't lost much.
-
I got the gaslighting, gatekeepeing girlboss tomboy from Khaenri'ah. Her style is not as comfortable as that of Hu Tao since the little gremlin comes online far more swiftly, but Arle is better at conserving momentum because her pyro infusion doesn't go away on its own unless you heal her. Due to her nature as an on-field attacker, a shield is nearly mandatory.

Hasdrone#1: It's fine. Let him have it. We still have WotC.
WotC: I haven't been able to move my right side for ages.
Jeff Bezos: It speaks the truth. I'm canceling my order. Frieren has wrecked my elf anyway.
Hasdrone#2 glances at the dead rat in a corner: Well shit.

Two words: nuclear subterrenes. Firs go up, then go down. Just slap habitats on a direct energy drill drone and put it on a reentry vessel. It makes colonization much easier when you don't have to worry about environmental hazards. We could first try it on the Moon. Dunno if the tech is all there tho.
