Bronies for Good Charity Auction: Bronies for Good invites you to become one of them – or to welcome you back if you are a reliable supporter already: GalaCon is accepting in kind donations for the charity auction! GalaCon (July 30–31, 2016) will again dedicate its charity auction to the Seeds of Kindness fundraiser of Bronies for Good – it will be the fifth successive year the convention has supported us. A silent auction and a super speedy Saturday sale will allow potential buyers to bid on their coveted items throughout most of the convention, and the live auction on Sunday will determine who gets the most valuable ones. Donation Form To donate in kind to the auction, please fill in this form for every item, even if you plan on bringing it to the convention rather than mailing it. Having more time to plan the auction helps us handle the items more efficiently and sell more of them. Plus you will know whether your donation meets the requirements before you carry it to the convention. If you have any questions, please email GalaCon at donations@galacon.eu. A bit more about the event: The weekend of July 30–31, 2016, will mark the fifth anniversary of the GalaCon convention and the fourth consecutive year for it to take place in the Forum am Schlosspark in Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart, Germany. On two levels, GalaCon provides space for over 1,200 attendees, vendors, and panels with guests such as Amy Keating Rogers, Rebecca Shoichet, and Anneli Heed, as well as charity programming for Bronies for Good–recommended charities: a silent auction, the super speedy Saturday sale, and the grand live auction on Sunday. Tickets are available on the website. View the full article

Ponyville Live Lives! Poniverse and the Future of PVL: Howdy everypony! Silver Eagle here, network director of the Ponyville Live media network. As some of you may have seen, this weekend I finished the process of dissolving Ponyville Live’s “parent” company, Bravely Blue Media LLC. After this announcement was posted, many wondered what would become of Ponyville Live itself, and whether the network would continue to operate in the future. Today I’m happy to announce that yes, the Ponyville Live network will stay online! From the public side, the same pony radio stations, podcasts, video streams and media that you love will stay just the same. To keep things running smoothly, there are some administrative changes, however, and I’d like to go over all of those so everyone’s on the same page. The first change is that I’ll be stepping down as the director of the Ponyville Live! network. I will be replaced in that capacity by Alex “Dusk” Howard, who has served as an administrator for the network and several of its stations for several years now. Make no mistake, it has been an immense honor and privilege to serve in the capacity of network director of PVL for three years now. I hope that in that time, the work of me and my team has made a positive impact on your life as a brony. First and foremost, though, my passion in this world is as a software developer, and the political position wasn’t one that I was ever really very good at. Over the years, my time in PVL has taken quite a toll on me both financially and psychologically, and in the interest of preserving the good memories, I think it’s time to move on from that role. Because I do still strongly believe that PVL is a useful service that means something to a lot of bronies out there, rather than just kill off the service entirely, I have opted instead to step down into the role of an everyday developer, and hand the keys over to Dusk. As for infrastructure, that’s where our friends at Poniverse come in. For many years now, our two networks have been close friends, sharing radio data and integrating their Pony.fm music service into our homepage. We also worked with them to modernize our MLP Music Archive, integrating its contents with the Pony.fm library. In the recent few months, they’ve taken great steps to make their own service’s code open and transparent, and I feel like this aligns very closely with Ponyville Live’s own goals. They have a large and active team of developers who can give the PVL project the love it deserves. Between now and the end of the year, we will start both of these transitions, moving the directorship to Dusk and the infrastructure to Poniverse. We will do everything possible to make sure that this transition is a seamless one, and that the web sites, apps and players that you know and love continue to work. I’m very excited about what the future holds for Ponyville Live. I’m both relieved and exceptionally grateful to have found a manager and team who were willing to take on the responsibility of maintaining the network and taking the bulk of the workload off my shoulders, allowing me to focus on what makes me the happiest of all, just building cool web sites for people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who keeps supporting us after all these years. You, the audience, have given us all the reason in the world to keep this project going. I hope that Ponyville Live will long continue to be another little part of what makes being a brony something special. (tl;dr: Ponyville Live! stays online! I’m stepping down from network director to a regular developer role, Dusk is taking my place as director, and Poniverse is hosting the PVL infrastructure. What can I say? I like long posts.) ~ Silver Eagle View the full article

Bronies for Good Charity Album Release, Seeds of Kindness - Building Bridges: Each year, musicians, artists, and brony media organizers come together from all across the fandom to make sure Bronies for Good’s annual Seeds of Kindness drive kicks off with a bang. In just a few weeks, our sixth charity album drops. Building Bridges is the culmination of months of work from talented musicians dedicated to making the world a better place, but after that, it’s up to you. The Seeds of Kindness fundraisers have been an enormous success thanks to the incredible altruism and generosity of the fandom. Come join us in celebration as we kick off another fundraising season with our Building Bridges release party, enabled by PonyvilleFM and Canterlot Hill! Building Bridges Release Party Sunday, November 22, 2015, at 3 p.m. EST (8 p.m. UTC) on events.yoursiblings.org The Charity: It is important for any charitable enterprise to back a trustworthy and effective cause. Seeds of Kindness benefits the Against Malaria Foundation – an organization that manages to save thousands of lives by helping to improve health conditions in less developed nations. It is one of the best charities in the world. “I wasn’t just sick, with fever and a headache, I felt detached from myself…I was gasping for air. I couldn’t breathe. I was dying.” This is how Ann Paisley Chandler describes her malaria attack. She survived, but many others are less lucky. Now we have the power to save them! Malaria is a terrible disease, but a treatable and preventable one. It is uncommon in developed nations; therefore, it might be difficult for some to understand the severity of this health problem. However, we are in a perfect position to fight it. For only $3, you can provide a long-lasting insecticide treated net (LLIN) that will help protect people from mosquitoes, which are the primary contagion vector for malaria. This year’s album theme is global empathy, and we welcome you to join us in the celebration of its release, and the virtues of reaching out across boundaries and borders. Together we can help make the world a better place. View the full article

Nightmare Nights Dallas 2015 Announces Writers Josh Haber and Natasha Levinger, Community Guests: With less than three weeks remaining before we kick off a weekend of excitement, Nightmare Nights Dallas 2015 is pleased to announce the last, but certainly not least, of our special Guests of Honor for this year’s convention: show writers Josh Haber and Natasha Levinger! A crafter of potent pupillam potions and among the trendiest of fellows, Josh Haber scripted three episodes for MLP:FiM Season 4, along with the episode “Bloom & Gloom” for Season 5. He also wrote the story behind Equestria Girls: Friendship Games. Natasha Levinger has proven to be a master of crafting stories that shape Equestria and the ponies we know and love. She had the pleasure of writing two episodes for MLP:FiM Season 4 and two more in Season 5: “Make New Friends But Keep Discord” and “Scare Master”. Natasha and Josh join our already star-studded cast of special guests. From the voices of Equestria, we have Cathy Weseluck (Spike, Mayor Mare, Coco Pommel), Kazumi Evans (Singing Rarity and Luna, Octavia, Moondancer, Adagio Dazzle), and Marÿke Hendrikse (Gilda and Sonata Dusk). From behind the scenes of pony, we’re bringing you Ishi Rudell and Katrina “Lunchie” Hadley. From the comic masters at IDW, we will be joined by Heather Breckel and Jenn Blake. Of course, we didn’t forget you guys in the fandom either. With all the amazing content this fandom produces, we wanted to showcase some of it by inviting some of our friends from the community to join us in Dallas too! This year, our three community guests are Odyssey (Eurobeat Brony), FoalPapers, and Post-it Pony! Active in the fandom since 2011, Travis Stebbins, or as we know him, Odyssey or Eurobeat Brony, has created dozens of chart-topping remixes and original tracks for the fandom. A down-to-earth creative talent who’s famous for his humble approach to “horse fame”, Odyssey will be performing on Saturday night as part of the “OONTZ” concert and rave. Foal Papers is chiefly known in the brony community for having once been a great lord of Númenor, to whom Sauron the Deceiver gifted one of the nine Rings of Power. Blinded by his greed and desire for conquest, Foaly took the ring, and was swiftly corrupted by it, twisted beyond recognition into one of the thrice-accurs’d Nazgûl. Darkness goes with him, and he cries with the voice of death. He’s also fond of jaffa cakes, tweeting, and classical mythology. Not much is known about our final community guest, known simply as “Post-it Pony”, but his guerilla artwork has graced just about every surface at every convention he attends. Every few months, social media lights up with new pictures of his artwork, simple sketches drawn on his huge supply of small (and not-so-small) square post-it notes. While many may not know who is behind this viral phenomenon, many have come to enjoy his art, and have made a quest of spotting the figure himself in action. Hotel rooms are filling up as we speak, so if you want to pony it up with your friends in Dallas this fall (we know you do) and join these great guests, exciting panels, games, vendors, and more, act now! Whether you’re waking up early on Saturdays to catch your favorite show, or you’re first in line for every new comic, or you just can’t seem to put down those pony books, Nightmare Nights Dallas 2015 has something for you to enjoy. Ponyville Live! is Attending Nightmare Nights Dallas 2015, Last Convention for PVL Coverage in North America: Howdy, everypony! Silver Eagle here, director of the Ponyville Live network. Today I have a bit of a mixed announcement…some good news, and some bittersweet, somewhat sad news. Let’s start with the good news. As many of you know, for the last two years Ponyville Live! has attended Nightmare Nights Dallas each fall, and provided live streaming and recorded coverage of almost every panel throughout the whole weekend. In keeping with that tradition, we’re happy to announce that we will be attending NMND 2015 on October 23-25, and we will be streaming it straight to our homepage. Without a doubt, this is one of our favorite conventions to attend every year. The team running the event are top-notch, and the guests they bring in are phenomenal. We’ll be working overtime to bring you as much of the convention as we can, and we’ll make sure it’s all recorded so you don’t miss a thing. As good as our footage may be, though, there’s nothing like seeing the convention in person. If you’re still on the fence about whether or not to go, maybe we can sweeten the deal a little for you: if you enter code “PVL10″ when buying your convention tickets, you’ll get 10% off just like that. It’s our treat to you, because we really want to see you there. If you’re going to NMND 2015, you should also come see us at the PVL table! We’ll be situated just outside the main events hall, overlooking the downstairs bar and restaurant area. Just listen for the pony music! We even have a free Azura Peavielle card for Twilight Sparkle’s Secret Shipfic Folder that we’ll give you just for stopping by, so that’s all the more reason to stop by. …and if you needed another reason to come and visit us, that brings me to my second announcement: After Nightmare Nights Dallas 2015, Ponyville Live! will be retiring its free convention coverage services in North America. Yep, that’s right folks. Come say hello to us at our table, because from this point forward, we won’t be manning tables and handling convention videography for conventions in the United States and Canada. You may be asking, “Why?”, so allow me to answer with a few short reasons that should hopefully explain our decision: Conventions are expensive (for us). For three years, we’ve provided our services to conventions across the continent completely free of charge. We did this because of our love for the fandom and our desire to see it served well. Unfortunately, for us that came at a great expense. If you think visiting the convention in your neighboring city is expensive, just imagine flying an entire team out from across the country, lodging them and their equipment, and feeding them all weekend long. It adds up fast, and it’s beginning to catch up with us. Conventions aren’t our main focus. Believe it or not, Ponyville Live! is much more than just a group that goes out and covers conventions. We are a network of partnered radio stations, video streams, and over 50 of the fandom’s favorite podcasts and shows. While our streams were popular in our early years, they’ve seen a sharp decline as time goes by, and they now reflect a very small part of our audience. Despite this, they’re still a huge percentage of our expenses. By comparison, keeping our entire network of web sites, data services, radio servers and other infrastructure running is actually very affordable. Retiring convention coverage lets us focus on making that experience better. Conventions are stressful (for us). Many of you have never taken on the daunting task of flying hundreds of pounds of equipment and dozens of staff out to conventions, but for those of us who have done it time and time again, it’s a very stressful process. Not only are you behind a camera working all weekend long, keeping you from experiencing much of the convention experience yourself, but when the convention ends, your work isn’t even done. There’s weeks of editing, remastering, rendering and uploading to do, all of which cut into personal (or, worse yet, working) time well outside the original con weekend. All of this workload conspires to make the process seem more like a chore than a fun hobby, which it was always meant to be in the first place. Conventions are political. Not every convention likes to admit this, but the convention business, and by extension the press and media role in it, is a heavily politicized affair. There are powerful alliances and personal connections that define every aspect of how a convention conducts itself, and what groups it works with. In choosing to cover conventions, we thrust ourselves into that political world without fully understanding it, and more often than not, it’s left us feeling a little cynical about the work we do as media ponies. When your world is a political one, it’s more about who you know than the quality of work you do, and as an engineer at heart, that’s always bothered me deeply. I’m looking forward to PVL moving forward as an objectively positive service created for the fans by the fans, rather than a political entity with complex ties and drama. So, what does this mean for PVL? First of all, our web site, apps, stations, streams and podcasts aren’t going anywhere. Our generous donors on Patreon pay for a huge portion of those monthly expenses, and connecting pony people with the great media the fandom creates is something we’ll always be passionate about. That’s not changing now. As for our plans outside of North America, that still remains to be seen. We plan to cover at least another year of conventions in Europe, but it is very possible we will begin winding down coverage work there as well, for many of the same reasons outlined above. We do still plan to conduct interviews on occasion with show staff and voice actors. Interviews are a much simpler process than our normal videography work, and don’t represent nearly as much of a financial, emotional or political hurdle. Who will cover the conventions? That I’m afraid I don’t know. Many conventions have already begun recording their own panels and events, and this will likely continue. There are some independent groups that offer services similar to ours, but it’s possible some conventions may simply not be recorded. Make no mistake, I’m very sad to be announcing the end of an era for our organization. At the same time, though, I’m relieved to be taking the load off my team’s (and my own) shoulders, and helping us focus on what truly makes us happy as a team. I hope you’ll agree that in the long run, this is for the best. Thank you, as always, for being a part of the Ponyville Live! family. I hope the work we do helps make your day a little brighter, and I admire any of you troopers out there who actually read through another of my famously long posts. Stick around; there’s lots of great stuff to come. /) Silver Eagle Network Director Ponyville Live! View the full article

Stay Brony My Friends Supports Chilean Earthquake Victims: Charity Link: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/manliestbrony/chile And we’re back, back again…… Thats right all you true believers, and not Beliebers! Stay Brony My Friends is back after a few weeks off where EQLA came and went as well as a quick trip to Winnyland!! Oat whips were had by all! This show we had three awesome guys from the Source FilmMaker pony community. AdamTheAmazing64, BeardeDoomGuy and DatBronyStan all joined in to explain the SFM program and how they use it to make some incredible and funny animations. We cracked 500 bits for Tina Guo’s charity on the last show and we are going to do it again! This time we are backing “The American Red Cross” who will be helping out down in Chile. Chile has been hit by a series of powerful earthquakes this year, with a mangitude 8.4 quake happening just a few days ago. Fortunately, this time loss of life was very light in spite of the tsunami that was triggered, but the damage to homes and businesses was heavy. There are thousands of people who need a helping hand. The American Red Cross is responding, and that means that we are responding! Join us in helping the victims of the Chilean earthquakes, and show that there is something more powerful than the earth moving! Your donations, matched 1-for-5 up to 100 in matching funds by Caerdwyn, will accomplish some real good. It’s right. It’s manly. We will again have some neat giveaways that you’ll have a chance for if you donate anything at all. And once again thank you for your support! Dustykatt & Screwball View the full article

Ishi Rudell & Katie “Lunchie” Hadley Take the Portal to Nightmare Nights Dallas 2015: As a thankfully brief hiatus comes to an end and our favorite show returns to the airwaves, we’re reminded once again of all the reasons we’ve come to love Friendship is Magic. Whether you saw the show for the very first time yesterday morning or you’ve been around since Episode One, no doubt you remember the things you told your friends about it: The story is great, the characters are adorable and relatable, and every last detail, from the songs on the soundtrack to each frame of the animation, is impressively well-done, together making something anyone of any age can appreciate. An excellent show like this one doesn’t just happen by accident. It takes a coordinated and highly talented group of professionals to make each episode a reality, from writers to storyboarders, artists, animators, musicians, producers, and more. Here at Nightmare Nights Dallas we want to celebrate those people who put such passion into their work, introduce them to a community who admires the show they helped produce, and help us all learn more about how they envision and build MLP:FiM from the ground up. This week, we’re proud to announce that two of the bright minds behind the show are joining us at Nightmare Nights Dallas 2015: Ishi Rudell and Katie “Lunchie” Hadley! Ishi is the animation director for Friendship is Magic and both the animation director and layout supervisor for Equestria Girls. You can follow him on Twitter @ishiH3Art. Lunchie is a new addition to the team, joining as the storyboard artist for Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks and working as a storyboard artist for Friendship is Magic season 5. You can follow her at @isitlunchyet_t. In case you don’t recognize these two fine folks, allow us to point them out on a visual aid, courtesy of the episode “Slice of Life”. Lunchie is on the left, and Ishi is on the right: We hope you’re as excited as we are to join Ishi and Lunchie at this year’s NMND! – NMND Press Applications Now Available For those of you in the press or media, if you’re looking to attend Nightmare Nights and conduct interviews or film the events of the convention itself, applications for press passes are now available!
