  1. I'm going to try and bullrush a reply out just to keep things moving. I've been feeling incredibly uninspired lately, and I'm not sure what I can do to cure it. I'll be postponing the twins' introduction, since I'd rather not end up giving myself more work than I already have on my plate.
  2. @Randimaxis Sorry for my sluggishness in replying. I'm just at a loss of how what to do with Low and Carnelian with that abrupt end. I'm sure they could wake up tomorrow for breakfast, but I'm not entirely sure what you have planned. Once that's out of the way, I have a few ideas on how to introduce the twins, but one thing at a time.
  3. Why do you care so much which side of the political spectrum some guy on the internet happens to stand on? Just how invested are you in the possibility that this guy may or may not approve of your identity or lifestyle? I grew up in a conservative household, but I'd consider myself more of a centrist. I listen to a few very conservative country music artists like Toby Keith and Alan Jackson, but as much as I like their music, I'm sure that we'd have disagreements on things like religion (I'm an atheist), stem cell research, abortion, etc. So why do I still listen to them if they mention God in almost every song and talk about Heaven as if it's real? The honest answer is because I don't give a fuck what they think, I like them as musicians and I leave it at that. Also, do tell how it is harmful that someone who's only famous within a specific fandom and happens to be friends with one or more people who work on a certain show happens to have opinions that you disagree with. Is conservativism just another word for fascist now?
  4. What exactly is this from? There usually isn't a whole lot of crossover between the books and the show, so I doubt this foreshadows a Flarity episode in the next season. On top of that, this exact same moral was done back in Season 2 with Iron Will turning Fluttershy into a bully before she found her inner strength and assertiveness.
  5. @FancyHorse Ametrine had just tilted the bottle down over her mouth, chugging the last few drops of cola when she nearly choked. The mare sputtered and coughed, wiping her lips as she looked to the diamond dog. "Thanks...I, uh, found it." She turned back to the fire to hide her blush, grabbing another bottle. @genessee "That's not exactly what I want to hear, Lance. Being green is bad enough, save the drunkeness for the professionals."
  6. @Randimaxis Low returned Dax's fake smile, though his was a bit more practiced. Carnelian certainly did enjoy her parties, so he could at least not expect any train wrecks from her. However, with the recent family drama that just occurred, he had half a mind to wonder if there wasn't going to be a repeat of the spoon incident. Carnelian had to have that entire WING remodeled... "Ponies change, Miss Vylia," Carnelian hoped. "And I put my faith in you to bring your husband around. In the mean time, I will require a tour of the exterior grounds, but that can be done tomorrow. I was thinking an outside affair, since soirees tend to get...messy. Of course, that is no issue if your staff are fully prepared and properly motivated, but since this will be your first time hosting, I think it would be in everypony's best interests to keep things simple and easy to manage."
  7. Well I mean, there's humor in the irony that everyone's favorite child-friendly purple dinosaur is secretly a scumbag. That and you also have Rule 43 of the internet: "The more beautiful and pure a thing is - the more satisfying it is to corrupt it." To answer your question, yes, there is plenty of "anti-Barney" humor still around. Just look at the pony.mov series by hotdiggitydemon.
  8. Yeah, I shouldn't have too many excuses not to start posting more since exams are over and winter break is here. However, at the same time, I've also starting GMing a Pathfinder campaign with friends, and the notes I'm taking are about as time consuming as my schoolwork was. I have plans to put out replies to the threads that I owe one to today, I'm just not sure how much energy I'll be able to muster.
  9. This entire thread is an abuse of that word and further contributes to the degradation of earnestness people have towards those actually suffering from PTSD. If you want an example of an episode of MLP triggering someone, take the instance of a friend of mine. When he saw "Make New Friends but Keep Discord", the way that Discord jealously competed for Fluttershy's attention, going so far as to treat Tree Hugger with the utmost contempt for daring to steal her attention from him, reminded him of his jealous ex who stalked him and accused him of cheating on her when he wasn't available to talk to her 24/7. He ended up attempting suicide after breaking up with her, but he thankfully survived. I forgot to add: He was driven into a rage after watching that episode, mostly with how Discord got off with just a stern talking-to despite nearly "killing" Tree Hugger. To this day, he cannot/will not watch that episode or acknowledge its existence.
  10. @FancyHorse "Let me guess, it was my tantrum that got your attention?" The mare couldn't hold a giggle back from that comment, a welcome change from the typical flat or sour expression that had always been her mask for the past few months. Just as she was about to continue, however, her charge returned. @genessee "Never say that again," she growled, though happily taking a bottle from the box. The angled one hoof under the cap and torqued the bottle in her other, popping it off and pocketing it before chugging its contents. She didn't realize how thirsty she was. "Nothing much. Fireside chats."
  11. @FancyHorse "You, too." Her eyes fidgeted from the fire to the diamond dog. Was that a compliment? She didn't like them, especially whenever her cybernetics were mentioned. She never asked for this. They say they saved her, but saved was definitely not the right word. Even harder than taking a compliment was giving one. Still, she could at least be gracious. "I heard stories of hellhounds far away from here," she spoke up. "Huge ass claws that can take your head clean off or burrow through the ground like a fish through water, and they hate ponies with enough of a passion that they kill them on sight. The moment I saw you, I half expected all that to go down." Ametrine turned her face towards him for once, locking eyes as she gave him a gentle smile. "Thanks for that. Everypony else considered, you're the only one I trust in this party."
  12. @FancyHorse Ametrine was brought from her fireside brooding by the diamond dog's question. She looked down at her hoof, observing the flap of skin that hung off her body, exposing the metal beneath it. "Guess it was that heavy ax," she assumed. "Good thing these are built to take that sort of punishment." She brought her hooves together, the characteristic sound of a clop replaced by a heavy metallic tink.
  13. @FancyHorse "That does answer multiple questions." Ametrine did the same, staring into the flames and watching as the fire slowly consumed the timber. "Guess that depends on what you mean by okay. I'm not bleeding, so I'm good. I don't think anything recently has rattled me, so I'm also good there. I guess it's the long term that's my problem, but I mean, who doesn't have that problem? The only difference is that mine is a bit more unique."
  14. It's probably because the lowest common denominator of humor resides in shock humor, AKA "I can't believe they actually did that!" The situations are so unreal and the reactions so disproportionate, that the end result is absurdity.
  15. Yeah, all the non-IMDb sources I can find say that the MLP movie was NOT banned in SK and that it's a hoax. As for the actual thing this thread is about, I mean, I can get that. After all, the children in Bethesda games are invincible for that specific reason (not necessarily so that it doesn't get banned in SK, but so that it doesn't get banned EVERYWHERE). As for @Ninetales said, the best guess I have comes from a Kotaku article which mentions that there was a murder case back in March, where a 17 year old girl killed and dismembered an 8 year old girl in Korea. There was an investigative news program that covered the case and used a Danganronpa parody to describe how the killer discussed various morbid acts on Twitter. However, when asked about this, the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee denied the allegations. Though they did mention that there was concern about copy cat crime, the main reason the game was denied was because of its content.
  16. Joined a PWYW stream with an artist I support on Patreon.  Got a piece done of my veteran pone for Veterans Day.

The local bar gave him and his veteran friends a discount.

His friends don't drink much, anymore.

  17. @FancyHorse "Hey," she greeted back, brushing a lock of mane from her hair. She watched the fire gather in strength before she sat down before it, warming herself. "You're not from around here, are you," she inquired, her eyes glued to the fire. "Diamond dogs aren't a common sight."
  18. My friend opened his formerly private Discord to the public a few months ago. Since this was announced on Tumblr, I was expecting a few SJW or possible Gamergater types. I was not expecting a flat earth/creationist, and one who was incredibly vocal about his beliefs. The first time he spoke in the server was in response to a meme someone posted about "dinosaurs never died out, they just evolved into birds", where he proudly proclaimed that he didn't believe in dinosaurs. I personally wasn't shocked and agreed to disagree, but that was until other people began to engage him. His disbelief in evolution was soon followed by his disbelief in space, followed by his eventual proclamation that the earth is flat. It was at this moment that I was like a wild-eyed five year old at the zoo seeing a tiger for the first time; I've heard stories of flat earthers on the internet and flat earth debunks are fun to watch, but when you finally come face to face with a real flat earther, in the flesh...it's humbling, really, to come to the realization that there are people not just ignorant, but arrogant enough in their ignorance to claim that they know better than people far more knowledgeable than they. At least two people, one of whom claimed to be a particle physicist IRL (and the level of knowledge he was dropping led me to believe he was), attempted to debate him only to ragequit the server after they couldn't stand his arrogance. The server host eventually banned him for starting shit, and to this day, I'm still not sure if he was for real or he just happened to be one of the most original trolls I've ever seen.
  19. @Randimaxis Just like most others at the table, Low Key was in a state of shock. Luther, in front of everyone, had just harangued his guardian, and the unicorn was at a loss for what he should do. Should he challenge him to a duel in Carnelian's honor? Demand an apology? Tell him to shut up? Low was in no place or status to do anything other than gawk and look to the viscountess for guidance. It was her grin that confused him, that familiar, enigmatic, warm grin. Was she not insulted? He had just slandered her in front of the entire Blackwater family! Shouldn't she be as flabbergasted, if not more so, than all the others in attendance? "Quite the spitfire, your husband," she commented, taking a long sip from her wine. "I was curious why he was so quiet, obviously saving his breath for the grand reveille." The mare dabbed at her cheeks with her napkin before arranging her silverware among what few scraps of food remained on her plate. Her hooves went to her lap as she reclined back, her eyes focused on Vylia. Though the edges of her mouth still curled in a grin, her eyes were hard and piercing. "It's a shame your husband isn't here, since this was something I was hoping we would be able to discuss together. I can understand that my mannerisms and etiquette are alien to the uninitiated, but Luther Blackwater's disrespect for those above his station is something that will not win your family any favors. However, you and your sons have just as much a voice in what happens at this quarry as he does, Missus Blackwater, so allow me to present you with a proposal. "In the next few days, I will be hosting a soiree in your manor. The logistics are still being set up and the invitations have yet to be mailed out, but I have been brainstorming ideas and I am looking forward to it. You should as well, it will give you and your family an ample opportunity to mingle with and establish contacts among some very important ponies. "Do I hear any objections?"
  20. @Randimaxis What's the song you referenced in your last post
  21. I don't really understand your thesis here. You mention "objectification", which can be summarized in this context as taking a person and reducing them to the status of an inanimate object without personality, but then you mention that bronies actually WANT to be ponies. That's not to say that this doesn't happen in the brony community, as not only do I see people worshipping characters from the show, but I've also seen people who will go to extreme lengths to hypnotize and condition themselves until they either believe this character is real, or that they are this character, themselves. However, and you touched on this, neither of these things are indigenous to our fandom, and you can find similar things in nearly every other internet fandom.
  22. New commission from FoxInShadow!

    Proud Ametrine

      FancyHorse

      Look's gorgeous darling~ Rock on!

  23. @genessee Her hoof loosened as she exhaled slowly. "Probably loot the mall and take as much as we can carry, hopefully as quietly as possible. If we get done soon enough, we can start back to Vanhoover. Otherwise, probably going to spend another night here. I personally don't mind, but word's going to spread that the mall got cracked open. I'll give it a few days and this place is going to be a scav free-for-all."
  24. @genessee "I was on my way here from Vanhoover. It isn't too far away, and we're technically within the old limits of the city. The only other settlement is Daisy Duke's, and..." Ametrine paused for a moment, gripping her sledge tighter. "They're slavers. I not really much to add really, other than I've crossed their path a few times and now they're more interested in bringing me back dead."
  25. A possible oversight I've noticed is that you require people to answer which prescription drugs they take, but don't include an option for "None". Is this survey intended only for those people who do have chronic health issues that require medication?
