Here are some thaughts from Lauren Faust, but ofc this is more her opinion than being official:
Basically... when the show started... they are all at least 18 years old?
-
Yeah... killing a character aint out the window.
-
I think at the beginning of the show... they were in there late teens to early twenties. These are the ages I think they are at the moment.
Twilight 29
AppleJack 32
Rarity 31
Fluttershy 28
Pinky 27
Rainbow 26
Starlight Glimmer 24
Spike 21
CMCs 18
I think about 9 years have passed in the show mainly because of the later seasons. The first three was one year. Season 4 another, Season 5 was about 2 years... season six... one possibly two years. Season 7 a few months to a year. Season 8 was 2 or maybe even 3 years.
Apple Bloom can't be 6 at the beginning of the show because we see how sweetie bell looked on her fifth birthday party. She was way smaller than apple bloom was at the beginning. I think they was somewhere between 8 and 12... so i just say 10.
Of course... it's painfully subjective.

I would be interested to see it. Discord sorta foreshadowed it a bit so i wouldn't say that it couldn't happen.

Moliminous doesn't even know what he's talking about most of the time. Don't listen to him... he clearly can barely function.

I don't know if you guys noticed... but fluttershy has a dangerous amount of anger hidden within her. It's quite alarming how easy it is for her to behave like a sociopath.

Spoiler
Didn't they just kill Sombre again?
-
I love all the seasons... but technically, season 5 is probably the peak season. I do want to talk about season 6, i don't get why people don't like it to be honest. A lot of people say they didn't use starlight right but did they think Starlight was going to be the perfect little person right away? That makes no sense. She was evil for years... you don't just properly cut out all of those morally dubious actions right away. Most likely... people are going to have to tell you that there wrong.

I thought we were done with this.
I don't mind that Starlight was given a second chance. I think Twilight was correct to see that she needed guidance, and that she could be made into a functioning member of society if she just got the help she needed. My only complaint is that I think Twilight should have kept her on a shorter leash - she kept doing bad things after returning to Ponyville, as if she had no idea what she was doing was bad. So when Twilight tries to keep tabs on her and control her decisions, I'm not convinced she's wrong to do so, because when she doesn't, Starlight casts mind control spells on Twilight's friends, or causes an incident by literally bottling up her emotions, or lures bugbears to Changeling towns. Starlight, at least in seasons 6 and 7, barely understood right from wrong, and leaving her to figure it out on her own was a mistake.
I don't see how the show could justify making her an alicorn when she's done less than Twilight's other friends, but I never really liked the idea of becoming an alicorn as a reward.
She wasn't doing bad things on purpose. There was no ill intent which is the most important factor in this. She's a bit of a sociopath so of course she's not going to get what is morally acceptable and what's not right away... especially if she was evil not to long ago. It wouldn't make logical sense to get how to be a good person right off the bat like that. The bottling up her emotions is just an bad decision, how many times have the main 6 made those? Bugbears to changeling towns? When did that happen?

I don't think Starlight is all that physically capable... just magically. Cozy Glow is also an manipulating psychopath so she could have easily tricked Starlight and shoved her in sneak attack style.

For this case, and assuming the future Earth model, we can use the old time paradox arguments that you can never change the past and whatever you do in the past inevitably leads to the future.
It's already been an episode where time works exactly like that but the season five finale contradict it somewhat if not directly. It depends on the theory of time and if it's possible for multiple theories to be true. For example, maybe... only certain major events can lead to a change of the timeline like the sonic rain boom. There is also the idea that the season 5 finale just took place in alternate universes. At the same time, the argument that you can never change time can still be true as in these are events that happened way before the show happened and we only learn about it in season 5.

The ponies maybe have two maybe three planets in their entire solar system. Some of them are Super Earth's some aren't, their star could be a giant or more than likely it could be a brown dwarf.
Yeah, Jupiter messed our whole solar system up. Equestria (dunno name of planet) could even be a super earth... if it's not earth itself in the future.

She doesn't need atonement. At the time I probably would have locked her in Tartarus for a bit and had Twilight offer to be her teacher the same later. Even if i will admit that she can be a bit sociopathic at times, she's clearly has learned her lesson and is a good girl now.

I believe that the planet of equestrian is mostly stationary. It doesn't spin but it still revolves around the sun. I think Equestria is just earth in the future due to similar resemblances of the land and what not. When Luna and Celestia move the sun and moon... they really do move the sun and moon. Celestia even mentioned how much easier it is to move the sun and moon so we know from that that we can assume the sun can be bigger, have a higher mass, be further away, or all of the above.
It would take a while for the sun being moved to the wrong location to affect earth to badly. For example, if the sun disappeared right now... we wouldn't even know until 8 minutes passed. I think it's the same universe but for some reason... the earth stop rotating... and the moon doesn't revolve around the earth either. It's a recent problem... as in the early times of Equestria... this wasn't a problem or issue. It could have been effected by the science of magic.
My theory is with Equestria girls... is that they are going to the past. Why doesn't twilight going back in time affect her world? I think that's pretty easy to explain. If you think about now... there are things happening that can't be explained. Things that move faster than the speed of light... particles that only does anything when it's observed... or believe it's observed. There are a lot of mysteries out there. Equestria magic could be one of them.

I actually think the show only gotten better and I will miss it when it's gone. I am interested in G5 though.

I may be in a bit of poor taste but i personally liked it.
-
I don't really care... just don't treat it as toxic like so many shows have done.
-
No, I don't have any evidence. It doesn't really say either way except for the fact that Celestia is super old and looks really young. Just a different interpretation.
-
I don't think so... i think they are biologically immortal once they become Alicorns. They can still be killed in regular ways.

I only noticed applejacks voice getting deeper.

Spike gotta be like late teens early twenties if twilight was like 8 when she hatched him. He doesn't even go to school so he has to be older than the CMCs by a bit. He's closer to Big Mac in age.

In MLP, mental disorders and cute quirks.

Nothing surprised me... that's basically how I would grade them I think. I will say season one is higher than expected by a bit... but it is season one. I thought season 6 might be higher... I actually enjoyed it. Season 8 is... a bit lowish as well.
Basically... I think i like the show a lot more than the general population.
-
I would love it. Season 8 was good to me... especially towards the end. It's better than season 1,3, and possibly 6... maybe. Cozy Glow is a remarkable villain. It doesn't look like the quality is dwindling at all... so I hope the show go as long as possible. I am interested in G5 but... it has a lot to live up to. I know G4 is dope so... keep the train going I say.
-
I have never stuck with a show that got rid of the main character, ever. It's a horrible idea in every situation... like harems.

Twilight is basically a single mother... and has been since she was a filly. Despite that... she really didn't drop the ball when raising spike at all. He's a pretty cool guy. I don't think he "needs" a father figure but he wouldn't scoff at one. He seems pretty content with just Twilight.

I must stress that I like even the characters that I put in F tier.
