  1. Despite his racism, Neighsay did NOT cause an international incident, and the Mane Eight's complete incompetence justified him to shut down the school. As upset as they were, they forgave Twilight's friends/diplomats representing the kingdoms. What caused it was the Student Six (sans Sandbar) running away to stay together, leading the tribes to believe their kin was kidnapped and manipulated to stay away from them.

  4. School Daze was pretty good, I think. Nice little satire of how schools actually function in real life, and I find the characters, while not completely fleshed out just yet, rather likable. I'm not one of those overly concerned that they come off as stereotypes; it's very similar to the introduction of the mane six in the original premiere. Actually, the thing that stuck out as especially lackluster were the songs to me.

Might make an actual post on this in the thread, but overall, pretty good season opener, methinks.

  5. I'm really fucking sick and tired of people (including those within the brony fandom) throwing around "autistic/autism" as an ableist slur. Autism is a legitimate condition, and throwing it around as an insult or adjective to an action (i.e., "autistic fits," "autistic screaming") adds to the horrific stereotypes associated with (people with) autism.

And I don't care if bronydom's origins come from 4chan, either. The fandom can survive without this bigotry.

  6. Some people look for tropes in episodes that don't even exist. Over on TV Tropes, Star Swirl being a jerk and assuming Stygian's irredeemable before realizing he's wrong is claimed to be an example of a "Take That, Audience!" response at those who're tired of reformed characters in the series. That claim is really faulty.

    1. Star Swirl is absolutely justified to assume Stygian's irredeemable. The Pillars were the gatekeepers of good against any evil who may suddenly appear during a very dark, volatile era of Equestria. By stealing their artifacts, Stygian betrayed their trust, and later joined forces with an emotionally manipulative villain to become stronger than them. Star Swirl's black-and-white mentality with villains is backed by canon.
    2. Star Swirl's jerkish arrogance makes sense. During his era, he was the strongest, most powerful, and smartest unicorn alive and is among the Pillars who deserve the credit for keeping Equestria safe. Twilight really screws up their spell to contain Stygian and rightfully earns his wrath and sneering for her egregious mistake.
