I agree for the most part, except I use a controller for Grand Theft Auto and PC platformer ports, like Sonic: Lost World and the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
When I was a kid, I had a (probably Chinese) copy of the NES and then a PC. I played everything on a PC (I liked Commander Keen, which is a platformer), so using a gamepad is a bit weird to me. I think Chantelise was a game that made me try using a gamepad (since it was obviously designed for a gamepad and its analog controls), but IIRC playing with a keyboard was still less weird. I sometimes play Recettear (another gamepad-centric game) on my miniPC (GPD WIN) that has a built-in gamepad. It's OK, but no better than a keyboard (better than the tiny keyboard of the GPD though).

I prefer PC gaming over console gaming
Same here. I prefer keyboard+mouse (or a joystick for flying) instead of a gamepad. I usually play shooters and adventure games, I think that both of them are better with keyboard + mouse and only flighting games are better with a gamepad (which you can plug into a PC as well), though I do not really play them.
I do not really have a console (a broken first Xbox that I don't bother to fix or use does not count).
I do not like MMOs and games like DOTA and LOL, actually make that most online games. Playing a co-op game with a friend is fun though.
I use arrow keys instead of WASD.
I dislike VR - tried it, the tech just isn't there.
I also dislike motion controls.

Also, make the villain smart. If he has the biggest army in the world, then maybe he does not need to spend disproportionate amount of resources in trying to build a super weapon or something to take over the world (which leads the heroes to destroy that weapon and defeat him because he has no plan B ). He probably can do it the conventional way.
Also, someone like that would not capture and then release the heroes unless he has tricked them into doing his bidding (like Handsome Jack). Think about real life people who are considered evil - like Stalin. If you were enough of a nuisance to him to get noticed, you would end up disappearing - no second chances, no monologues trying to justify himself, nothing.
By the way, what made Handsome Jack lose - over reliance on a super weapon and the fact that he left the heroes alive for too long when he could have killed them rather easily by sending lots and lots of robots.
Also, the government described in "1984" - how do you even begin to fight against that?

Well atleast you don't need to replace the headphone jack as much any more!
Yea, after I built the bluetooth adapter for the headset, I don't need to replace the headphone jack. It was easy to replace on the 1100, the headphone jack/charging port/microphone module is not even soldered. It is more difficult to replace on the E51, thankfully I did not have to.
9 minutes ago, Sherbert MGS said:And it'd be good if Mini PCs were phones too, wouldn't it?
Not really IMO. I do not always carry one of them with me, while I carry my phone almost always. So, I would either be taking the SIM card out often or would have to carry the miniPC all the time (and it is bigger and heavier than a phone). And holding the miniPC against my ear would be more uncomfortable than holding a (smaller and lighter) phone.
Also, it would be problematic to build such a device - you need a phone battery to last a long time (well, at least a couple of days), but the x86 CPU in a miniPC uses more power than an ARM CPU in a smartphone. For example, the battery in my GPD devices last about 6 hours. Great for a PC, unusable for a phone. So it would have to be a hybrid device, essentially a PC and a phone glued together. But then using the PC and draining the battery would leave me without a phone too.
There were attempts to do that, xpPhone is one of them. If you just want normal Linux and do not need x86, then "Gemini" PDA looks interesting, it looks like it has a keyboard that is very similar to Psion Series 5 (which I have an used a lot on the past), that keyboard is really good (at least on the Psion).

I like "Still Alive" from Portal. IIRC some background music In Serious Sam The Second Encounter was cool. Oh, and I really liked the soundtrack in Syberia.

I'm planning on doing the same to be honest
Nice, I won't be alone
Nokia E90, to me, is pretty much the best phone I know of. I can write SMS with its keyboard, it has GPS and it also has limited ability to browse the net. And I found an ssh client that works on it. However, if you want to connect a PC to the internet using this phone, you can, but it will be slow. I have a separate mobile AP for that (and a cheap service since I do not use it much).
For work (calls and SMS), I used Nokia 1100 for a long time, but then I had to upgrade to Nokia E51 because there was a need to use VoIP for calls (and 1100 cannot do that). There is no longer such requirement, but I still use this phone for another reason - I can use bluetooth to connect it to my headset instead of wearing out the port on the 1100 (which I had to replace once, I also had to replace the plug a couple of times - 2.5mm jack is not very durable). I still use the 1100 for other stuff though.
As for the mini PCs - IMO they are much better than smartphones because they are full featured PCs with full OS (Windows or Linux) instead of limited devices with "apps". And they still fit in my pocket (unlike, say, a tablet). So, if I want to browse the net I get the normal site instead of the "mobile" version or I can do whatever I can do with my normal laptop (even if it is less convenient to type on a tiny keyboard).

Dash who as a filly coached Fluttershy even though she was a terrible flyer. Dash who coached Scootaloo even though she legit CAN'T fly. Dash who coached Quibblepants even though he was an egghead. Rainbow Dash has practically made a hobby of helping the helpless to get better at whatever they're trying to accomplish.
So, Dash tried to teach flying to a few ponies and also tried to tech sports to one pony. The things she is interested in and is passionate about. That still does not make it OK to force her to teach chess (I imagine Dash would find it boring), properly digging a ditch or cheerleading.
And I understand why she is so annoyed the whole episode and acts like that, even though it may not be proper way to act. Not only she was told to do something she has no interest in (and, in turn, prevented from doing something she feels strongly about) but she was also expected to do great at that thing by everyone.
"Hey, Rainbow, I know you like sports and competition."
"Yep, I'm the fastest pony there is, both at flying and running!"
"Great, could you tech this kid how to play chess?"
"That's egghead stuff, go ask Twilight!"
"Nah, chess is a sport and it's competitive. How different is that from running or flying very fast?"-

Nokia E90 as personal phone and Nokia E51 for work (and Nokia 1100 as kind-of backup work phone). I dislike the modern touchscreen phones. I also kinda dislike both Android and iOS. If I need to, I can just use a pocket PC (GPD Win, GPD microPC) to browse the internet etc.

I do not really know how it's called, but it's a black candy that's kinda soft and has a specific taste that pretty much all people in my country absolutely hate. It is sometimes used as for trolling people. But I actually like it. Maybe if I had easy access to it I would get bored, but as it is, I'd say this is something that if I see it I will eat it.
I do not really know how it's called in English, translating it from how it's called in Lithuania I get "anise candy", but that does not look like it. It may be liquorice though (as that more closely matches the real thing) or it may be a mix of both.
I do not like a lot of food that everyone else likes, but this is the exception - I like it, while everyone else almost vomits after tasting it.
More normal stuff that I like is "Werther's Original"
-
I'd say Manhunt. Though Postal 2 is also up there (though it is possible to play it peacefully, usually nobody does).

I guess the OP wanted to distinguish between things that are purely MLP merchandise (figures, stickers etc) and things, that, while branded with MLP, would be useful even without the branding (pillows, tires).
And no, I do not have the second type.

Yea, let's hope for more G4 pony.

Yea, there is one thing in making stupid choices, which we all do once in a while, but another thing is exploiting addicted people. People who literally cannot stop. While I do not wish harm to anyone, it would be interesting to see the people who talk about personal responsibility etc beat a heroin addiction. Without help. And with heroin being not only easily available, but advertised. Show us how you can hold a syringe with the heroin and not inject it. Some people can. Those people are very rare. Some people can stop being alcoholics by sheer determination. Those people are also rare, and even for them, just having one drink can get them back to drinking non-stop.
It's not just the matter of not drinking, smoking, injecting or gambling. It changes the brain in a way that makes it extremely difficult to stop. And the games are designed in such a way to be addictive. For example, a game that limits your progress after x hours of continuous play or has some rewards each time you log in, encourages you to play it for shorter sessions, but more often. The more often part is important - it's there so you can form a habit, just like going for a smoke. Or that glass of vodka after getting home from work.
I personally do not do microtransactions and I do not play MMOs. If a game is too heavy on the microtransactions I won't play it, if I can ignore the microtransactions completely, then I will.

It would make sense to try and target G5 at a different age group (probably a younger group than G4) given that, if they just wanted to target the G4 viewers, there would be no need to start a G5?
Let's hope the target group is not going to be younger than for G4. There is a reason to end G4 and start G5, even if targeting the same viewers. For one, it would allow for new toys to be sold to both kids and adult fans. Also, since there are a lot of adult fans of the show, the demand for quality is higher, the creators may have just run out of ideas for G4 and continuing it would mean gradually diminishing quality and the loss of adult fans (who probably spend more than the parents of kid fans). They didn't want to keep the show as more slice-of-life than it already is (even though I would like it, I like Lucky Star after all) and there is enough plot development and drastic changes you can make before it gets ridiculous (just look at Stargate SG-1, what would you put in season 11?).
Doing a reboot, changing some stuff up, but leaving the main characters that a lot of people love with slight changes may be interesting and would allow for new ideas because the setting/world is different.
I hope that adult fans of the show are enough of a consideration to the bottom line of Hasbro so that G5 is not going to be made for kids only (that is, dumbed down).

Yea, Rainbow was a jerk in this episode. Then again, I do not really blame her. It is something that she may not be interested in and something that was essentially forced on her. The skills for cheerleading and the skills for stunt flying pretty much have nothing in common. Well, unless Rainbow was given a team of pegasus ponies, then she may have been able to put together an airshow and call that cheerleading. Other than that, cheerleading is essentially a dance and I do not remember it being shown that Rainbow likes dancing.
Also, cheering for your team etc as a spectator also does not really have anything in common with cheerleading. I can yell or whistle from my seat as well as anyone, but I would not be able to perform any cheerleading moves. Or maybe Rainbow could have got the students to just stand there and try to emulate royal Canterlot voice...
I personally dislike this sort of thinking "oh, you're good at something, here, do something that is almost completely unrelated, but looks related if you look at it from far away", so I was with Rainbow in this episode. Thoigh if I was in her place, I probably would just have told Twilight "no, go find someone more suitable".
And when Rainbow went to her friends for help, they either just gave her something they had (Applejack and Pinkie) and told her to figure out how to use it or did what was normal to them (Rarity designs clothes for a living), so it was just Rainbow that had to do something unusual for her.

Alicorn or changeling, since they can both fly and use magic, Why limit myself to only one "feature"? If not either of those then unicorn, since magic is more versatile than flight.
-
Good foreshadowing IMO is when you only know it after the event happens (or think really hard about everything). It then makes fun rewatching the series like Babylon 5 and spotting the foreshadowing moments. And B5 is full of them, because the broad story was essentially created before the show was started to film (while filming season 1 JMS had already created the story for season 4) with options left open in case real life interferes with it (an actor quits etc).

There should be a setting in the BIOS setup.

A sudden change is always bad in the short term. Even if it's what the people want and it becomes better in the long term. If that change is unexpected, then it gets even worse.
Even if society does not collapse, the short term would be a disaster. I would expect the crime rate to shoot up, maybe some new wars, maybe even some nukes flying.

Can you make the PC boot from USB?
-
My biggest concern would is that the show might suck. Second biggest concern is that the show may become politicized (while I may like a political show, I usually hate when a sci-fi or fantasy show is full of real-world politics, or, in other words, propaganda).
On 8/15/2019 at 7:41 PM, BastementSparkle said:"Yeah, this Twi might be cool and all...but she's not MY Twilight."
I'm good with that - if G5 has Twilight in it, I'll start watching it kinda-happy already, it will take less to win me over than with completely new characters. It will be like an alternate universe, just like a lot of fanfics I have read. Unless of course the new Twilight is completely different and just looks similar.
Also, just think of the cross-over fanfics that will be written where both Twilights meet. Some of them a bound to be good.
Though I guess I'll have to buy figures of the new Twilight too.

Memtest86+ is for testing RAM. You write it to a USB memory stick, then boot the PC from it.
HDTune is for testing the hard drive. It can show you the SMART attributes and can do a simple surface scan.

I have difficulty parsing this. Are the USB ports broken on that PC? Does the PC just not boot from USB? Are you unable to replace its hard drive?

Do loot boxes suck? Yes. Am I opposed to legislation preventing loot boxes being marketed to minors? No. Am I opposed to a ban? You are damn right I am.
Yea. I dislike double standards. So, loot boxes should be regulated the same as slot machines. Not banned, but not accessible to minors.
What's the last thing you drank?

Earl Grey tea. For me it's almost always tea (usually Earl Grey or regular black tea, though I also like caraway tea). Sometimes it's Coca-Cola, sometimes it's Baikal (I really like it), but normally tea.
