  1. Bald and Bankrupt. He's a British youtuber who travels primarily to ex-Soviet countries, interacting with locals (he speaks Russian) and discovering interesting places off the beaten track. His most recent video took place in Syria though, and he has done series of videos in India, Bolivia, Mexico and in parts of Africa too. Can highly recommend if anyone wants a channel to bingewatch.
  2. For me it was the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I remember playing it on PS3 when I was 13 and becoming absolutely transfixed by everything about it - the size and scope of the game, the immense possibilities and unstructured, free nature of the gameplay; it all overwhelmed me and I unironically became addicted to it for about a year and a half. I would play it every day that I had access to it, and whenever I didn't have a console available but had free time I would look up things about the game on a website dedicated to it. I also once played it for 21 hours in a row when I was sick and off school. I have never been a huge "gamer", but this game completely and utterly destroyed my social and student life for about a year and a half. I haven't really played any video games since I was about 18-19, but sometimes I do feel the urge to give the game another replay again. I'm just not sure I can trust myself to not get addicted to it for a second time, so I never give in to the temptation. The game was so addictive that it nearly ruined actor James McAvoy's career, so I guess at least I'm not alone.
  3. I'm gonna go with brownies because you can get pretty good gluten free versions these days, and I have never seen a gluten free Twinkie before (although maybe in the US they've got them, not sure).
  4. I'm technically not an only child (I have one brother, and he is 12.5 years younger than me) - but I still feel like I am one as pretty much all of my "growing up" was done when he was either not alive or a very small child, so I had limited interaction with him.
  5. Black exterior, and the interior is black/red.
  6. Definitely easier to be a guy, no idea how someone could possibly think otherwise. We're physically stronger, we don't bleed once a month, we can never get pregnant and almost never have to put in as much work raising the subsequent children, we can walk on the streets alone at night and feel completely safe, we get catcalled/harassed less (it does still happen to us but nowhere near as much), we statistically earn more, we don't have stupid media outlets pushing unrealistic beauty standards on us at every turn, and there's probably a ton more that aren't immediately obvious to me from the top of my head. The only thing that's harder about being a man is that we're generally expected to be the economic foundation of an entire household, but in the West education is available that can facilitate this with ease - and this has the knock-on effect of making you a more independent person too. I understand that it's certainly easier to be a woman in 2022 than it has been at any point in human history before, but you'd have to be an incel to legitimately think that women don't have things significantly harder than men in day-to-day life.
  7. If I didn't have to worry about reliability, a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale (the old one with the V8). Looks superb, and the sound the V8 produces makes me all hot and bothered. Truly a thing of beauty. Italian engineering is famously unreliable though (I've heard the new GT/GC series are a bit better, but they're using V6 engines now I believe which won't sound as good or perform as well), so if reliability or practicality is a concern then I'd probably take a BMW M340i Touring, since that'd do pretty much anything I need it to and still be a good daily driver. I drive a Volvo V90 currently. I like it - very practical, very comfortable, very reliable, very safe. But one thing it definitely is not, is "fun" - a fact which probably underpins most of the above criteria. edit: Updated for 2024
  8. Dunno. Do guys even have best friends? Always assumed it was more of a womanly thing, I've never thought about which of my 3-4 closest friends might be better than the others.
  9. I love my parents. We are very different, but they are good people.
  10. Nope. I passed my theory/practical tests on the first try but it took me a few years after that to actually feel comfortable driving, and even now I'd still rather walk to places if possible (driving always beats public transport though).
  11. I don't eat cereal - I don't like it and have never liked it. I'm weird, I know
  12. It's the best in terms of general friendliness/acceptance towards other users, and from a technical/design perspective the forum is quite good too (I've never noticed a bug, good array of features, the artwork here is all lovely). In terms of diversity of topics discussed here it is not the best forum I've ever been on, although since this is a forum created primarily for a specific franchise I shouldn't really be surprised.
  13. About three I'd trust with my life, probably a further 10-15 I like spending time with, and beyond that we're just getting into acquaintances territory.
  14. Went to a Turkish restaurant in a city called Bath in the west of England (lovely place btw, if anyone is ever considering going you won't regret it) and the food was incredible, but our waiter was tedium personified. When we entered the restaurant, he took our order for drinks and brought mine (a Coke Zero) to the table. I poured it from the glass bottle into a glass that was already on the table, presuming it to be the purpose of its presence there, but immediately the waiter snatched it away from me and told me to "be more patient" as he was just about to bring me a separate glass. He then was ironically so impatient himself in bringing the glass that he dropped it and smashed it on the floor, spilling my drink and getting glass over the entire restaurant floor, inconveniencing everyone and forcing us to move tables in the process. He did not apologise and merely walked away embarrassed, leaving someone else to clean the mess up, and a different person served us for the rest of the evening. The food was actually amazing, but that was definitely some of the worst service I've ever had...
  15. I have a phobia of sea creatures. This affects my life insofar as that I avoid aquariums at every possible opportunity, and not really in any other way at all.
  16. I remember hearing this Swiss metalcore band for the first time when I was 15 and thinking they'd become big some day. 10 years later and their debut single only has 7K views on YouTube so I suppose I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Still think they are a very underrated band though, wanted to share this one purely out of my own nostalgia. In happier news, The Halo Effect released a new song and it's amazing. One of the signs of a great guitarist is that you can instantly recognise when it is them playing, and anyone familiar with 'the Gothenburg sound' could pinpoint Jesper Strömblad's guitar melodies in this from a mile off. To me this band are everything post-2005 In Flames should've been. Super excited for their debut album.
  17. Extremely tired. Just got in from work and ate and I just want to sleep, but I still have some non-work related things to fix.
  18. I have 438. I'd estimate that a good 100 or so are bots/fake accounts though
  19. This was the best I could do, I'm no artist - not a perfect recreation of my likeness, but not bad either. Dunno why there is a yellow ring around my eyes though, I don't remember adding that
  20. Call of Magic - Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind OST. Ah, the nostalgia
  21. Happened to me today, I just got up. I'm not great at falling back asleep once awakened.
  22. Don't like it, and to be honest I sort of resent people who do. From personal experience I can say that the people who love it the most should be consuming it the least, and I think if you drink it more than once in a blue moon then it shows an incredible lack of self-control and self-respect.
  23. I lift weights most days, I find it's great for reducing stress. I don't train for size/aesthetics specifically, more just for general fitness
  24. I thought I was the only one who could do this! A few times I've been having a nightmare and told myself "ok, I've had enough of this, it's time to wake up now" and I do. I had no idea that counted as lucid dreaming.
  25. Last person I texted was a male friend so I'm gonna say no on that one
