  2. I've only watched the first episode all the way through, and for a moment, I thought I was going to get motion sickness from how fast everything was going. Ponyville looks like Candy Land on LSD, which did nothing for the experience. But one thing that got a giggle from me was:
  3. For the same reason Bandai Namco loves Pacman more than Klonoa - seniority.
  4. Byleth, Hero, and the Sephiroth challenge for Smash Ultimate. I first saw this in a livestream and my reaction was, "This can't be real." But then I saw Mr. Sakurai's demo and that was it, I was getting this character.
  5. I was into Pokemon in elementary school, when there were 150. When the lyrics said "and more to see", I thought it was a joke because now there's almost 1,000 of them now. Lordy.
  6. I once downed a raw ghost pepper and a dehydrated Trinidad Scorpion and came out of it like, "Meh." That says it all right there.
  7. Saw the Chinese airing the day it came out, which would prove to be a mistake because Pinkie's first line in the opening - that was uncalled for. I so did not need to hear that. That alone made me shut the episode off and go read the transcript and summary, which I did. I was not impressed with what I saw, at all. By what stretch of the imagination does it ever make sense to force somebody into a job they have no experience/training for? I don't care how often it happens in real life, it shouldn't because it's not smart. To everyone who pointed to Sonic Rainboom as an example, that doesn't count. Rainbow was teaching Fluttershy to cheer as a spectator, and last time I checked, spectators don't do pyramids or dance routines. Here, she was being pushed into coaching a cheer squad. There might be some overlap between the two, but altogether, they're two different things. And even if the lesson was about being supportive, how exactly does it justify anything? Twilight risked their school's buckball tournament by giving Rainbow a job she wasn't trained for, while the latter tries to get out of it at every available opportunity, just to teach her that lesson. You know, putting on Pinkie Pride to wipe this incident from my memory would've been the better choice, but wisdom and common sense were apparently vacationing in No Fucks Junction that week.
  8. My first language is English. I took 3 years of Spanish in school, and I learned to speak Farsi/Pashto not long after. I haven't used them in years because I'm currently putting time and energy into Japanese, but surprisingly, they're still good. Once I'm done with Japanese, I might do either Korean or Mandarin so I can work as a translator.
  9. Sofia the First - Just started rewatching this for the first time in months, but just a few episodes here and there. For a kids' show by Disney, it's very well-written and boasts some of the finest examples of character growth. I'd say it tops several Toon Disney shows from back in the day. Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures - Yeah... not too much to say about this one. Despite its intentions, it's not very inspired. It's kind of soulless, actually. But to its credit, there was this video of Barbie tackling the issue of racism with her black friend. The Twisted Whiskers Show - Used to be on the Hub with MLP. I saw a few episodes on YouTube, and once you get past the somewhat creepy character designs, its hilarious. Plus, there's lots of familiar voice actors here. I bought the whole series from the iTunes store. Martha Speaks - I heard Tabitha and Brian Drummond were in this one, that's why I decided to check it out. I wasn't disappointed.
  10. Master of none. Within reason, of course. Gotta know your limits, that's step #1 to being any kind of success.
  11. I buy them online because I don't have a car or one of those e-bikes, and for some stupid reason, Instacart won't accept my card. There's a small Japanese market that sells about everything I need compared to HMart, so that's a silver lining.
  12. My grandma once promised she'd take me to China one day, but she was diagnosed with leukemia and then died a few years later, so that one's on my list. I'd also love to visit Egypt, Germany, Russia, England/Ireland, Japan, S. Korea, and India (Agra only).
  13. What about the blackout and wasabi challenges? I never attempted those or the ones mentioned, but I swear those were things.
  14. I shook hands with Jeff Vandermeer at a book signing in Downtown Austin a few years ago, and in the same place was within 30 feet of Bernie Sanders at a rally back in March. I had also walked past Alex Jones while attending said rally. Didn't know it was him until two minutes later. The dude really was as belligerent as they all said; plus, he had his camera crew with him, so I didn't dare make eye contact. I also got to meet Vincent Tong on his YouTube page. He doesn't post as often as he'd like to, him being a voice actor.
  15. In no particular order: - Call of the Cutie - The Ticket Master - The Show Stoppers - Baby Cakes - A Friend in Deed - Sweet & Elite - Pinkie Pride - Spike At Your Service - Equestria Games - Crusaders of the Lost Mark - Hearthbreakers - Dungeons & Discords - Hurricane Fluttershy - Family Appreciation Day
  16. Rainbow Dash and the Mane 6 in "Tanks for the Memories", for starters. That was surreal. There's two scenes in Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures that almost got me teary-eyed. One, where the girls were working on this parade and when Strawberry floats away on the garland, they start crying thinking their bickering caused it. The other was when Strawberry thinks she lost Pupcake and Custard in the berry bitty woods during a storm and she starts sort of crying. God, those scenes pack a lot of heat because they melt the heart.
  17. Sure I am. How could I not be? I've had people in my life - teachers, family, ARD councilors - tell me that doing this and that will make me happy and successful in the long run. But you know something? It is not, and never has been, another man's job to determine that. That's why I dreaded going to those ARD meetings in school - 15 minutes of "what are you going to do with your life when you graduate?" as though teenage me is smart enough to figure it out 40 years in advance. Maybe it's because I'm almost 30, but I'm having a hard time caring about what others say will make me happy. Really, it's just them thinking of themselves like they always do. Before I start rambling, yeah, I'm absolutely happy with my life right now as long as things don't get too out of whack. But given the current climate, I'm taking each day with cautious optimism.
  18. My favorite part of construction is the carpentry. I took four years of building trades in high school because that part was always fun, if a little bit nerve-wracking.
  19. I love working with my hands, cooking, translating languages, and proofreading, so no. Because there's only so much a person can do, and part of being any kind of success is knowing your limits. Plus, it takes about 10,000 hours to be a master at anything. When you consider that the system we live under expects us all to completely revamp our skillsets every 5 or so years, it's next-level insanity. People aren't built for this. And don't let anyone smooze you with this talk about hard work beats natural talent, because any career you pursue, whether or not you think you have to, is going to require natural talent. You can work hard at it, but there'll always be somebody better.
  20. Nah, I still like her. I relate to her sisters more than I do her, but I think she really brings the show together. There's no MLP without Pinkie Pie. But she has been hanging out with Rainbow Dash for too long because in the last seasons she got to be too much of a good thing. Since season 6, she's 25% super bubbly lovey-dovey party animal, 75% innocently insensitive airhead. Her behavior in "Filli Vanilli", I let that slide because some of it was funny, even if it was Fluttershy. I can't say I'm happy about her latter instances of speaking out of turn. I know she's made comments to mixed reactions in the past, but never like this. This is the Pinkie Pie I know, a pony who leaves joy and happiness in her wake and maybe a few cupcakes, not confused/annoyed looks every time she makes a joke.
  21. Not really. When I said I ended the series with season 5, I meant that I originally stopped with "Parental Glideance" the day it was leaked, but I've decided to cut it down to just those 5. 9 seasons, two specials, and a movie is a hell of a lot more than I bargained for, so going through all that plus EG and the comics is an insane proposition to me. I couldn't do it if I wanted to. Just shows that more is not always better.
