    AB – Fluttershy is in cabin in the Everfree.
    Why is AJ pursing RD into the forest?
    Roswell – black fur + yellow/blue mane– fly to meet others.
    How’s Beatrix.
    Fluttershy’s cottage and shack burned
    Statues: Fluttershy draped on slab of stone. Detailed set of intricately carved burn marks on her upper thighs.


     


    Powerful posed Discord.

     

     
    Dyny and Mango cautiously approach.
     
    Skylight / Dyny check the statues. High Arcana.
    Cockatrice? Harmony? Discord? Dyny – advanced spell.
    Mango asks Forest Storm if Fluttershy statue is ill.
    The burns seem weird. Eerie freshness.
    Dirt around also burned.
    Mango whacks at Discord’s tooth with her hoof.
    Discord moves! Looks shocked and then angry.
    Mango says she is sorry.
    He talks but she can’t hear him.
    Discord manifest!
    “What have you done to Fluttershy!”
    “Turned her to stone to save!”
    Dyny/Frostbite, “Dying to what?”
    Frostduck “freak!” and then quacks. Mango laughs.
    Discord not sure what she is dying of.
    Burns even though fire extinguished.
    Dyny – “How long burns happening for?”
    30 years D:
    “What caused it?”
    Don’t know.
    He can’t heal it.
    Only head unstoned?
    Her head might fall off.
    Her friends help. They tried but it didn’t work. It was they that turned her to stone!
    No longer a duck, Frostbite is torn between yelling at Discord, insulting Discord, and tackling Mango.
    "He's gone quackers! It must be avian flu," Mango giggles while trying to pull out of the headlock
    Frostbite cares not if Flutters lives or dies!
    Discord gets angry!
    Frostbite disappears.
    Mango attacks and then also disappears.
    They reappear on Mount Everhoof! Frostbite and Mango floof up. Mango cuddles up under Frostbite’s armour :3
    “You can have them back once they’re done.”
    "Wait, Starlight was asking for the unicorns, Twilight wanted us to solve what's going on" says Skylight.
    Mango and Frostbite return. Both are floofy from the cold. Dyny brushes stray snow off.
    Mantises and Everfree. Discord is dubious.
    “Go in cottage?” Burned out.
    Many ashes.
    Head to Alchemy – any insight? With Scoot.
    Scoot hideout.
    Mango promises to help find the body – somewhere out in the Everfree? Or school.
    Ponyville fire? Magical fire. Others? Many pnies lost homes.
    Dr Bonesaw! Black Crag
    In Ponyville Hosptial.
    “When Mantises?”
    To the Hospital! Doors wide open.

    Mango fails to engage the nurse.

    Burns! Didn’t realise Discord still there.
    Face sours about the burns. Fires from his house!
    Frostbite quacks angrily at him.
    Red unicorn with curly hair.Smol purple unicorn with blue mane. Wife and I moved in 30 year ago (fires 20 year ago). Pregnant. Gave birth to devil!
    Unicorn but they are not unicorn. Nor same colours.
    When she got her cutie mark she burned down the house + wife.
    Burns could not be cured.
    Where kid? Chased into everfree.
    Unicorn medical specialists. Not discern it. Either evocation or enchantment. Or a curse.
    Everfree in Ponyville 15 yr ago.
    Black Liquorice is the daughter!
    She had a flame cutie mark.
    The party head out. Forest Storm leads but Everfree opposes.
    Encounter 4 green meteors that land in the distance ahead of you. Skylight – this is the same as Black Liquorice’s cutie mark!



     

     

     

     
    Griffons + Liquorice. She has a cut. Craters burning.
    “Hey!”
    “Not scared of daddy.”

    Mango sad.
    Skylight – why trust her.
    No reason to lie.
    Throughout history – 4 ponies move celestial objects! Meteors!
    Mango thinks – we should get her for the school.
    Overkill daddy kill.
    Mango touches the fire with her lance and it burns away.
    Skylight casts ‘read aura’ on the fire. Evocation + enchantment – no curse.
    Mango suggests – drain magic or put magic water on it?
    More Liquorice.
    Griffons unnerved. Party move through. Frostbite strides forth like a pimp.
    Family hated me. Couldn’t please them. 10 years. Got her cutie mark and made a flame. Bright green and told parents. Parents turned on her. By the time she was 8 the parents became hostile. She responded poorly. Magical Surge struggle to control magic. House caught fire. Ran away. Went to Flutter cabin. Flutter older sister. Stayed the night and father came after her with angry mob. Used powers uncontrolled. Magic Surge and burned cabin. Left her to forest. Forest left her alone.
    Green magic connected to Everfree.
    Casttle move in. Books. She found a recent book. Elements used to suppress seeds. Tree House unguarded. She has the elements! Enchantment Magic – gift to Celestia. When she was 14, Celestia was put away for what she did! 18 she made new companions – the guard. At 20capture element of Honesty (in dungeons)! Jewel in guard’s breast plate. Spread her gifts – purple star on back of gem! She has the element of magic. Dragons! Ash.
    Flutters not important to her. Flutters opposes her.
    “What is the point?” Just burn. “What about Beatrix?” No response.
    Canterlot + Elements etc not try to save her.
    Anyone extend hoof of friendship. Only Flutters. Look of uncertainty.
    To the dungeons!
    “There are other good ponies!”
    Mango reached out to him.
    Dyny reached out to Beatrix!

    When I was 30 I killed my father.

    30th Dec session
    Doctor Caramel ministers to the wounded ponies.
    The other ponies don nurse uniforms and assist with fur-cleaning. Skylight looks particularly fetching as she goes around serving baked goods to everypony.
    Wielding her stethoscope expertly, Caramel cures Mango. Mango hugs her.
    Dyny tries to heal Forest Storm but gets distracted by Skylight and accidentally bandages his own hoof.
    Tired from playing doctors and nurses, everypony sleeps with Forest unhealed.
    In the morning, Forest feels invigorated and snatches Caramel’s doctor uniform and picks up a cane. “Call me Dr Storm,” he says snarkily as he snatches up a cane and diagnosis and treats himself in seconds. He goes on to run Ponyville hospital in a sassy manner. He is known for saying sassy things like: "It's a basic truth of the pony condition that everybody’s made of marshmallows. The only variable is what flavour."
     
    Skylight went to bed pretty early but she likes her sleep so she silly buzzword up late. She gets to work baking her tools of diplomacy right after she wakes up.

    Frostbite:Frostbite rolls his eyes. For a pony named after cold, he can certainly deliver a burn
     
     
    Hello Alchemist Wolf.
    Mango gets an idea and decides to engage with the wolf pony after the poor start - "Say, you don't fancy accompanying us do you? I bet you could do a lot of damage with those big wooden fangs," she eyes the fearsome teeth warily.
    Talk? Yes. Join us? No. Brew potions only. Avoid danger? Yes – look at map. Observe red zone of mantis death. School of friendship red zone.
     
    Cake shop – closed.
    Boutique – open for chic business.
    Library – no.
     
    Ponies go missing near school.
     
    Starlight head mare?
    Skylight.
     
    Ponyville not totally overrun. Its populace are not all giant nightmare insects.
    Carousel Boutique looks almost as fetching as Skylight. Good as new, unlike everything else.
     
     

     
     
     
    Mango smiles at the friendly attitude and sits down. "It was tough, but we're tougher!" she says spunkily, trying to buck everypony up.
     
    We explain our mission.
    Small argument upstairs. Rarity dragging Sweetie.
     
     
     

     
     
     
    Rarity wants to pack Sweetie off to Canterlot. “Take her off my hooves? She’s in a slump and keeps trying to make me breakfast.”
     
    Why? Music.
     
    Mango says that Spike would appreciate a visit from Rarity also, if she could accompany them also.
    Mango mentions Spike and Sweetie brightens up a little.
     
    AJ and Apple acres problem. AA has shrunk. Huspony + kids.
    10 years since Rarity as been to Canterlot. Rarity says she’s old and Mango refutes.
     
    Frostbite says Sweetiebelle is mediocre.
    Mango and others criticise Frostbite - "don't worry, he's all bark. He should be a Timberwolf."
     
    Rock museum. Lair of Maud.

    Applegreen challenges Frostbite to put her down.
     
    Mango's ears perk up and she flaps over, concerned
    "Is everything all right. Did the mean Kirin shout at you?"
     
    At this rate, Skylight looks over to se what the commotion is about. "What's going on?" she asks.
    "That's not how phyisics works! You can't push yourself because every action has an equal and opposite reaction. You would end up just booping yourself!" Skylight explains.
     
    Frostbite vs foal. Foal pretended Frostbite attacked her.
    "Sory ma'am. He's a good Kirin deep down and I'm sure he didn't mean any harm," she vouches for him (still unaware of the rotten core of the evil apple filly)
     
     
    AB “Stop fighting my foal.”
     
    Caramel. Foal = naughty.
    AB grounds foal.
    Mango and Frostbite bicker
    "I will defeat you in painful combat," Frostbite tells Mango.
    "Oh really, you just got defeated by a foal!" Mango teases, although she is a bit mollified by learning that the filly was naughty and that Frostbite was trying to do the right thing.
     
    AB – AJ adored RD and followed.
     
    RD left. She got upset and left for forest. AJ did not return.
     
    Help with wood? Yes.
     
    Timberwolf incident – teacher at school = wolf.
     
    Helping with wood problem help figure out.
     
    Will Flutter first. Fire has reduced much of Ponyville. Cottage has been burned.

    The team receives a map of Ponyville. Lots of areas are marked unsafe. The School of Friendship is marked Do Not Enter; ponies have a habit of going missing near there.
    Ponyville is a surprisingly bustling, still operating town, despite everything. The team heads to Carousel Boutique where Rarity asks them to take Sweetie Belle with them on their way back to Canterlot. The team does not make a decision about that yet. 
    They go to Sweet Apple Acres and meet Apple Bloom and her daughter. Shenanigans ensue; Frostbite gains a level in empathy, as well as an enemy in the form of an eight-year-old. 
    Apple Bloom tells them that years ago, RD and AJ went into the forest, but AJ never returned. (It was at this point that my note-taking skills disappeared as well. Maybe, like my concentration, AJ vanished when pizza arrived. :rariysmile: ) 
    Apple Bloom wants the team’s help with farm work. The team decides to visit Fluttershy’s cottage first.
    The ground is burnt here.

    Quest – magical ponies. Cause of Everfree.
    Griffon town.
    Frostbite – ask about parents.
    Dyny – cart ok? Notebook fell out.
    How find necromancy? Accident…
    Parents magic? Mom taught illusion
    Want to be a magical pony? Love to but mission.
    Mission is: musician magician of appleloosa.
    She has just escaped to everfree.
    Caramel.

    Forest Storm suggest Canterlot. Better for show!
    1) convince to go to Canterlot. Mango. Frostbite. Forest Storm
    2) accompany her to Ponyville. Dyny
    3) accompany appleloosa. Dyny
    Caramel unsure. Skylight unsure. “I like frogs,” she says.
    Dyny persuades her to come.
    But she goes to say bye! To Black Liquorice.
    Dyny and Caramel follow.
    For those who remain behind. Some of the griffons had gathered.
    Mango does a sword dance: balancing a sword on her nose, flipping it round her wing and such. Scarred griffons + Frostbite glower – Mango gives him a cheeky wink. Younger griffons happier.
    Meanwhile back at the castle. Liquorice lets Beatrice make her mind up.
    Liquorice gives Beatrix a protection charm necklace.
    Dyny bows to Liquorice.
    Dyny tries to motivate Beatrix. Frostbite tries to motivate Breatrix too but ends up snapping at Dyny and her and gets called stinky.
    "Look; Canterlot's high class. They're the big leagues. The ponies will hold you to perfection. If you're going to pursue this magic stuff, you have to stand up against them, even when they tear you down with things worse than anything I said. You can't be a whiny teary foal about it. Fight tooth and hoof to earn your place. Ponies will tell you you're a loser, and they'll be right unless you prove them wrong."
    "So do it. Prove them wrong."
    "I would've gotten more than you, but I have self respect"
    Mango challenges Frostbite to perform. He says “later”.
    Everypony not in the session minus Silky the Great and Evil accompanies Beatrix to Canterlot.
    Ponyville
    Abandoned. Routes blocked off. One path. Weather = grey/cloudy.
    Barricaded areas. Traps! Bear traps. Potions. Windows blocked off.
    Frostbite brags.
    Mantis appears! Mantice likes tasty mango and plucks her out of the sky and, after a brief struggle, she gets eaten.
    Caramel shoots the Mantis.
    Frostbite swings but misses.
    Forest tries to fry the mantis but it leaps out the way.
    Caramel stabs it and then gets eaten.
    Dyny consumed by rage lands a harm spell which drains it.
    Forest Storm – summons a roaring ball of energy which fries it.
    Frostbite takes a few more swings but it jumps out of the way like a fidgety 2 year old.
    Mantis decides on a savoury snack after eating two dessert themed ponies and eats Forest Storm.
    Dyny repeats their rage fueled spell and withers it to ash >:3 It falls onto Frostbite.
    More mantises are coming! Drag the ponies away! They all escape into Ponyville aided by Scootalooe.
    In the dark they hide while the mantises march outside.
    The unconscious forms of Mango, Forest and Caramel.

    “Why wolf?” asks Dynamo.
    “Not wolf. Is pony called Alchemy.” In the Everfree there is a pony timberwolf

     
    “Where are you from?” asks Scoot.
    “Fillydelphia-”
    We’re from “important-land sent by important princess!” interrupts Frostbite importantly.
    “You trotted around ‘no-zone’. This red zone is a migration path of mantises.
    What’s in here – Mantises, Centipedes, Cragadile, Glowing wisps. Pebbles with mouths!
    Next day
    Scoot – you here to help?
    No – wizards!

     Mango w.oke with a dull feeling of dread in the pit of her furry pony stomach and the smell the stomach acids of the Everfree beast that had almost ended her journey, diminishing thanks to the friendly hooves washing it off.
     
    It was only after a period, in which she mumbled thanks to the pony, and ask some confused questions of the feisty orange pegasus with her itty wings (‘Scootaloo’), that the realisation dawned on her that she had not woken from a nightmare but had been attacked by one of the forces of nature that now call Ponyville their home.
     
    In a jagged flash of memory she recalls the wind being knocked out her as pain lit up her sliced midriff, and then the roar of adrenaline in her pony skull, all fighting discipline abandoned as she scrabbled madly against something that didn’t seem animal but rather as if a razor-vine tree had come to life - an enormous, thrashing, indomitable hoary thicket slamming into her. More terrifying than the pain was the sense of hopelessness as she felt her limbs go weak and limp as her body succumbed.
     
    As the trauma settles on Mango, she sits close to the others, but is still and doesn’t speak, eyes glistening but not sobbing, panic rising, doom creeping up on her.
     
    But Mango grits her teeth, calling to her fighting spirit. She forces herself to remember the first time this had happened. She had been exploring one of the ruins on the Canterlot slopes with her companion Berry Haze. They had disturbed a beast in the darkness, which would have dragged the unfortunate Mango into its lair if it hadn’t been for the heavy hind-hooves of her friend smashing the rat in its evil whiskery snout.
     
    Mango’s thoughts turn to the period of crippling fear that had nearly unmared her – the months she would tremble whenever Berry Haze left her, when she couldn’t bear to be seen by anypony, not even by her parents.
     
    Finally, Mango thinks of the day the trauma lifted, a day long dwelt on by the pegasus. On that day she and Berry had been near one of of the pools formed by the Canterlot waterfall spray in the early morning. The familiar feeling of dread had begun to descend, when the sparkling spray formed a rainbow. Just as the panic was about to overtake her she looked into the still-dark depths of the pool, on the surface of which the rainbow’s reflection formed a vivid circle.
     
    She heard a voice, which later she swore was Berry’s, although her friend denied saying anything but the last part:
     
    “You are the light that creates the rainbow, your life is the rainbow and I am the sun. Your friends are the pool so that your end will only be a beginning. Let the ring be your symbol as the sun is mine. Oh and also look at your butt-”
     
    Mango returns to the present as she recalls the words, finally able to break down and sob. ‘Your friends are the pool’ the voice seems to say and she lifts her eyes to the companions who had saved her. ‘Thank you’ she mouths, not immediately to her companions, but towards the sun. After a goodly period of hugging from the huggier ponies* and many snotty mumbled tearful effusions of thanks, her sorrow began to lift. Relief dawns, to be followed in turn by the noon-day light of determination to save her friends and make her rainbow count.
