Does anyone know anything about U2's affiliation with the Quadraphonic record label (mid-late 90's)? It was also the name of some events ran at their night club, but I'm more interested in the label.
I'm trying to verify something but there's not much about that connection other than it was ran out of The Kitchen/Clarence Hotel for a small while.
This quote I found from an article only gives some loose connection to them:
QuoteThe Half Moon show in 1996 brought Bass Odyssey to the attention of Donal Scannell, Brian Spollen and Ray O’Donoghue, who had worked with U2 on their Kitchen nightclub in Dublin and were in the process of launching the Quadraphonic drum and bass label.
There's an entry on Discogs that confirms those three ran the label, but no mention of U2.
However, one of the artists they signed at the time, Calibre, talks quite a bit about Quadraphonic being "U2's record label." He was there for a while before being eaten up by DJ Fabio (one of the godfathers of drum and bass, who also really liked Dublin's scene) for the Creative Source label and then would go on to literally become the definition of liquid drum and bass (liquid funk at the time).
Here's a recent little interview he did where he mentions his experience with U2 and Quadraphonic from about 10:00 - 11:10 in this podcast:
SpoilerI found more on "The Kitchen", but even that's surprisingly scarce.
