Unfortunately, today I learned that OpenAI/ChatGPT don't only have a negative effect on artists, but it has a terrible effect on the environment. Apparently, it takes an egregious amount of water for this AI to generate anything from a prompt. Approximately 27 liters or one and a half jugs of water are wasted on ChatGPT and OpenAI just to cool down it's systems. For one prompt. So imagine that, but on the larger scale saying that so many people are writing prompts for it to fulfill and all of the fresh water that we have (we only have 0.3% of liquid freshwater left on Earth) is being used up on things that would not take water at all. (Writing an email, making an art piece..that wouldn't take liters of water...) When the water is used on it, it's no longer safe for consumption which makes matters worse. It's quite unfortunate and I hate to be negative, but AI is truly not good. It's impacting the world for things that should just be hobbies. I myself had no idea the issue spread even greater than on just careers. I..genuinely have nothing good to say about it and I wish I could defend it a bit because a few friends of mine do use AI. I would never shun them for it, so it hurts me to even write this.

There are so many negative things about AI... A lot of people are now asking it when they want to look up something, but from what I've tried, it gives wrong answers (sometimes completely made up stuff!) in many cases. Even just trusting what the first result on Google says seems to have a better strike rate.
Personally, I've seen it as good for nothing more than a fun toy, things like trying to see if it can answer random questions right (and usually failing)... But having read this, I'm starting to think I should avoid even that...

@Tacodidra damn there is that as well, I completely forgot about it, I'm constantly seeing people using AI for that.
My generation is already messed up with a lot of misinformation online, imagine the next one (or actually the current one, like they say)
