I’m the opposite; mostly familiar with civilian, but also some amount of military (I was really into the F14s a few years back and Top Gun). Unfortunate that of the F series aircraft this one didn’t make it past 2006!

Really 2024? Hopefully it took the learned lessons from 2020 and really improved upon them. I’ve been using FS2004 since 2014 (wow it was just 10 years old then) as that’s what a flight school owner recommended. While the graphics/scenery is nowhere near as good, plenty of addons improve that experience. Aircraft are very well detailed. I’ve invested a lot of time and money on upgrading and modding, so it’s hard to consider transitioning to MSFS2024 (plus I’ve heard it’s great for visuals but not so much realism/everything else, whatever that means).

I’ve learned a number of skills with FS9. Recently I’ve been repainting (mostly editing) existing texture files to my liking, but could also add traffic, mod airports, add approaches, mod aircraft performance; etc. Things I never thought I’d be able to learn.
