  1. @Alpha-neos, just letting you know that I've moved your thread over to the Media Discussion section since it has to do with cartoons, anime and all that stuff.

It's hard for me to hone in on one because I usually just don't watch shows that don't appeal to me. Suppose the best example I can think of is a show called Oreimo, which I enjoyed moderately at first but then degraded into lackluster harem hijinks. Blah.

  2. Ask a Pony threads are generally used for getting to know fellow members better or as a chance to do a little RPing. We do have a thread like this over in the Forum Games section, though. Feel free to follow the link and enjoy :). It's one of my favorites :D

Sorry about this, and hope you understand. It just makes the forums a lil' tidier when there aren't multiple threads for the same thing active at one time.

  3. So, one of the greatest Wonderbolt legends of all time as well as Spitfire herself thinks RD may be good enough to break records and do things nopony else has done. And yet simultaneously, she isn't good enough to be on the main team :\

Not even nitpicking. This is entirely the sort of logic (or lack thereof) that I've come to expect from the organization

    ----

Welp, I've waited five seasons for an episode like this and it was most certainly worth the wait. While I might've expected otherwise, it was also nice to have Rares and Dashie not at one another's throats and bickering the entire episode. They deserve their own dynamic, and not a rehash of Rarity and AJ's. They're different girls who do things different ways but they both coo' with that.

The atmosphere was the main selling point of the episode, and it came through :). Amazing all around, and I believe with a reference to that old Avengers TV show I've seen an episode of :D.

As for the characters, no complaints. The episode did a great job of highlighting Rarity's intelligence and style. Rainbow didn't have much to do in comparison, but they did make it a point to show off her good character and how much she's grown ("Stop being so modest, Rainbow Dash ;) " ) while being a nice counterpoint to Rares. And she was very adorbs all throughout :)

And of course, after Rainbow Falls, it is positively hilarious to see the Wonderbolts questioning Dash's integrity. I mean puh-lease.

  4. Just listened to it, and Ingram really outdid himself once again . The soundtrack blows Rainbow Rocks' out of the water overall, in my opinion.

Dance Magic is catchy as frack and will become my new de-facto song to sing while driving by myself

The Friendship Games is your typical movie intro fare, but not bad. Rainbow Dash's line "We've studied hard and we're here to win!" only continues to cement her status as alpha nerd of the Mane Six

The CHS Rally Song, as I mentioned in another post, is bae. The energy is super infectious and I love hearing Dash get more singing time :)

What More is Out There is more or less Let it Go: Episode IV A New Hope a very good song that shows off more of Shoichet's voice

Acadeca is the CHS Rally Song x100. The energy in that song is amazing and should be familiar to any athletes or performers who've been super pumped to show their stuff against their biggest rivals. Probably my favorite song on the soundtrack

Unleash the Magic vaguely reminds me of Mother Knows Best from Tangled and/or Poor Unfortunate Souls, which is great because those songs are awesomesauce. High quality villain song, and I hope the film's visuals are able to do justice to the song's atmosphere. It is my other favorite song on the soundtrack :squee:

And Right There in Front of Me was a'ight. More or less what I've come to expect from an end of film song.

  5. Funny enough, I thought Hans was a much more effective villain than Yokai. A lot of the criticisms about Hans suddenly being evil out of nowhere fall flat for me because I saw his heel turn coming a mile away, and his reveal was much better than Callahan's, which I also predicted. You could've heard a pin drop in my theater after "If only there was someone who loved you", and I thought it was an amazing moment even though I knew it was coming, where the Callahan unmasking felt more Scooby Doo-ish :\. "Whoa, it wasn't the dude they thought it was :o. It was literally the only other unaccounted for named character in the film instead :o. And now exposition :o. "

    -------

Now that I have that out of my system, I'll just run down what I think each film has over the other

    BH6

Setting is amazing and was explored far better than Frozen's. The film in general was much more of a treat for the eyes with that flying scene and all the chases all over the hilly city. I can recall many gorgeous shades of orange  .

Hiro is quite possibly the best Disney protag, and his whole arc in general was realistic, inspirational, and outright awesome. And I know I ragged on Callahan quite a bit, but I thought he had a big part in making Hiro's development really work by serving as a foil.

Side characters were better than Frozen's, too. While there were a bit too many of them for any of them in particular to feel particularly developed, the group as a whole really worked.

    Baymax, destroy

    Frozen

Anna is also an amazing character, and one I found very relatable. Thought it was a nice twist on the bubbly, happy, naive princess waifu model to give her those characteristics because she's completely starved for human contact. And even if she isn't a STRONK RESPONSIBLE CAPABLE Disney girl like Tiana or Mulan, she still felt very human and overall lovable.

Would give the edge in music to Frozen too, if only because the only BH6 song I can remember is WE CAN BE IMMORTALS. And also because Idina Menzel's voice is great.

The montage at the beginning of the movie during Do You Want to Build a Snowman? was super emotional, and drove home just how broken the sisters remained throughout their youth. Something about the passage of time + things staying largely the same between Elsa and Anna was a real tearjerker :(.

    ---------

I'd give the edge to Big Hero 6, but still find Frozen to be very underrated.

  6. Voted for Boneless, but for future reference, topics like these would be better suited as status updates or blogs. Threads are generally for subjects that have the potential to spark a long-term discussion, and blogs and statuses are perfectly suited for getting quick input from several people.

  7. Watched this a little under a month ago and absolutely loved it ^_^. Took me a little while to start enjoying it for what it was and to stop going "Why do they never play musicccc  ", but once Season 2 rolled around I was completely on board. Very chill show that helped me relax and unwind when I really needed to stop being so stressed.

My favoritest character is Ritsu, though Mio and Azunyan were competing with her for the position back when I was still in NO FUN ALLOWED mode :derp:. Ritsu's just about the most precious hyperactive, blackmailing adorable little monster to ever be animated ^_^. With that said, I really enjoy all of the characters and probably relate most to Yui. More than I would like to, honestly . She's my spirit animal.

  8. Spike: "So, you finally admit that you're the most talented unicorn in all of Ponyville?"

Twilight Sparkle: "Well, yeah, but it's nothing to brag about."

This is the form Twilight's "arrogance" takes. She doesn't like people bringing it up, but she's aware that from an entirely objective standpoint she is very intelligent, knowledgeable, and better than most people at quite a few things :derp:. She'd have to be in severe denial not to. But to her credit, she's very good at not coming off very condescending and has only had a few slip ups (Baby Cakes is the one that comes to mind)
