Skycoaster

Skycoaster
  • , No, Not Cast Young Stallion

    Hide: Yellow

    Mane: Auburn and Orange

    Eyes: Blueish Gray.

Size: Slightly taller than that of the average pegasi stallion.

male Pegasus Wooden rollercoaster sticking through a cloud.

The rollercoaster represents his love of thrills, as well as engineering thrill. The could represents heights, as well as his ability to work with weather. https://buffy.mlpforums.com/eb2ee1059ed844a69c42ac1892d083c8.png

Skycoaster is a thrill seeker. He loves to push himself, trying to fly as fast as possible. He loves doing loops and tricks and ofter showboats infront of mares and is very competitive, and hates loosing. His love for thrill can sometimes get him into trouble, not thinking about the consequences.

He is very good in engineering, but rarely putts forth an effort, if it dose not concern him directly. All Skycoaster wants to do if work on his flying and do tricks. He is often seen counting down to the next "Best Young Flyer" competition, so he can enter himself.

He is an outgoing pony, but can sometimes be described as being lackadaisical when it comes to his job, and can sometimes be smart, often speaking before he thinks.

On his days off, he can be often found around Cloudsdale working on his stunts, daydreaming about a better, more meaningful life than making clouds all day.

Likes: Monotonous tasks, loosing, being alone.

Skycoaster was born and raised in Cloudsdale. His mother was a teacher and father worked in the weather factory. While in flight camp, he earned his cutie mark by doing his first loop. His father, wanting a better life for his son sent Skycoaster to Equestria's premier school for weather engineers, hoping that his son would someday use those skills to advance in the weather career.

It was in engineering school that Skycoaster learned structural ,mechanical, and most importantly weather engineering. It was during these classes where he got an idea. The idea of a gravity powered railway that had multiple hills which would allow earth ponies and unicorns to experience the speed and forces that pegasi feel in flight.

Upon graduation, his father got him his current job in the weather factory as a mid level supervisor in charge of cloud distribution. It is a desk job, and he can't stand being confined. His duties consist of determining what resources go where. He dose love the occasional traveling aspect of the job however for when a major weather even comes up in Equestria and he is sent to supervise that towns weather team. He has been known to be hooves on when it comes to these trips, which is frowned upon by his superiors.

Though younger than most of the pegasi that he supervises in his department, his skills and education should have earned him the respect of his co-workers and subordinates, however his superiors see him as being lackadaisical at times and have been quoted as saying he is "Coasting through Life"

Skycoaster has recently purchased a cloud house on the outskirts of Cloudsdale near the arena and is finally ready to live on his own.

    For age, Think Mane6.

At this point in time, His rollercoaster is still just an idea in his head. Nothing has been built yet.

This is an interesting concept, but you could expand a bit more on his job at the weather factory, and what made him interested in trying to give others the same feeling. Personality looks good, though roller coasters haven't been seen in Equestria yet, and to our knowledge don't exist.

Because of this, it would be difficult to explain your cutie mark, as the technology to create that type of coaster doesn't exist yet. So that may need to be altered slightly. I will speak with other staff in that regard and see what we can come up with for that.

making a second comment here because we've come to a conclusion on what could exist for roller coasters. Looped coasters would not exist in this age. The technology for something like this just became available within the last 20 years, and in the grand scheme of things that's fairly new technology considering.

That being said, the roller coaster that your pony could have been responsible for inventing in the Equestrian Empire would be that of a Mine Cart Coaster or a wooden style coaster. Equestria just doesn't have the technology for anything higher than that at the moment.

As far as the cutie mark goes, I'm normally against asking it to be changed, but for this instance since it represents technology not yet present, perhaps it could be changed to one of the wooden drops through the clouds so it still has the same meaning. It just can't have the metal track associated with it.

I got what you mean. When I get home (I'm actually on a coaster riding trip in Virginia) I'll redesign the cutie mark to that of a classic wooden coaster with a few of the hills sticking through the cloud.

I was thinking, while riding the one wooden coaster on my trip how the lift hill would work. Since there would be no lift motors, I was thinking something like in the super cider squeeze episode with Big Mac on the treadmill, but driving sprocket and chan.

As for his job in the weather factory...do we really know what goes on, other than the water from the tornado going to Cloudsdale.

Thanks

That was actually the exact idea that we came up with as well when we were discussing how the lift would work, and perhaps maybe it's powered by more than one pony, or perhaps by magic from a Unicorn worker.

Cutie mark has been redone, and I must say, I like it, though a pain in the flank to make.

Did a little tweaking on the back story in the job area. Let me know if I need to tweak anything else.
