[Symphonic Metal] [Remake] The Black Insurrection

After having a tiny bit of trouble in trying to specify my genre and figuring it out just recently. I finally decided to post this here.

 

If you browse my youtube channel, you'll see 2 other version of "The Black Insurrection" The first, also the original, version had really sucky guitars. The second was a bit of a step up but not really that big. Now here's my final remake of it and I'm really satisfied with outcome.

The Premise of the song was inspired by the whole New Lunar Republic thing. An OC of mine (which I nerfed for being too bloody edgy), Cain Graywood, launches a bloody campaign on Canterlot under the orders of Luna. It was supposed to be an audio drama but I thought it was all too edgy so I scrapped it. Some of the plots were recycled and it became into The Crystal Empire Saga.

It's a good listen

 

The build-up was quite long. Some reverberated swells on the guitar would've fit nicely in place of the double-octave brass, which I feel sounds kinda dry. Maybe have one octave, but up the high-end to give that signature sharp brass sound. When the guitar comes in, I was expecting a spike in intensity, however, it sort of stayed the same. 

 

As far as chord structure, you could've rounded the cadence so you could explore more places to go. You're only using D minor and C Major. To round the cadence you could do: D minor - C Major, Bb Major, A Major 7. 

 

Overall, it's a good start to something, but it just needs some expansion. Don't limit yourself so much when making progressions as to only switch between two chords.
