Melody went to the elevator and called it to her floor. She waited for the elevator to come, hoping that the ponies in the elevator would accept her at all. She was scared and even though she chose to go on vacation outside of her Ponyville home, all of those memories still lingered.

"Nope, I read that one... this one wasn't very good..." murmured Cassidy, rummaging through his selection of books and wished he hadn't rushed while packing. Perhaps there's a library somewhere? He left the room and went over to an elevator.

He gasped when he saw a mare with both a horn and wings; an alicorn. "Um... hi?"

The doors of the elevator closed and the elevator made it's usual lurch and moved upwards. Code had always hated that lurch as it usually made him dizzy and slightly nauseous. As he rode the elevator, music started to go off. 'Ugh, elevator music.' He thought as he put his headphones back on and turned on some Dead Mar3. Code watched the little screen on the upper part of the elevator. "1", "2", "3". He knew the elevator was going to stop here because this was where the other two on the elevator were going. The elevator stopped, and the doors began to open.

Melody turned slowly, jumped and let out a little yap of fright. She hid in her mane. "Uh.......hello....." Melody said softly trying to hide her face in her beautiful mane. "Pl....please don't....sneak up...on me like that...." Melody said still hiding behind her mane. She looked the stallion through her mane.  

 

She then turned and saw the doors to the elevator open where there were more ponies. She slowly stepped in, almost quivering with every step she took.

"Oh, er... I'm sorry, miss..." replied Cassidy, taking a step back. "Hey, don't worry, no need to be afraid." Should he try and make friends with this mare? Hmm... she was apparently rather introverted, very much like him. Now there was a similarity to build upon. "So, uh... what's your name?"

"M....Melody Breeze..." Melody said softly still trying to hide behind her mane. She was quivering lightly, for the many ponies around her. She couldn't wait to get out of the elevator so she could go outside and walk around. "Wh...what's your...name?" Melody tried to ask with stutters in between.

Cassidy pondered for a bit. Should he reveal his name? He had been told on more than one occasion that is sounded "more feminine than masculine". Anala would mock him for it at least weekly. Then again, this mare seemed rather timid, so it seemed unlikely she would tease him.

 

"I'm Cassidy."

"Th....that's strange..." Melody said shyly. Soon, the elevator reached the bottom floor and she slowly got out. "If you're a....colt...then...then...why were you...named...that?" Melody said walking slowly out of the elevator still trying to hide behind her mane but failing to do so.

"I know most ponies would say 'mare' if the word 'Cassidy' popped up in a word association game, but little-known fact alert, it's actually a unisex name," replied Cassidy. "I got pushed around in school for it. For that, and because I was a 'nerd'."

 

He then stifled a chuckle. "Sorry to be obscene here, but my friend called Anala teases me for it too. Tell me, what happens when you remove a certain letter from her name?"

Melody stopped and gasped. She knew what it meant. She just stood there frozen, not knowing what to say about it. "Why would...?" Melody asked still quite stunned and scared. She started to quiver as a tear fell from her face and plopped onto the ground. She just looked at Cassidy.

Cassidy was horrified at this display. It was just a light joke, but he should have known better than to tell it to such a fragile pony. "There, there. I'm sorry, that was bad. A terrible first impression," he apologized. "But when somepony straps you to the ceiling during your sleep as an April Foal's prank, you can't help but let out a little retaliation..."

"That's....that's mean...I wouldn't even...call that a joke..." Melody stated as most of the memories returned from all of her classmates joking on her at school. She sniffled, but couldn't hold it in. She started to sob lightly as she wrapped her hooves around Cassidy unconsciously.

Cassidy felt incredibly guilty. He wrapped his hooves around Melody. "I know, and I'm sorry. I was foolish, okay? But she once threatened to use me as a target for archery. She was joking then..." Cassidy remembered fragments of his childhood.

 

"Look, please don't make assumptions about me based on that remark. I think you and I could become friends."

"Pl...please don't hate me..." She said as she continued to sob into Cassidy's fur. Indeed she was very fragile, more than Fluttershy. It was hard her to forget her past. Even though she had an amazing talent, it would take a while before she would reveal it to Cassidy.

"Hate you? Why in Equestria would I feel that way?" He ran his hoof through Melody's mane. "It's barely been a minute since we met. What I said was one of the worst first impressions I could have made." He removed 'point out funny part of Anala's name to Clementia' from his mental to-do list.

Melody kept sobbing lightly as she continued to hug Cassidy. "Because...of all those...jokes you told..." Melody said still sobbing into Cassidy's fur. Even though the jokes weren't aimed at her, they still felt insulting to her, because no one else got to laugh except those who said the joke.

By now, Cassidy was confused. Sympathetic for Melody, but still confused nevertheless. "Why would it be because of those jokes... no, the joke that I told? Why exactly would that make me hate you? I mean, if anything, it should be the other way round; you hating me."

"I wouldn't...hate you...it's...it's just that...I'm very...sesetive..." Melody said as she continued to sob but a tiny bit harder. She hugged Cassidy tightly. Those memories were still in her mind and she needed to forget about them in order to open up to Cassidy. Tears were cascading down her face.

Being friends with one himself, Cassidy knew how to deal with sensitive ponies. "I have a super-sensitive friend. She'll cry if you step on an ant. But she opened up a little since she saw the good in the ponies that later became her friends. So what do you say we hang out?"

"She's...almost...just like...me..." Melody said as she tried to recover but continued to sniffle a bit. She slowly revealed her beautiful face to Cassidy. She hoped that he wouldn't make sarcastic remarks and tell the truth how she was as an individual.

 

(OOC: Even though the RP wants drama, I'm not really a fan of it.)

"Except she doesn't have wings," Cassidy chuckled, patting Melody's mane. He gave a warm smile as Melody finally came out from under her mane and revealed her beautiful face to him. "Hey..." he said. "Well, I'm sorry if I seem like a perv, but Melody... you're quite pretty."

"Oh...uhm...thanks..." Melody said trying to hide herself back into her mane as she blushed a little. She took a small step back. She wasn't crying anymore. A faint smile appeared across her face, as she tried to hide in her mane, but she was still visible to Cassidy.

"You're welcome. Having such a charming appearance, you had it coming." He looked around aimlessly and shuffled his hooves about. "So... what were your plans for today? I was just going to finish off that dystopian novel... the one with the young mare named Katniss Everfree... but talking with such a sweet pony such as yourself has put me off."

"You mean...the...hunger...games?" Melody asked. She really wasn't a reader of novels, but she knew some of the popular ones. "I...started to read it...but...never...finished it. I guess my sensitivity...got in the way..." Melody stated as she continued to stay close to Cassidy.

Cassidy sighed, and looked down at the floor. "Yeah. The Hunger Games. It's an interesting, thought-provoking story, but it's not exactly something you'd call, without having been given a significant blow to the head beforehoof, a family-friendly book. I probably shouldn't have brought it up."

 

Hey, you know, the main protagonist sort of reminds me of Anala."
