Tirek=Lavan?

A lot of people were happy about Tirek in Season 4, so was I. Then I noticed that apart from looks, he's more like Lavan

 

Seriously, he steals magic, transforms upon absorbing it, part of the quest is taking back the stolen magic, and he is defeated when the ponies he drained over power his own magic

Because of this comparison I know you said Lavan is lower on your list of villains that should return, but I looked up some art of him and this was pretty cool:

 

If Lavan came back looking like that, I'm sure they could find something else for him to do. He doesn't necessarily need to steal magic again. Since Tirek changed in that way, so can Lavan.

...I can see your point.  That was what I disliked about Tirek's return; he didn't act like the original Tirek at all.  Well, there was also the bunk about him and Scorpan being brothers...

Lavan looks nothing like that though. If they're going to repurpose him, this design would fit better, imo

Well I realize that Lavan looks nothing like that, but that one just stood out to me.

 

A goopy form might work well since his old version was pretty goopy, but I think they should have a little bit of freedom with the characters as well. With Tirek, they stuck pretty close to his old design, but I feel like they could experiment a little with Lavan.

 

Just my thoughts, though. I like the way Lavan looks in that crystal form you posted, really top heavy! A good kick and he'd fall right over...

Experimenting is fine, but I like Lavan being all goopy. It'd be like making Tirek really scrawny for an example

 

As for his crystal form, considering he was about 14 feet tall and powered up with the princess' magic , I don't think that will help

But then they force-feed him the sixth Element and he goes haywire from all that magic. Or maybe he even discovers the magic of friendship after eating all six elements, thus converting him to their side since he now understands it or something.

 

Tirek exploding from too much magic would've been something. Ponyville would've had one red fireworks show, that's for sure.

But seriously, do you mean that they each have a villain that they are the main pony that takes them down, or do you mean that Lavan should be taken down equally by all of them? I just was suggesting Rarity comes up with the idea, obviously she couldn't overload him by herself.

Ah, I was hoping that was what you were talking about! I have had this conversation a lot of times with different folks, but it always got off the rails. A lot of folks seemed interested in an "Anti-Mane Six" of ponies, but I'd rather there be different kinds of villains that represent the opposite of their elements.

 

Rarity could have Lavan as her villain, and she has to contend with his immense greed. Unless you mean that there should be completely new villains. I'd agree with that, but if there's a villain that already exists that fits a role, I think it would be cool to bring them back.

I know, speaking of G4, Sombra had a bit of trickery in his magic, but it was more about fear than anything. Plus, he's toast, so I don't think he could do that. Discord of course was a trickster, but he wasn't so much about lying as he was about corrupting your Element. All he did was point out insecurities or fears the Mane Six had to change them, he wasn't straight lying, as it were. So the jury's still out on a villain that fits that description.

Yup, Somnambula fits the bill perfectly. She is a human, but her whole thing is that she tricks ponies into coming to a circus where she takes their youth for herself and their magic as well(lots of G1 Villains stole magic or power). She even made illusions to keep other ponies distracted

Dude, it's fun being a butt. You should try it sometime. And of course they didn't decide to give in, they had lost sight of their friendship so naturally they chose to gain their friendship back. It seemed like Discord's entire deal was making them forget why they were friends, and instead making them focus on the negative. The Mane Six are naturally good and like each other, so to me there shouldn't have been a struggle in the memory part at all. Other than physical pain, maybe.

She did have a canary servant to advertise her circus, that would make sense

Awesome! And it would give the perfect excuse to have Flim and Flam come back, because they are my favorite minor antagonists. A circus just seems so freaking fitting for them!

 

Now Catrina would be a great match for Rainbow when you put it like that. I wonder how they'd cover the addiction part on Friendship is Magic though... it would also be cool to bring Rep back too I guess.

 

Outside of the Mane Six, I think Spike should also have to deal with someone from G1. He'll have to face his worst nightmare...

Spike could deal with a dragon version of King Charlatan. In G1, King Charlatan was a genocidal penguin who thought all non-penguins should be eradicated and/or frozen solid.

 

A dragon version of him would reveal he is Spike's father or something like that and could be redeemed if Spike sacrifices himself to take a shot from his dad meant for ponies

Wow, an episode where Spike meets his dad and he turns out to be a genocidal dragon...

 

That would actually be heartbreaking. Especially if Spike takes a hit for the ponies! I think it would be a good excuse to bring back Garble and his gang of dragons too, maybe they could be the dragon's servants.

 

Also, a genocidal penguin sounds both awesome and hilarious. Dang it, G1 gets more and more awesome every day.
