My Little Turtles:

So… as I was RPing on my April O'Neil twitter account, I had the sudden urge to draw the guys (read: turtles) as Ponies. So… here they are, my ponified Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

It could be just me, but because of Mikey's personality, I've always thought of him to be a pegasus. 
Also, Donatello is best tur.... er... pony?

Well, I see Mikey as Pinkie Pie in turtle form, which is the only reason he ISN'T a Pegasus, really. Raph, while very much like Rainbow Dash, just feels too much like an earth pony to me. Leo's leadership is what makes him a Unicorn, as does Don's intellect. I was going to draw April as an Alicorn (in the 2012 series, she'd definitely fit the role. I mean, c'mon!

She's part Kraang, with an immunity to mutagen, psychic powers, and is training to be a ninja… I'd definitely go Alicorn for her.

Casey is going to be a Pegasus. (I just haven't gotten to drawing them yet.

 

And, tbh, I really can't decide! As a kid, Raph was my fave, hands down. But I LOVE Mikey in the 2012 series! (I usually hate him. He annoys me, but the 2012 one is adorable!) Donnie is definitely on my top list in all continuities (and I mega ship 2012 series Apritello!) But certain continuities Raph wins. Leo is just… Leo.

 

Which is funny since irl, he's the turtle I'm most like. Scary to think. But he's kinda always forgotten in my favourite listing. (And usually last drawn, almost out of hindsight.)

That was actually a pretty good plot twist, and I do like the new series, despite the strange style of it. 

Hey, Leo actually got more character in the new series, because he watched that Space Heroes show before it was cancelled.

I agree. Which is why, if she goes to Equestria, she'd be an Alicorn. Taboo or not.

 

This is true. He does have more character and is a bit less cheesy than the 87 series. Also, his Karai fixation

(which is kinda creepy, but understandable considering she's his sister)

I think the story and acting in the new series is the best of all of them, tbh. And the artistry (once you get beyond the claymation feel) is really good. As an owner of pet turtles, I cringe when I see the '87 and 2003 series… c'mon! Where's the bridge? The shell is part of their ribs/spine. They need that bridge (the bit under the arm connecting the carapace to the plastron) to BREATHE! 2012 is the only animated one with bridges on the turtles! (I'm an artist, I obsess over details!)

The main reason as to why I like the new art style is because they gave each of the turtles a distinct look. A problem I never understood with people is that they say the turtles look too similar, which in some cases, they do, but I can tell who's who by their weapon.

Then again, I grew up with the turtles, so that helps.

True that! But I agree! Each turtle has their own distinct character and look. I love that about the new series. Most other ones are just copy/paste. Like, you take away the colour and weapons, you can barely tell who was who. This one is so distinct, even in their "baby picture", at the beginning of the theme song, you can tell, before the weapons , before the bandanas.

Leonardo was so much more than a painter. He was a genius inventor, too (I do sometimes wonder why Donnie wasn't named after him, tbh). And Michelangelo was a painter as well as a sculptor. (Yes, I know about their namesakes. But always love fun facts!)

Which part scares you? The fact that they're ponies? Or the ponifying of things other than ponies?
