private "On the Spot" Book and Cutlass

Cooking the Books, the local library, restaurant, and pub. It was here that Cutlass often found herself getting a good meal, and less often coming to see if there was anything worth looking up. She'd long since read every book in the "library" portion, which really wasn't all too big to begin with. But, sometimes in the circular and journal section fun little goodies would pop up. Crudely drawn maps, logs of adventures taken, or unfinished.

 

For somepony hunting for the next shiny thing to add, these were a goldmine. And it was now, that she poked around, inspecting every shelf just to see if anything new popped in. Her eyes would assault anypony sitting around, making sure their books were nothing of interest. She even knocked around a trash can now and then, quietly of course, to make sure nothing fell in.

Book was in the library, reading his book he wanted to donate there. He was making sure it was good. He glanced up to see a pony digging through the trash. He got up and went over to her. "Uh... Why are you going through the trash?" Book asked the mysterious mare. He was slightly frowning because it was odd to go through a garbage can.

She wasn't necessicarly startled, turning to face him,  eyes wide with what look more like a nervousness, then any amount of fear. "Oh!!! Hi, there, I just, uhhh, umm,  just,  dropped my.  Pencil"  as she spoke, her hoof stuffed a crumpled it of something into her bag in what she hoped was a sneaky fashion "Pencil, yep.  Dropped it, picked it up,   from the can,  my pencil.  Got it now!  So....Hi...yep. Hi. "  her gaze just sort fixed onto him,   pink eyes almost to a red just staring

Book looked at her suspiciously. "Really? Why would you drop a pencil in the garbage? That seems way too odd. Don't you think?" Book asked her. He kinda just wanted to mess with her. Havent pranked or messed with somepony in a while. Why not? Book thought and looked at her.

 I, on purpose?  No no no,  you've got me uhh, all wrong there stranger.  -ahem-  she gave as dainty a little clearance of her throat as she could muster,  rapidly switching gears  "stranger, who hasn't even introduced himself yet,  might I add"  her tail gave a little twitch as she looked away,   one hoof stamp short of being flat out condescending....one eye quickly looking over to see how he reacted.

"Ha! You just caught yourself! I never asked if it was on purpose. I never said I worked here either. Why so nervous?" Book pointed out. Book smiled. "I'm Book Quill. Writer. And whom might you be?" Book asked the mare. It felt nice to mess with her. It had been a while since he messed with somepony. It felt nice to be like a detective.

Dignified him with a response,  once more looking in his direction  "Hello book quill writer,   how do you do today" gave him the slightest of little bows  "I'm Gilded Cutlass,  maybe you've heard of my.  ahem. Awesome!  nick nack shop, hmmmmm?  Biggest in the region...best selection.....no?....Maybe?  Anyrate"  she shuffled past him, giving just a little whistle and throwing her mane back "I I have lots of things todo with my pencil now..so...yeah.

"I see your a prankster? Also, writer isn't my name, it's my profession." Book explained. He saw her 'pencil' was a little more shiny in her bag. "You didn't get a pencil, huh? Oh well because you're only going to deny what I say." Book said calmly. He tossed her a bit. "Nice lie. Up until you said that you have lots to do with it." Book said.

Prankster! Don't know what you mean,  really, just a pencil.  "  her hoof came up swift, smacking the bottom of her bag and ejecting a little greyish rod.  Graphite stick,  not quite a pencil per say, but better than a quill.  It clinked against the stallion lightly before flopping to the ground.   "  And how do you know mr Book, that I too don't write, or draw, or -cough- make treasure maps-  What what? who said that

Book smiled at her behavior. "I guess you're right and I'll just be going to my home with lots of cool stuff." He said and was slowly walking off. He was messing with her. Book could tell she was a collector of all sorts of stuff. He always liked that stuff and also liked his books. He really liked to write when he wanted to unwind.

Oh darling that's sweet, but I'm afraid I almost, one hundred and twenty percent, without a doubt,  have far more cool stuff than you."  she backed up a bit, not even turning around, just a full on revered till she could stare eye to eye with him, her tone shifted as jarringly as a worm in an apple "seriously,  don't even joke like that, I assure you...mines better:

"Prove it." Book said. "Can't say it without any proof!" Book Quill said, smirking. He always liked a small challenge, web if he was going to lose badly. He just liked it a lot. He had a lot of books, if that counted, which it probably didn't, even in his case. He was still smirking.

"I...w....what...I....Fine"  her wings snapped back and folded neatly up, much like a dove would sit,  rumb down and front hoof out, pointing out the libraries massive window. "See there, down the street,  one, two, three"  each number warranted a waggle of the hoof"  five, six! Six buildings down, that amazing shop down there full of more awesome that you can sauce.  That's my shop, where I sell my awesome things.  I even sell things that make up your name, whole section for books and quills. "  Her face was wearing a massive smirk by the end of it,  eyes slowly shifting over the the stallion.

"Let's go over there and see. Then we go over to my place and see." Book said. He knew he was going to be beat badly. He just wanted to seem cool about it. Book looked at the mare and stuck his hoof out for an agreement. He was curious about her earrings but payed attention to her.

"Oh really? wanna see?  Well, I hope you brought your bits with you because I don't know if I like dedicated window shoppers."   her shoulders raised again, smirk turning into a just flat out cocky smile "not that anyone ever leaves my shop empty hooved,   there's always something somepony likes...........even that guy who wanted to buy my window. Sold it to him! Bought another one!  Dats good business...."   she had started up now,  giving her wings the tiniest of flutters "coming then?"

"Let's go then." Book smiled. He just wanted to see her place. He had some bits with him and he had his book and he was smiling at her. She seems nice and probably has a lot of stuff in her house with her. Book thought to himself and was looking at her, smiling still.

She was already gone,    out side the window just trotting away, nose held high and a smirk painted across her lips.  Not that he'd be able to see said smirk,  but it was there.  She didn't stay walking for long as her wings gave a few solid beats and threw the tiny framed Pegasus into the air, bouncing along rooftops till she was at her little shop.

Book flew outside and buzzed over to her shop, being careful not to hit anything or anypony. He was pretty close to the ground. Book started mumbling random names for things. Some of them were really funny while others were serious. Book landed in front of her shop and he closed his wings.

Door to the shop was open,  there was even a large sign stated as such.  It held promises that not only was the store open,  but all were welcome to come in.   More so than that,  what hours said store was open, and that, with purchase,  patrons of the store would receive a fresh baked cookie.  Talk about incentive

"oy!" her voice rang out from inside "Don't just stand there and window browse,  come on in and be....amazed!"

Book read the sign and entered. Book started to look around, not much catching his eye. He was surprised that she did have a lot of stuff. This mare sure does like her stuff and collecting. Book thought to himself as he looked around the shop. He ruffled his feathers a bit.
