Quillina blinked as suddenly the other guard appeared, nearly scarring her out of her wits. Once she'd collected herself, she blinked and she cocked her head, "watch over me? Are you my personal guard?" She thought and it did seen plausible.

"Yeah...apparently its only over the week alright" Equinox said. "Looks like I got my work out for me at least" Equinox said. "I wonder why they need me to watch over you though" Equinox asked himself. "The guard didn't give much info on why...maybe I'll figure out why later" Equinox said

Quillina had him halt at the enterance to the library, simply due to Luna needing some personal scrolls that, if seen, would be a bit embarressing to be caught with. She quickly retrieved them and returned to Equinox, smiling, "Okay, I got the scrolls. And...I don't know either, there's probably a reason..."

Ennex exited the castle, storming past the guards, and climbed into his carriage.  So deep in his thoughts, he didn't even hear Equinox's greeting as he passed on his way out.  

"Back to the office," he told the pony hitched up to the carriage.

"Yes sir," was the reply, and off they went.  Ennex sat back, trying to plan his next move.  "If nothing else, this will cause significant delays," he thought out loud.  "If only this plan didn't rely on Luna's approval for Phase I to move forward."  He watched the city of Canterlot flow by outside, and the carriage continued down the street.  I need a break from this stress to think things out.  Then, a light went off in his mind, and he leaned out the window.  "Change of plans," he called out, "Take me to the club downtown!"  The carriage changed direction, turning onto a different street.  Ennex smiled.  Yes, a few hours with his favorite DJ was just what he needed to clear his mind and come up with a new plan.  As they got near to Canterlot's downtown area, he could hear the music in the distance.  Sounds like Pon-3 has started early today, he thought...

"Well if there is a reason then I guess I shouldn't be all that worried about it then" Equinox said before looking at the sky. "Until death over comes I am sworn to protect the princess and any of her subjects as long as I live" Equinox said to himself. "some times I wonder why I applied as a guard...even though I am a captain I'm not all that great"

The nightclub was already busy when Ennex stepped up to the door.  The large Earth pony acting as a bouncer saw him, and waved him through with a single hoof.  The other ponies waiting in line looked like they wanted to complain, but the bouncer shot them a look.  Ennex was both a high-paying customer, and a regular one, and was treated accordingly.  

  He entered, and was instantly assaulted by the loud music blasting from the stage.  Multi-colored lights flashed around dozens of ponies dancing to the beats, while others occupied the tables around along the sides of the room.  He approached one in the far corner, closest to the stage, and smiled when he found it empty.  It was always empty.  The ponies who hung out here new better then to take that table.  Moments after sitting down, a familiar white unicorn with a crazy blue mane dropped into the seat across from him.

"Hey Ennex!" she shouted over the music, "What's going on?"

"Same as always, Vinyl," he replied.  "Another stressful day at the office."  He waved over a server to get a drink.  "You playing your usual set tonight?"

"You got it!" she replied, "plus, got some new stuff that I wanna try out.  Something me and 'Tavi cooked up."

"Oh, you guys get over that fight last week?" he asked.

"Yeah, its cool," she said.  "I admitted I was a jerk, and offered to make it up to her."  She hooked a hoof back at the stage.  "Hence, the new material for tonight."

"Among other things."  They laughed, and the server returned with his drink.  "How bout a request to start?  'Epic Rave and Failed Call'?"

"You got it!"  And with that, she got up and returned to her mixing table on the stage...

Quillina smiled, "Have you ever been outside the castle though?" She asked, knwoing that there was always fun to be had when the moon arose, "We could always stop by a club or something, and be back before we're missed." She smiled, but slowly her body fazed out of her courage and she looked down.

"I have been out of the castle before...last time I did I just allowed a guard to take my post so it shouldn't be a problem but for you though I am not so sure" Equinox said before looking at the sky. "I wonder if I'll meet my friend at night again" Equinox thought to himself as he looked back and saw Quillinas courage disappear. "You know you need to stop being so scared all the time" Equinox said.

Quillina was completely frozen again, and she sighed, "I can't help it Equ." She used her nickname for him, "I-I just feel like all of a sudden all my courgae just goes away. I can't make it stay, I honestly feel like a failure. All I am sometimes is just the person to put into the role of a scribe."

"But you can help it Quill" Equinox said. "You're not a failure either so don't ever think that" Equinox said. "You are not just somepony put in the role of a scribe you are Princess Lunas Scribe and you are my friend and I don't want any of my friends feeling down about themself now cheer up" Equinox said

Quillina nodded, but she still felt like she wasn't really good at her job. she simply trotted along, feeling like she wasn't really worth the point. Trying to stay calm though, she looked up and asked, "So..uh...are you feeling okay?" She asked, then her courage fizzled out and looked back down.

"I'm feeling fine the question is, are you feeling okay" Equinox asked before he looked at Quillina. "You seem a lot less happier then I remember...you seem more down then usual" Equinox said before hugging her. "We are friends you can tell me what's wrong...it seems something else is bothering you"

Quillina felt his Warren embrace and she sniffed, leaning into his fur, "I just...I just question why Luna wants me. I feel inept. Like I could better, but no matter how hard I try...it's all just worthless in the end." She looked up at him, "and...I just feel lonely. Like I just realized that....I've never had a coltfriend before."

"I never had a mare friend but I have friends that help me out and make me feel better..." Equinox said. "Luna didn't tell me why she chose you but I know she has good intentions for choosing you...and in the end it's not worthless...though if you want I can help you find a coltfriend" Equinox said

She looked up, "I-I don't know about that right now, I'm content with being a scribe. I just wish that I had one at this point." She sighed, "I've heard that ponies my age have had at least one by this point..." Sghe sighed, "Am I ugly?" She asked, upset to see if he was going to say yes.

"No...you're not ugly why would you even ask that Quill" Equinox asked. "You should never ask that you are a beautiful mare and you know that" Equinox said. "Mares at your age just find some colt and date and usually it doesn't work out all that way" Equinox said. "Now stop being down about your self"

Quillina sighed once and she finally nodded, submitting to his will and deciding to just go ahead and go with it. She sighed once more before she stood up, "are you up for clubbing or..." she whispered, not sure what to say after that. Honestly, clubbing wasn't even somethign she knew what it was.

"Well I guess...do you really want to go clubbing" Equinox asked. "I have no problems going but you sound unsure of yourself" Equinox said. "I mean if you want to go to the club you are going to have to interact with somepony there because some will just come up to you and try to speak with you" Equinox said

Quillina nodded, "I think so...I've never been before so...I wanted to try it. Luna has done it so many times I wanted to try it. I-I kinda wanted to...if you would mind, I'd like to do so." She smiled, looking at her with a look of both fear and joy. She continued along her original path.

"I really don't mind at all Quill" Equinox said. "Tell the truth I only been to one club but that was with my friend Blaze...it did not turn out so well for him though" Equinox said remembering how Blaze was kicked out of the club for lighting his wings on fire to show off to some mare.

Blinking, they slowly began exiting the castle, warning the guards of where they were going. She giggled as the night skyy slowly gave them ar eally nice breeze which ruffled her fur. Smiling harder, they coitnnued to move, as she slowly tried to make more conversation, "What happened?"

"What? Oh you mean how did blaze get kicked out...well he saw some mares and so he decided to try and impress them so since he is actually half phoenix he lit his wings on fire which then caused the sprinklers to go off. The guards came and removed him from the club" Equinox explained. "Really though he isn't all the bright when it comes to trying to impress somepony"

She giggled as they started to near a club. She laughed, "Well they obviously don't konw anything about impressing mares!" she smiled, "I'd love a love letter. If I got one I'd hold it dear to me forever and I'd never ever let it go!" She smiled and sighed, "I'd cherish those memories."

Equinox smiled. "A love letter...that sounds like a nice thing to give someone" Equinox said. "Cherishing memories is always a wonderful thing...helps you remember all the good things ponies have done...and helps you remember loved ones" Equinox said as he looked at her

Quillina nodded and slowly they arrived at the club. She smiled to him and gently began to pus hthe doors open. The loud noise blarred on her ears and she yelled out at once, then she composed herself and ordered a drink.

The liquid loosened her tongue and she actually said something she may regret later, "How the buck can...can a club like this stay in...buisness? Too loud..."
