Riley's mother was dropping her son off at Ponyville's daycare center. "He gets... hmm... excited around new ponies, and he has a habit to chew the nipple of bottles..." "Ma'am, I assure you, he'll be just fine here," said the caretaker attendant. "Well, if you're sure..." Riley's mother headed for the door. "See you later!" she cooed to her baby, and then went to go about her day. The attendant placed Riley in a room full of foal toys and generally soft objects. He giggled and clapped, impressed at the display. "You'll have some playmates to share this with soon!" said the caretaker in a sweet tone. She didn't really know better and it was colorful. She started giggling and kept teething on the foam, which she didn't know was bad for her. ReverieRiver 526 August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 The unicorn mare that came to the daycare bearing a tiny filly was, by most standards, pretty. She had a pale cream-colored coat, and a magenta mane that was quite similar in hue to the scruffy mane on her daughter; her eyes were also like that of the unicorn filly's (at least, one of them), a dazzling amethyst shade. She looked tired as she passed the mint green unicorn filly to the attendant, and didn't say much. No tips on how to care for little Ariel or anything of the like. The mare simply gave Ariel over, and then left for work without saying hardly a word to anyone. Meanwhile, the young foal had immediately started fussing the moment she left her mother's grasp, though she did settle down a little when she was placed in the play area, distracted by all the bright, inviting colors. The little filly was lying on her stomach. Though she probably should have been able to be up and walking around or at least crawling, she seemed to have trouble getting up onto her hooves, so she did a sort of army crawl, scooting along on her belly as she pushed herself forward with her hooves. The caretaker picked her up and held her. "Shh... shush... what's the matter, little one?" she asked. She was hungry and she patted her tummy a little and went back to fussing. Her mother did warn them about when she was hungry. She was wailing loudly still and had tears rolling down her little face. The caretaker didn't understand what Riley was saying; that was the way foal language worked. They could speak to each other, but to grown-ups, it was just incoherent babble. She did, however, get that Riley wanted to be fed, so she picked him up. "Whee! I can finawwy fwy!" said Riley, waving his hooves about as he was carried before being placed into the highchair. ReverieRiver 526 August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 Ariel watched the other foals with the caretaker curiously with her mismatched eyes, pausing in her quest to move forward by scooting along on her belly. She simply stared at them, as if uncertain what to make of it at first, only knowing that they were getting attention and she wasn't. As starved for attention as she was, she wanted to get the caretaker's attention. Surprisingly, though, she didn't typically cry unless she had an actual need to be tended to, so she just started whining and whimpering; at the same time trying to push herself up onto her hooves so that she could maybe walk over to them. She preferred the foam piece but this food filled her tummy up. She dived her head down and into the jar of food. She liked the food but the jar got stuck on her muzzle and she couldn't eat. She ate the rest until the jar was clean. She was full but she started crying again. Her diaper wasn't fresh anymore and it wasn't comfortable. She hated the feeling and she was wailing loudly again. Then she tried scooting towards him, grunting as she again struggled to push herself forward with her hooves. This clearly wasn't a very efficient method of getting around. She picked up Shooting and inspected her. "Do you need a diapey-wiapey change?" she said in a soothing tone. She lay Shooting on the changing mat. She undid the diaper and threw it in the trash. She tried to crawl away from her when the dirty diaper was taken off. She was perfectly fine without a diaper on. She couldn't get away though so she waited until she was put on the ground with a fresh diaper to crawl over to the toys again. She played around with a soft teddy bear.
