Mlp Facerig: Somepony make this happen

So I was surfing youtube and what should I find but a fairly new game on steam called Facerig. Basically what it does is it has an avatar that mimics your movement and even lipsyncs what you say (with varying levels of success, but expressions it has down pat). Things I have seen on there have been a Demon, an anime girl, a cat, several wolves, a dragon... and I start thinking...

Why don't we take the Sfm models of Mlp characters and apply this software to it! Think about it, customize your own oc and see it move and talk just like you, or do your impression of the mane six.

https://facerig.com/

Check it out. Do you want to see your oc brought to life like never before with this thing? Could you imagine if the Mlp vloggers used this in their vids instead of static images?

I saw a video of someone pulling this off using a 2d model. It was a generic white-coated grey-lined pony, but it worked. The eye movements, the mouth, everything worked. It was weird. That head-bobbing thing is weird, too. Still, it works.

Would it be possible to post the link? 2d or not it sounds interesting.

Looks neat, wish there was some video however. I don't have the cash nor the justification to buy this until characters I want are introduced(Or at least models of similar characters).

Tell you what, the last time I tried to hook up my camera things didn't go so well, but considering I can get it operational I'll record a video of this in action for you. :)

Ok, good. So, how did it go? Did you get a good recording? Is the model 2d or 3d? And I have to ask... can you customize the character's mane, colour, and eye colour?

It went all right. :) The recording is okay, but not the best as I did it just after I woke up so I'm a bit mumble-y. The model is 2d but it replicates 3d movement; I imagine it's comprised up of several 2d layers. I didn't see any way to customize it, but the 2d module (which is a separate purchase from base Facerig, I should mention) allows a user to create their own avatars so I imagine with some work you could create a decent pony of your own. Sadly this avatar doesn't work unless you have the 2d module.

That was awesome, I actually like these 2d models better than the 3d ones(I love traditional animation). Looks like it could use some work for the pony one, but it looked cool regardless. The anime was pretty well done though, kinda thinking on picking this up now, could probably make some cool stuff with it. Thanks for the video, when you were trying to frown that gave me a bit of a laugh too.

Just note that the 2d module is an additional $4. The pony one definitely needs some work, but I'm not 100% sure on how one would use the editor. They seem to be holding back some features behind an additional purchase of $255 for the PRO version of the Cubism editor, so know that if you use the free editor you'll be limited in some ways. http://www.live2d.com/en/download/comparison After that, actually creating and importing a model seems to be somewhat of a complex process.

I might tinker with the free version of the editor to see what I can accomplish at some point, but since I can only have one texture per model, I'm thinking I might be fairly limited. Honestly, $255 for something like this is a bit through the roof if you ask me, lol.

Yea, no matter what I was to do I can never justify $255 dollars for a product like this. I'll just rely on others who have access to the PRO version then.
