Make a Pony OC?

So, some people were saying I should make an OC Pony for myself. I would love to make one to participate in RP stuff etc, but I don't even know where to begin with that. Any suggestions or feedback on what I should do?

If you want to make a ponsona just take a look in the mirror and base it on yourself.

If you want to make a actual OC just think of a design, color, cm, personality, what they like .etc

when it comes to actual ocs, its best to follow the shows rules, if that's what you wish on doing!

sonas or not, ocs can also have a little bit of you put into them. it can be personality, a thing you like to do and or like in general!
if its just like a sona or something, then it should be based on what you like and or look like! following the rules of the show is optional here, but if you want the character to fit in with the crowd of like ponyville or something, then its like making a normal oc, just with more of you in it!

Contrary to popular beliefs, OCs don't have to be as unique or complicated as possible to be considered a good one. For a roleplaying purposes, even a bland-looking OC can be a decent character if you can make the narrative works.

 

A few pointers:

1. If your OC will look very out of place when he/she's placed in the background of the show, you might want to reconsider his/her appearances
2. Use pastel color, and avoid extravagant physical attributes unless you're ready to cover them in the backstory
3. Make sure to pick a theme and stick to it.

As stated above, its no complex process at all you just make what you want and then bask in the glory of your own, unique Pony. I used a 3D pony maker and a 2D pony maker I'll link them for you so you can get started right away! ^^

When you are done all you have to do is save an image of it using the makers. Hope this helps and I WANNA SEE WHEN YOU ARE DONE XD

I think one step that might be imporant especially if you want to RP.  Give them a trait or two you identify with (especially for a first OC).  If you identify with them it makes it easy to get into character a bit.  My first/main OC, shares a few traits with me.  He is very loyal and cares about his family and friends just like me.  As other have said make sure to give them a flaw or two.  They don't have to be a crippling flaw either.  Maybe a touch of shyness, being a slight klutz or some fear can add some depth to your character. (even better if its a fear and you have a reason and story behind it)

an oc is typically based on the type of person you want to be it can look like you or how you want to look, mine looks like me so that should give you an idea

You can post a thing for them in the character database here.  I am not an expert but I am more than willing to let you bounce ideas off me if you wanted.  Sometimes helping others with OC gives me ideas.

I finished my OC today, what do you think? Please excuse the lack of visual on the cutie mark, I had a very difficult time getting that to work properly, let alone display. I will try and work on that later and update it when I get more time. ^^
