     Everypony in Equestria thinks they know everything about their alicorn rulers. They are nice and kind, showing up to fundraisers supporting the lower classes and having a acute sense of justice. Yet what do they do when the doors of Canterlot Castle are closed, what are their lives really like? Your about today....

     Princess Celestia sits on a plush cushion in her private quarters, she looks out the window over the shining capitol of Equestria and sighs. She had recently spent her hours dealing with the mess Tirek made all across the country and it had severely taxed her, "I need to relax" she muddered under her breath. It had been so long since Celestia had time just to be herself, today maybe she could finally get the R and R she deserved. Trotting over to a small corner table she quickly whips up a small cup of tea and sits down upon her cushion again. Closing her eyes the princess took deep breaths and listened to the ticking of the clocks around the room.

     

     'This isnt right' she told herself, getting up from her position. Being alone in her room was not the way she wanted to spend her day, but what could she do? Looking out the window again, the alicorns eyes drift to the small town of Ponyville, more specifically the crystal castle that towers above it. 'I'll invite Twilight over, that could be fun' she thinks happily, going over to her desk to begin writing a letter. 

 

     'Dear Twilight Sparkle,

 

 Id like to invite you to Canterlot today to have a casual get together, if you can make it please write me back

 

     Your Mentor,

          Princess Celestia'

 

     The princess frowns noticing the shortness of the letter but it should do its job. Firing off a simple spell the scroll vanishes into thin air in a puff of greenish smoke.

As Twilight read her book, she hummed a peaceful melody she had heard Fluttershy teaching her bird friends.

 

Spike was there too, fiddling with a blade of grass... when he belched out a letter.

 

"Gosh, what have you been eating, Spike?" asked Twilight, taking the scroll. 'To think that the wise ruler of Equestria chose such a... crude method of delivery.'

 

She read the scroll. Excellent! A get-together!

 

"Come on, Spike! We're going to Canterlot!" announced Twilight.

 

She picked Spike up and took right off the ground.

The two of them strode through the halls of the castle.

~Meanwhile~

 

*Princess Luna tossed and turned on her bed, trying to sleep, but could not fall asleep unless the entire outside world went quiet for an hour. She sighed and threw her covers off her and sat up.* "Dear Tia, why must you have made the sun so bright." *She mumbled to herself, getting off her bed and walking past her sister's private quarters, located next to her's, on the way to the Royal Kitchens to see if it had anything to help her sleep.*

Celestia waited in her room for several long and tedious minutes before deciding that Twilight had probably teleported to the castle now if she was indeed coming. Slipping quickly into her regalia Celestia left her room, scanning the wide hall outside her room left and right and catching a glimpse of Luna rounding a corner at the end of the hall. 'What a silly pony, she never sleeps when she's supposed to' she thought to herself before deciding to follow her. "Luna!" she called out, "Twilight will be arriving shortly do you intend to join us?"

*Luna stopped in her tracks and turned around and poked her head out around the corner to see her dear sister calling after her. She sighed and went up to Celestia.* "Depends sister, what shall you two be doing? I still am the princess of the night, so I do need my sleep, but I will partake in whatever merriment you have plan nonetheless." *She said, followed by a yawn.*

Twilight and Spike eventually noticed Celestia and Luna conversing. They approached the two sisters.

 

"Hello, Celestia! You too, Luna!" Twilight greeted them. "I'm totally aware of this little get-together of ours, and you bet I'm ready for it!"

 

"Yay!" said Spike.

"Lighten up sister" Celestia tells her with a smile, "We'll just be having a small bit of fun, a casual get together after all the stress we've been through recently" she turns around as Twilight makes herself known, "Oh hello Twilight" she smiles once again at her past pupil, "I'm glad you can make it, and I see you brought Spike along as well"

"Seems reasonable, I guess I shall join you and Twilight. I wasn't getting much sleep anyways." *Luna replied, stretching out her wings and retracting them back to her sides. She turned around as her sister did and noticed the slightly smaller purple alicorn heading towards their way with her Dragon as well.* "Greetings Twilight Sparkle and Spike." *She greeted the two with a smile.*

"Yup! Twilight's number one dragon assis-"

 

"Hush, Spike," said Twilight, turning her head to the over-enthusiastic baby dragon. She then turned to face the two princesses. "So... what are your plans for this little get-together, exactly?" she asked.

 

'I wonder if Celestia baked another one of her delicious cakes?'

"Yes, I was wondering the same thing." *Luna agreed with Twilight. She turned her head to face her sister.* "What have you planned for this day of enjoyment for today?" *She asked Celestia, seeing how this was such a sudden event to be sprung upon them.* "I wonder if it has anything to do with tasting cake." *She added mentally with a silent snicker.*

Celestia threw a glance at her sister, 'How did she know I wanted to have cake?' It seemed like everypony knew about her....infatuation with eating cake, she honestly didn't know how they found out. "Well I do suppose we could pay a visit to the kitchens" she tried to make herself seem reluctant to the idea, "As for my plans Twilight I suppose I never had anything specific in mind but I'll figure something out"

*When she glanced at her, most likely about the cake, Luna merely closed her eyes and shrugged.* "What? It twas not me, I swear." *She said innocently.* "So what do you think we could do on this day of relaxation Twilight, as it seems my sister didn't think this through." *She said, shooting a taunting smile at Celestia.*
