One of my favorite teachers told us that you'll feel the worst coming out of a test you did the best on.  At first I didn't believe him, but since then I've noticed several times when I finished a test and felt like I failed, only to find, upon receiving my grade at a later time, that I'd done even better than expected on it.  I'd like to know if this sort of thing holds true for others, and also how you normally feel before taking a test you do well on both out of simple curiosity and because knowing such information may help to reduce anxiety during or after a test.

So, how do you think your attitude before a test influences your performance, and how is your attitude after taking said test indicative of your score?

P.S.  I realize now the title should be achievement tests, not aptitude.  Totally forgot my AP Psych lessons.  :P  (Aptitude = IQ and stuff, achievement = acquired knowledge tests.... I think).

Sadly Due to my non sleep habbit before exams! (Thank Video Games) Im usually Dead tired in the morning before the exam, and Dead Tired After, Although i do agree with Your statement, Attitude i believe has a large "Impact' on the result on the test,

Ever heard the saying "If you think the test is hard then your going okay (Hopefully) but if your finding it easy, your gonna have a bad time!)

Good Luck with your study!

I usually get 2-4 hours of sleep the night before a big test since my brain functions and remembers things better on barely any sleep (it's how I passed my old achievement tests), so as a result I'm usually tired yet confident. After the test, I don't really care either way and just relax until I get my results back, which are always an A/B grade.

However, I have noticed that having a panic attack during a test I'm unsure of leads to me getting a perfect score.

Basically, for me: Less Sleep + Nervousness = Better Score

If you don't have very much confidence before a test, you're obviously not going to think much of your performance, and since you thought so lowly of yourself during the test, when you get your results back you'll usually notice you underestimated yourself. Not to say that you shouldn't be confident in yourself, just be prepared for whatever score you get.

I'm not so sure about this one. How well I do on a test is directly proportional to the amount I studied. If I study a lot, I'm going to be confident, and I'm going to get a good or near-perfect score. If I don't study, then I'm gonna be wanting to die when I look at the questions.
