碇 シンジン 27,431 November 16, 2014 Share November 16, 2014 (edited) Staff here won't lock the old threads. About the reviving is stated in this FAQ entry http://mlpforums.com/page/faq/_/site-problems/can-i-revive-old-threads-r49 Posting in old threads, often referred to as 'necro-bumping', 'bumping' or 'reviving', is not at all against the rules on this forum. Quite the contrary, you're encouraged to post in even the oldest of discussion threads, if you have something you'd like to add. There's no point in condemning perfectly fine discussions simply because they've begun to gather a little dust. It's the forum activity equivalent of shooting ourselves in the foot. That said, there's three points we'd like all members to be aware of when 'reviving' old threads: 1. Be sure what you're adding is worthwhile content. If all you have to add is a sentence that doesn't bring a whole lot to the table, it's most likely not worth bumping the thread over. Reviving threads is great, but at the same time, bumping too many of them for no good reason clutters the front page of the forum you're posting in. 2. Refrain from bumping threads that don't need to be bumped. Some discussions are everlasting, and can be posted in regardless of date. Topics like 'Favorite pony', for example. There are other threads, like many of the 'news'-esque threads that discuss things only important at the present time, of which don't need to be bumped, because the thread becomes obsolete after it's no longer current. Just think to yourself, 'can posting in this really garnish any more worthwhile discussion?' while venturing through old topics. 3. Please do not revive old threads in the Welcoming Plaza. This is the only forum we do not allow users to bump in, as there is simply no need to do so. Lightwing 12,970 November 16, 2014 Share November 16, 2014 (edited) Necroposting doesn't go against the rules on this forums. In fact,is encouraged as long as you have something new to add to that thread, but there're exceptions to that rules, like necrobumbing welcoming posts.
