Dont rush to get a girlfriend just because you want respect. Is it really worth it that you get a girl you don't know so you can show off to your friends and get a bad reputation for it? The whole "ooh an older girl!" is pretty pointless, age isn't an important factor when it's such a small difference. I'd say find out what they're actually like before committing to one, rather than choosing one and then finding out what they're like. That's going to be much more important than an arbitrary age aspect of the relationship. Basically, just hang out with both of them and gauge their personality and interests before you choose.
