Sunset Shimmer's Fall Formal Photos.

Does anyone believe that the first photo of Sunset Shimmer was that of the original while the two others are of the one we know.

I suppose that is possible. We just don't know that much about Sunset's life in exile from Equestria.

That would support the occasionally touted theory that Equestrian Sunset Shimmer murdered Earth Sunset Shimmer and stole her identity. But personally I refuse to believe that about Sunny.

 

I think it's just intended to show her gradually becoming corrupted by delusions of grandeur from a fairly innocent girl into a megalomaniac. The last photo is a foreshadowing of the demonic creature she would become at the film's climax.

 

This means that the first photo does conflict somewhat with the comic The Fall of Sunset Shimmer which has her already quite evil when she first arrives on Earth, but I think that's probably just because the writers hadn't finished fleshing out her backstory when they made Equestria Girls.

In my opinion, Sunset's Fall Formal photographs were to tell us she was in her senior year of high school, perhaps? 4 photos = 4 falls = 4 years.

Queen Rarity: That's a pretty logical theory. I can see were you're coming from, it does make sense that she could have been a freshman when she entered the human world. But the descent into evil kinda makes me wonder.

 Vital Sparkle: I'm pretty sure Hasbro (or whoever wants the show to be marketed to girls) wouldn't want death in their show (albeit there is one character that did die, but still). This just came in my head at the end of Rainbow Rocks, when they showed human Twilight and dog Spike. I'm pretty sure that raises the question of what happened to human Sunset Shimmer. Maybe she lives in another town and attends another school or maybe not. This just boggles me. Guess we have to wait and see. And corruption with power could also work. Haven't read the comics so I can't really say anything about them.

Well the only reason i see the pictures are actually there is to show us that sunset has won every fall formal prize... thus explaining why nobody else is competing against her. It might be that it shows us an evolution of her character but i doubt it. I believe it was just a way for them to say : "Sunset is ruling this school"... And of course she did

A sort of story telling element then? Unique way of thinking for those photos. Not trying to make it too complicated, you take it at face value then.

I feel she took the crown out of jealousy for Twilight and wanting to take over the human realm, so maybe an effect of leaving Celestia took it's toll on her.

With that another question pops up. How did Sunset Shimmer knew of Twilight's coronation and crown? I have seen a discussion about that, so that can at least answer that, but it's just a theory. A little revenge against Celestia for expelling her from the castle?(I've seen a picture from the comics that some royal guards were escorting her somewhere, but I don't know exactly why) And she did say that the school wasn't her objective, it was conquering Equestria with her "army" and power from the crown, to which she could do something since Cadence say's that it's Equestria's most powerful weapon against evil. So that would leave them defenceless.

This comic is The Fall of Sunset Shimmer. Search for it on Google Images and you should be able to find most/all of it.

 

Sunny is Celestia's prize pupil, but like Twilight shows little interest in making friends with the other pupils at Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. While lecturing Sunny about her arrogance, Celestia makes the mistake of showing her a magic mirror. In the mirror Sunny catches a glimpse of herself as an alicorn princess. Over the following days and weeks, her sense of entitlement grows out of control. She constantly researches the mirror in the castle library, and badgers Celestia with questions. When Celestia refuses to answer, she concludes that Celestia is jealous of Sunny's growing power, and trying to hold her back from her destiny. After a confrontation, Celestia asks the guards to escort Sunny from the castle, but she knocks them out with a spell, and escapes through the mirror.

 

In the library scenes, you can see books on the human world written by people like Megan. Also, once Sunny has stepped through the mirror, take a look at the poster on the ground advertising the "sundance".

I think Earth Sunset Shimmer lives in the city like Earth Twilight Sparkle. So both Sunset Shimmers in the same universe and alive.
