Penna in MLP:FIM?

For those scratching their heads and completely stumped at to what "Penna" are...well, basically, they're shapeshifters. introduced in generation 1, in an episode 4-parter, called "The Ghost of Paradise Estate"*, there are stork/ peacock-like bird creatures with fluffy plumes on their head and tails, and these creatures are able to transform into any shape they desire- such as ghosts, and can live for thousands of years.

 

Unlike the shapeshifter Changelings, though, these Penna don't seem to carry any ill-will towards ponies.

Would Penna being reintroduced in MLP G4 be something people might like to see? Why or why not?

That might not be such a bad idea if done right. The concept could lend itself well to G4. Besides, I kind of want to see more birds in the series. The writers would have to do something at least a little different from the changelings though. I'm not sure if Penna is an actual mythological species or if they were made up for G1, but if they were made up for the show, that was pretty creative. Perhaps they could introduce shapeshifters more in line with General Flea from Chrono Trigger, who has no true form and can be whatever she wants to be.

The CMC meet a creature that an shapeshift in their comic. Though it is some kind of living rock and not a bird.

yeah, that would be a Mimicker. (though I could see potential for that, too. Maybe something alone the lines of Maude realizing that her pet rock, Boulder, is atually a momicker, and it winds up transforming into Pinkie, when she comes back to revisit the mane 6, and stuff ensues)

yeah, we don't have any bird-like characters, so far in season 4- aside from Celestia's pet phoenix, and even then, Philomena isn't given much character, aside from being something of a prankster, like Celestia, herself. Pretty much just hooved master race.

Ehh.... I'd rather see Mimics and Cyclops from real mythologies than some weird bird thing.
