The giant lifted the kelpie high over it's head and a large gaping hole in it's had opened revealing many sharp teeth. It looked down to see Tyra and tried to shake her off. His was kicking it's leg and slamming it into the surface of the water. It kept trying to get rid of her.

Chronos was able to light the stick and held it up and ran towards the giant. He threw a rock at the giant "Hey Oak! over here!" The Giant turned to look at Chronos, who threw the flaming stick, it hit the giant in it's dry torso and it went up in flame. The Giant dropped the Kelpie and the Giant was burning, It roared in pain and fell into the lake.

"Burn in hell" He said silently and ran over to the edge of the lake waiting for Tyra and the Kelpie to come back up.

(Tyra would be in the lake on his wet legs so she is safe from the fire... maybe not the kelpie though)

Tyra was knocked back with every shake of the giant's leg, but instantly picked herself back up and went back to it. She yelped through her teeth as it lifted the huge limb, her axe still attached to it, and clenched her eyes shut as she slammed hard into the lake. As tough as she was, getting thrown that into the surface of water will knock the wind out of anypony.

One of the first things you learn living in an island village is how to swim, and Tyra quickly put that knowledge to use she had her wits about her. Pulling out her axe from the leg and keeping a hoof on her helmet to keep it flying off, she kicked back up to the surface...just in time to see the flaming giant fall right in with her.

The resulting wave picked her up and threw her back onto the surface, rolling to a stop to Chronos' side with her axe and helmet sliding next to her.

"Oof, now that was a battle!" She grinned, hopping to her hooves and shaking herself off like a wet dog. "We showed that monster!"

Nymphaea was particularly preoccupied with the viscous maw beneath her when her vision was suddenly engulfed by bright orange flames. It only took a second for the pain kicked in, searing at her flesh and evaporating the protective film of water that covered her skin in a cloud of vapor. Unconscious, she fell back into the lake, her steaming and burnt body floating back to the surface by the shore like a dead log.

((No she isn't dead.))

Chronos saw the body of the Kelpie and went out into the lake to retrieve the body. He pulled it out of the lake and saw how it was burned, but still alive. "I refuse to slay an unconscious foe... it is dishonorable. Let us wait for it to wake up, maybe it will be nicer now that we saved it from that creature." Chronos said as sat down by the Kelpie, His armor was damaged and he was wet but he didn't shake off the water. He took of his helmet and set it to the side, he pulled down the chain mail coif and pulled some algae out of his mane. He coughed up some water and looked at Tyra and said "You are a brave fighter, and I respect that. The fact you tried to take down the Giant with your ax... well either your crazy or you make dragons seem cowardly..." He said.

Tyra, listening to Chronos, sat back on her haunches and dumped the water from her helmet before perching it back on her head. She grabbed her axe and finally returned it to its harness.

"I appreciate your words, friend," She squeaked, flashing a wide toothy grin, "you are quite the formidable warrior yourself, delivering such a final blow that the beast was set ablaze!" She looked ahead at the smoking, still slightly burning giant in the lake. "I am most impressed!"

She stood back up and trotted over to the kelpie's lifeless body, giving her a soft nudge with a hoof. "Perhaps we should nudge her back into the water and see if it brings her to life." She adds with an awkward smile, "I will admit, I have never met such a creature before..."

"It was nothing, the creature looked like a tree so I guessed it still burned like one, and I was luckily correct." He looked at Tyra. "So what brings you to this island?" Chronos asked, as he took his sword and sheathed it. He took the sheath off his belt and set the sword aside so he could sit normally. He looked at the surrounding trees and the burning giant which will no long bother anypony anymore. 'are there more around here?' He thought.

Tyra trotted back over to Chronos and sat across from him, beaming proudly up at him.

"Well, I am a sellsword," she began, putting a hoof to her chest as she stuck it outward, "From the village of Trotstheim, in the Frozen North! I have been travelling to all kinds of lands, offering my services to anypony in need."

She craned her neck around and pulled her axe off her back, showing the nicked and notched weapon to Chronos in closer detail. It'd obviously seen its fair share of battles.

"I was told that this island would hold many treasures, and even more monsters to fight, so I got on the first boat I could find!" Another toothy grin escapes her. "Though I hope there is an inn or a tavern closeby, I've gone far too long without a good cider."

Tyra pouted at the unfortunate lack of a tavern, but her face lit up at the bottle, practically snatching it from Chronos' hoof.

"Ah, thank you much!" She squeaked, pulling off the lid and proceeding to guzzle down the carbonated goodness.

Once she'd heard him ask about how many battles she's had, she finally stopped her swig. Just about half the bottle had been depleted.

"Oh, many!" She exclaimed proudly. "Bandits, minotaurs, griffins and all other kinds of opponent have been met with my axe. And at a losing effort!"

It was obvious this little mare lacked any confidence issues.

Suddenly Nymphaea's bloodshot eyes shot open and her mouth gaped at the air like that of a fish. Her rubbery skin stung everywhere and her throat felt dry and cracked as if she had hadn't drank in years. Vaguely she registered the shapes of ponies nearby, however she was in too much pain for her mind to recognize them. "Vann!" the kelpie croaked in a language neither of the adventurers understood, "vennligst gi meg vann."

((Atlus? Atlas))

"Good shot!" I shouted not knowing exactly where he was. *THANK* I hit hard into another charging 'pony' downing it almost instantly. My musket must have gotten them up and running. "Not very smart, are ya?" All that was left was the final pony I'd knocked down earlier who had yet to recover. He attempted to get himself back up but I knocked him down.

I yanked a piece of rope from my bag and tried to hogtied him before he could try and snap at me. Tried. As I was finishing the knot he bit my leg. "лайно!" When'd I start shouting Old Griffon expletives? Well not that matters since I think my leg is bleeding out.

So I finished the hogtie at least. Sure I'd bled all over it but he wasn't going to bite me again. "Celestia damn it! I think he took a chunk of my leg" Yeah... It wasn't going to die or anything... Well if it got infected maybe. I'd had worse.

"So let's see. I've got a bum leg and now an injured leg. This is going great! ... Good shot by the way. You saved my butt back there. Hey, mind grabbing as many random artifacts as you can while I dress my leg? That musket's a bit loud and I'm sure there's more of those things will be here any second"

I pulled some first aid gear out of my pack and began dressing it. Alcohol... Ouch... Ouch... Ouch... Rag... Gauze... Why'd I tie one of them up? I probably should have thought about that BEFORE doing that. A bit late now... Maybe I could bring it with me? That would be a stupid idea... I'll ask Cosmo I guess. I knew what the answer would be but I'd still ask.

She got onto her hooves and trotted over to the Kelpie, looking down at her with mild concern. She pressed a hoof into her cheek, nudging her softly.

"She does not look so good," She muttered, then lowered her face down to hers, eyes wide, "Can you understand me, creature?"

Nymphaea took a second to absorb the cool water as it washed over her burnt skin, eliminating the pain and easing her wounds. She had closed her eyes and just begun to relax when she was inharmoniously disturbed by a prodding at her face. Opening her pale eyes, the kelpie glared angrily up from her position in the shallow water. She briefly considered grabbing the small mare above her and dragging it into the depths of the small lake, she probably would have had her body been fully recovered. Instead she simply settled for scowling up at her prey-turned-saviors.

"I understand some" she said slowly without breaking eye contact with the mare.

Tyra lifted her head back up to look at Chronos, her head slightly tilted.

"Well, we did save her life from that giant, so maybe she will trust us enough to speak with us?"

She leans back down to look at her again.

"Besides, she still looks rather weak. Perhaps a sign of good will shall convince her?" She began to innocently splash at the water, gently hitting the Kelpie's face with small waves.

'Maybe I should eat this one, she is quite frustrating' the kelpie thought to herself, hissing threateningly at the mare's incessant pestering. With a deep breath she calmed herself and craned her neck back to better see the armored stallion.

"You do not have words for what I am" she spoke in the same raspy voice. Slowly, so as not to startle the ponies, Nymphaea found her hooves and rose to meet the stallion at eye-level. "This place is a tainted place, nothing to eat. I am lonely, and hungry, very hungry."

@@Firehearted,

(my bad, i had a friend who spelled his name "Atlus" it's an old habit.)

I jumped down from the tree and went over to Atlas, to make sure he was okay. I could careless about the artifacts, if I had any chance of getting off this island I would need him in the best shape possible. By the time I got over to him he had already patched himself up so there was little for me to do, without saying a word I numbed his leg a little using my magic. A little something I learned growing up, pain killers were typically too expensive. My head throbbed a little but not too much, I wasn't overly exerting myself so I was fine for now. I had keep my magic usage to a minimum, I'd be useless otherwise.

"Are you alright?" I asked him before pulling my bolt out of that other ponies head, checking to see if it was still in good condition. " That was some crazy plan of yours, where did you get that idea?"

This was hardly the craziest thing I've seen him do in the little time I'd known him, (this was nothing compared to that crazy stunt on the boat.) but it still worries me where this guy gets his train of thought. Is he really an experienced adventurer? His combat skills are certainly excellent, but he seems rather reckless. Oh well, maybe he's learned his lesson from this.

I tossed the bolt i pulled out of that ponies skull aside, after assessing the damage it was too broken to be reused again. That's a shame, I didn't pack too many bolts with me. Then again I didn't expect that last heist to go so south that I'd actually have to fight extensively, combat is such a pain. It's honestly horrifying how unprepared I was for the dangers in this island, though once again I could have never even predicated this anyway. I'm just going to have to try and avoid any unnecessary combat and hope Atlas doesn't drag me into anything too dangerous.

That just leaves one thing, what exactly are we going to do with this thing here.

Tyra sat back and wore a face of total concern, though for a completely different reason.

"Oh, I understand perfectly," she nodded sagely, reaching into her tunic, "going so long without food can make me rather irritable too!"

She pulled out a see-through bag, containing a small half-eaten loaf of bread. She'd acquired it before her trek to the island, but it was still fresh. She was sure it was.

"Will this suffice for now?" She asked, dropping the bag on the edge of the lake by the Kelpie, "You may have the whole thing if you desire!"

Nymphaea narrowed her eyes at the stallion's question. In all her long life, not once had another creature asked for her name, she was unsure of how to respond. "You have not earned my title" she answered cautiously, breaking eye contact with the stallion and looking out over the water. "There are more of me, they are bad company" she said solemnly. "Bad to eat too" she added as an afterthought as she took interest in the small bag of what she presumed must have been food.

Curiosity present in her face, Nymphaea approached the bag. With one hoof she folded back part of the top, just enough to reveal a corner of the bread loaf. Hissing loudly, the kelpie scuttled backwards away from the offending yeast. "Ta det bort" she demanded, squinting her eyes closed and holding a hoof in front of her face.
