Hi, I have gun questions.

1. How long is the barrel on a nine-millimeter sig sauer?
2. Are automatic guns inherently less accurate than single-shot guns? Why?
3. How much metal would it take to craft one's own gun?
4. What kind of gun could an average-sized man hiding from the law craft on the run?
5. What if he had a workshop, a budget of 1000-2000 USD, and one hour a day to spend on it?
6. What if he had an unlimited budget, but he had to use a credit card that could only buy £100 worth of gear or parts at a time?
7. Can an olympic-level shooter shoot as well with an automatic, if they are good at using said automatic?
8. What is gunpowder made from, and could someone feasibly make their own?
9. Is medieval-ish DnD Heavy Plate Armour good for stopping bullets?
10. Does a 15mm handgun exist, and would it be any good if it did exist?

One Military question:
M. What skills, proficiencies, abilities and talents would a man have if he was under 20, and was either a R.A.F. Royal Air Force Reserve pilot, or the USA equivalent? The thing where you get military training and then spend a couple of days every year as a soldier.

I am a writer.

 

I have never held or used a gun in my life.

 

I am writing a novel where the main character uses guns, AND LOTS OF THEM.

 

Forgive me for being a simple UK Englishman, never knowing the joy of shooting skeet at the firing hole on your tenth birthday with his old man watching as America * Yeah plays on your iPod.

 

Edit: Also, I googled these questions and got nothing. Except for the sig sauer gun barrel length, that one depends on the make and model. I picked the one that looked coolest while still having good stats, and added to those stats to create a fictional gun. And what gunpowder is made from, that was also answered. As for the rest of the questions, they still stand unanswered.

 

 

Do not worry, the line about the american kid's party is a joke that plays on two things:

1: The (Good) American Stereotype. Everyone has guns, everyone likes awesome music, everyone looks either awesome or nonawesome and sounds like either Bill And Ted, Applejack, Spongebob Squarepants or Edward Elric.

2: In Fallout 3, you and your dad(And his friend) sneak away from your tenth birthday to go to the basements and shoot targets with a mediocre BBgun Rifle, and then shoot a cockroach with it.

The fact that you are a writer would have been a good disclaimer to make in the op. Someone asking about making gun powder and illegal guns while running from the law kinda throws up some red flags.

 

To answer your first question. Sig Sauer is a gun manufacturer not a specific gun and likewise 9mm is a gun cartridge not a specific model of gun. Sig makes several models of handguns chambered in 9mm with barrels ranging from roughly 3 to 5 inches long.

Also: when googling, I found the sig sauer website. Holy crap, they have made a lot of guns. I found the custom one to be quite interesting. Could a person, in theory, make some kind of high-cost high-spec awesome gun that only they owned? Though this question is not as important as the others.
