What Pony Armor/Weapons could look like

I was highly amused to see this vid on a very manly channel called AWE-me on youtube. They make functioning weapons based on video game, anime, and other designs and concepts. This particular episode was about a type of weapon that could be used by a pony from Mlp. 

 

 

As you can imagine, anti-bronies convulsed and frothed at the mouth upon viewing it as the like and dislike bar would suggest. While this just adds to my mirth this isn't the focus of why I posted this. 

 

Do you think in a war type situation they would use weapons like this? In the comics and in the show its been made more than clear that Equestria has had times of war, and we've seen armor on a number of occasions, but what about weaponry? Would a Chamfron be a good weapon for a pegasi or an earth pony since they don't have a horn? Isn't that what Twilight was wearing when she was a Power Pony? 

 

They have hooves so the way they would fight would be entirely different than how we would, even if their hooves have the ability to lift and manipulate objects. 

 

What kinds of weapons have been used by horses in battle before? How could weapons be modified for Equine use, like a gun for an earth pony (no finger to pull the trigger or way of really stabilizing the shot)?

In MLP, the characters can manipulate items even though the ponies lack a thumb. So almost any weapon humans have would work . . . except ponies do not ambulate upright. The pony would have to stand on two legs (stop) to use the weapon unless he/she was flying.

 

While the chamfron they made was truly art - it is not that practical. If the equine using it was in a gallop the potential for neck injury is high. Then you face the huge problem man has faced w/ stabbing tools - getting stuck momentarily which can easily get you killed. Plus you have the issue of securing the chamfron to the equine. Too much side-to-side force and the thing slides off.  

 

I am thinking that in the MLP universe magical/psy weapons are the way to go.
