I have been in a Rocky phase this week. Even though it's not my generation and I'm 22, I love love love these movies.

1.) Rocky:

Timeless, people say it's dated, but it doesn't throw the pop culture into your face like III, IV and V did. It's the underdog story and a true love/drama. I love this movie because it's about all of us, maybe getting that one shot. Trying to make your mark, despite all the odds against you. It also has an ending that makes me emotional. The best ending to a movie is Star Wars 1977, but the final scene in Rocky comes close.

 

Rocky II: A great sequel, a man trying to get his life on track and about Appollo Creed realizing he finally has met his match to a more determined fighter than he is. Sure the final fight might be the exaggerated, but you still feel good in the end. Also Gonna Fly Now is better in this, than the first movie. Running in the sun light all the way to the stairs is breath taking.

 

Rocky Balboa: A movie many don't like. This captures the spirit of the original movie. People who make old Stallone jokes are immature, and never got what Rocky is about. This is about proving to people that he still has the heart and drive, like in the first movie at an old age. It's the best ending to the series, I know Rocky VII: Creed is coming. But to me, this is the way to end the Rocky character.

 

Rocky III: It's corny sure. But it's good at telling about how Rocky is at the height of his career and loses that spark and drive he had and how he deserved to lose. I don't like watching him lose. But to see him come back after being trained by Creed, showed he wasn't a freak. He's a fighter who can fight superior physical boxers.

 

Rocky V: The one everyone hates. In short, yes it's got early 90s cheese. But I love scenes such as the Mickey flash back and the street fight. Tommy Gunn is a bad villain and I also hate Don King(lol) in the movie. But the ending with measure of a man is great with the stills

 

Rocky IV: Shocked? I don't hate the movie. But it's just so over the top and I can't believe it's the prequel to Rocky 6. Rocky 6 is serious and depressing, this movie is like a super hero movie. But the montages are the best in the series overall. Apollo Creed steals the show, because he's the only one to get character development.

TLDR? Well hope ya did. I wanted to explain, better than just plain listing.
