Need a little mane design help

I already have the background for this pony, I know her colors even. But I have no idea what kind of mane and tail she should have. I have been experimenting with a base and nothing I have came up looks good to me. 

 

 

A somewhat shy yet adventurous pony, she is often exploring in long forgotten tunnels with her bat pony friend River Moon. They live in a large underground city called Lumiria which has a mix of bat ponies and Lucian Ponies who over generations have worked together to help each other thrive. The city itself being a pretty sight due to all the homes having gems of all sorts embedded in them. Secret Light lives in the lower districts of the city. Her family aren't poor.They just live among some of the newer homes since the city is always expanding. The city being interesting in the way it is layed out. The city when it was first founded was a large oval cavern that had been worn out by water thousands and thousands of years in the past. Anyway, high up near the top are homes carved out of the wall. These are the oldest homes and were first made by the bat ponies. It wasn't until later that the Lucian ponies found their way to this cave. By then the top

 levels had been

 taken by the bat ponies. 

The lower levels however, were free for the Lucian Ponies to build on. The first homes of both the bat ponies and the Lucian ponies were carved into the side of the cavern with paths winding around them to get to the higher levels. 

Over time the two pony races had expanded into the cave and while the bat ponies didn't need the glittering gems like the Lucian Ponies did they added opals to their homes to help them get the light the Lucian needed. These gems not being rare at all in the cavern, it having a huge deposit. Most of the houses were built out of stone and gems native to the cave. However some of the locals chose to simply make homes out of existing stalagmites and large crystal formations to avoid the hassle. But as a result of the harvesting of stone and rock for homes there are a few mines and tunnels. Secret  Light's family was among the first of the Lucian ponies that had made their home in this city. Though the records of that were lost to time since the library and its archives weren't built until later. Secret Light has a happy life despite not knowing her family's whole history. She lives with her mom, dad, and two older brothers, who of which sometimes likes to

 pick on her. But that is what older brothers are for I suppose though they can get a little rough for her.

 On top of that she finds it hard to make friends because when she meets new ponies she tends to just freeze up, once she gets over that first fear though she is friendly and kind. Despite her shyness she is really adventurous sometimes too much so for her own good, after all no one in the city ever goes to the surface unless needed besides the bat ponies. She however, likes to sneak outside at night when it is cloudy with her friend River Moon. The two haven't been caught yet luckily though there has been some close calls. Despite the rules against young Lucian ponies going to the surface she would love to one day see more of it and explore. The first time she had gone up she had been reluctant only gong because River insisted she come outside with her. She had always had trouble saying no to her friend so she let herself be dragged up the path into the night. 

That night when she first had the cool night breeze hit her she was surprised by what she saw. The

 clouds while they were covering the moon, didn't keep her from seeing the wonderful forest that was blooming with night spring flowers and filled with night animals. While she was up there on the surface she saw some animals such as owls and not wanting to lose the memory of them when she returned home she found some gems deep in the tunnels and crafted them into small jeweled copies of the animals. This is how she earned her cutie mark and its the ability to make copies of things she has seen that fuels her inspiration. If you are wondering how she can make these things without hiding them, well that is because she says River supplied her with descriptions of the animals.

Since she never breaks any rules and is normally honest she has been able to get away with it. Anyway while she keeps her favorites in her room she will sell some of the others she has made. She really only does this when there is something she would really like but doesn't have the money for. Though this is a rare occurrence for her since she doesn't often find something that she likes. The rare ones that she does sell she'll embed them with magic light like those around the city so they can be night lights. 

When she isn't exploring with her friend or carving jewel critters she likes to read stories, fantasy over history to be exact. She can't help but find history a bit dull however, she does have some interest in mythology however.  

She met River Moon by way of school, they grew up together and luckily don't live too far from each other.  If anypony ever gives Secret a hard time due to her timid nature River will normally step in and make sure they back off.

Her favorite food happens to be normal apples though she has a fondness for glow apples as well. Their food is grown in a separate cavern that is connected to the city. Crystals embedded with light by the ponies help the food grow, it also these same lights that lighten up the streets and homes the soft glow from the lights not bothering the bat ponies as harsher bright light would. The Lucian ponies grow all sorts of things there and the food cavern leads outside where some bat ponies grow some kinds of food that can't be grown inside the caves. This is where the normal apple trees for example are planted. Well not really outside its more of a giant sinkhole so there are walls around it, its just open to the sky. These being a lucky treat for everyone who lives there because bat ponies and Lucian ponies don't always have such a large mixed community. It isn't uncommon, but most bat ponies prefer to have easy access to the outside world, while Lucian

 ponies don't really go out because the moonlight and sunlight harms them, so ease of outside access isn't the first thing on their minds. Well until you get the few more adventurous ones like Secret Light. 

 

Note: Her cutie mark is a crystal with a camera lens, button, and flash. It representing the fact she can make a perfect copy of things she has seen. Like a 3D crystal/gem picture. And like a picture her talent only allows her to recreate poses she has seen.

I actually quite like the two designs.

The second one is the closest one I got to liking. Thing is that I want a mane that shows both adventurousness and shyness but is also somewhat unique. But most of the manes I've came up with have reminded me of Fluttershy, AppleJack and Starlight Glimmer. I'm wanting a mane that when I look at it I don't see a resemblance to a character in the show's mane. But today will be day three of trying. 

The hardest part is I have to go back later and make the mane look like glass.

Personally, I prefer the first, because it looks a little more distinctive to me, and doesn't seem as close to existing ponies.

Though, if it looks a little off, I think it may be able to be fixed--the back and front lengths of hair don't match, as the back one is a good bit bigger. Also, you might be able to add a little bit to the back of the head, as it is it looks like she's missing some hair behind the ears.

 

Anyways, I think you're on the right track, even if you choose the second one in the end.

I never added the back part its there for example. It was suppose to look a bit like Kikyo's hair style since I like the bits of long hair in front of the ears. However it doesn't look anything like that I kept trying but that is one of the last examples I tried before giving up and moving on.

Well one thing i could tell you keep in mind. Is that get general idea of how mane looks from diffrent angels. Just in case want to draw it one in while. To keeo the mane still looking consistent. Other thing can recomand is if make your mane style to complez it also going be more work for you to draw everysingel time. It's just few thing take into consideration. Be side that i say can make your many however you want. But make sure it attched right to nack and head. Mane growth come out in spasfic way if think abut it and at neck it look kind of a stright line going up the spin, where the hair is attached. When come color. Try to find something compliments your coat color.
