Viewing of Topics and Post

I think the viewing the topics makes it hard for new content to be read. Further studies in My Little Lab have shown that posting the 1st page provides context and basic information to the viewer and subsequent posts should be viewed newest to oldest would give newer posts more chances to be read, more often than not, it has been concluded, that a pony will walk away from a topic after around 10 pages.

It's a forum.

Forums tend to work like this. Oldest being the last.

 

You can read the first page and directly move to the last page to get your wish.

You'd be reading it wrong way around, but there you go.

 

Don't see the point of complete overhaul over a point I never heard before.

Would you be willing to provide details of where these statistics came from? Then maybe we can have a better understanding of what you're trying to say.

 

So, basically you think posts should be viewed newest to oldest? Well, on the mobile version at least when you click the thread it immediately jumps to the latest post since you posted or latest post since you last read. I'm not sure if this feature is implamented in the desktop version.

 

However like like its already been said, it's counterproductive to do that, since you can simply click on the latest page to jump the the newest information. Also, if some one leaped into the thread and found this strange inverted argument going on at the start, the user would likely be very confused and just ditch it entirely without even reading.

 

In the end its not something we need to do, and isn't worth the trouble it would cause. At least thats how i feel about it. Feld0 may feel different about it.

Sorry guys, this was meant to half joke/half serious kind of post. The statistics are made up, but I was just outing my opinions. I mean I felt that it just makes it easier for me at least. I'm not asking for a site overhaul. It's pretty late at night and I'm not really thinking properly.

 

Also it's just scopes talking there and not me. I just meant it as an option like a filter of sorts(with a button) just switching the way one views the info.

 

The stats are meant for comedic purposes and I thought it was implied when I said "My Little Labs"

You can use forums any way you like to.

No-one forces you to read the first post first.

 

All the tools are there already, no more more clicking is involved to use them as you describe compared to the "normal" way.

From this angle it sounded a bit like spam with the exagerated words and statistics. I see now though that you were just joking. Still, when discussing things like this its best to give full details of your suggestion and at least make it somewhat more obvious that you are joking and not spamming. Sorry i misinterpreted it a little bit.

I'm not going to change the sort order of posts, I'm afraid. It's a standard expectation of forums that they sort their posts from oldest to newest within topics, and sorting them the other way around would only confuse most of our visitors.

 

However, if you click the blue circle (or star, if you've posted in the topic) to the left of a topic's name, it will take you right to the first unread post in it. You can also look for the "Go to first unread post" link beside the reply button at the top of a topic. I use these all the time to help stay on top of things and keep up with new posts.
