Guest April 13, 2012 Share April 13, 2012 (edited) How do you react to people discovering you're a brony? Do you laugh, blush, cry, get itchy? ---I usually make my revelation memorable and awkward. (I'll just stare at the person who reacts in the most outlandish fashion until they start to wriggle.) I like observing how my presence affects their behavior once I enter a room (after they've discovered I'm a brony.) It's funny when you overhear others talking about you and you're the one messing with them, not the other way around. Most of the time, I stay quiet and mind my own business (unless I feel like starting something XD). How has it affected your life so far? Has it been beneficial or destructive? ---For the most part, I've made more friends than enemies. I'd my best to not get teachers or bosses involved, though. (Unless you know they're "chill") Feel free to expand on any of the questions above. If you'd like to, leave a story about specific experiences you've had. Just conducting a curious, nonofficial empirical study. ^^^ God, I love that symbol. ^^^ Edited April 13, 2012 by Guest

Key Gear 6,663 April 13, 2012 Share April 13, 2012 (edited) How do you react to people discovering you're a brony? Do you laugh, blush, cry, get itchy? In all honesty, I never use the word "brony" to describe myself unless I am talking to someone that already describes themselves as a brony. Because people have no idea what a brony is, they are likely to fill in the blank with all kinds of strange things. For this reason, I prefer to tell people something like this: "I have taken to watching a wonderful animated show that features ponies." Most people usually shrug and move on with their lives at that point. If people continue to be inquisitive though, then I will talk to them about the community and all of the amazing fan-made content out there. If they stick around to hear all of that, then I may talk about bronies. I have found that it is good to ease people into things and to not make such a huge deal out of watching a show that is just good, quality entertainment. How has it affected your life so far? Has it been beneficial or destructive? As far as my social network goes, it hasn't actually had much of an affect at all. I think that this is because I am no longer in a school or college environment, so I don't have to deal with peers of any kind. I would imagine that things would be far more interesting if I still had to participate in some type of educational institution. I work by myself, so I have no workplace happenings to report either. A very boring existence. Feel free to expand on any of the questions above. If you'd like to, leave a story about specific experiences you've had. Well, these aren't my stories exactly. However, I did introduce everyone around me to the show, so I feel comfortable taking at least partial credit. My younger brother has had fun in college sitting around in crowded rooms watching ponies on his laptop with his back turned to the room. Many times a small crowd of curious onlookers will form around him. He has made a few friends that way. I have a friend of mine that is disturbingly good at introducing people to the show. He has pony-related wallpaper on his laptop, and people are always asking him questions about it. He actually carries around pony-business cards that he hands out to people that are extremely curious. No one that I know has encountered any destructive effects due to letting people know that they watch the show. With that said, I have tutored everyone that I introduced to the show to try not to use the word "brony" early in a conversation. It is a strange sounding word, and I think that it invites the imaginations of some people to run completely wild. Guest April 13, 2012 Share April 13, 2012 Let me clarify: How do people react when you tell them you watch My Little Pony? I don't tell people what a brony is unless they want to hear more about why I follow the show. (Thank you, Scootacool.)
Jokarr 70 April 13, 2012 Share April 13, 2012 my reaction usually falls along the lines of "yeah, thats right' its rainbowdash" when people see my brony shirt otherwise i love slippin lil hints into convos about ponies and mlp until someone catches on XD its the only way to enjoy life in wyomg i recently walke up to one of my friends in school (who i dont talk to all that much) and some of his friends while wearing my brony shirt. its was the weirdest thing. at the exact same time they all breathed in deeply and stared ar me. then they all burst out screamin and freakin out. appaerntly its hard to comprehend me bein a brony, dont klnow why tho. since the brony community in Gillette is so low and few i usually always lead a convo with mlp or bein a brony just piss the rednecks off XD it makes my day i get bored alot
