Let's say, sometime in the future; Chrysalis and Celestia signed a peace treaty and Changelings are now part of Equestria society.

I've always wondered if the Changelings could sustain themselves on genuine love instead of receiving it falsely from someone they were impersonating. Does the love they feed upon have to come from another species? You would think they could simply love one another, right? Well anyway to answer your question, no I don't believe Ponies and Changelings could live together in harmony. How could they? Ponies know Changelings impersonate those they trust quite literally for a living.

I see what you mean, I can see a secondary Changeling leader(or soldier if possible) can eventually see that they are hurting both sides if they continue this. Celestia would try to avoid war or other conflicts and would come up with a way for the changelings to feed without hurting anypony. As for the rogue; no doubt about it. They're bound to be eventual conflicts from both sides and the ponies can't just forgive the changelings right away. But don't forget, they have a spirit of chaos on their side; I doubt a few rotton apples(changelings) would try something knowing that they're are 5 gods(Celestia, Luna, Cadence, Twilight and Discord) on the ponies side and one of them can erase your existence with a snap of a talon.

I mostly agree with this. My exception is with your last statement. Chrysalis can't be demoted or overthrown, because she isn't the "Queen" as in a monarchy way, as much as she is the "queen" as in a bee or ant colony kind of way. All the other changelings are akin to the drones of the colony.

I feel Changelings can live alongside ponies and live off their love. After all the ponies exhibit the most love and friendship out of all the other species so far they have plenty to give around. By helping ponies with their chores and getting a job in Ponyville, Changlings can become outstanding citizens probably the best since they don't need money, they just want your love.

I agree on the Changelings co-existing with ponies if they feed of their love in a manner that doesn't affect them. Seeing this compromise or possible agreement of sorts would be very interesting in the show. Or at least how they can arrive to such a conclusion.

So, the changelings feed on love, right?  Do they eat it?  Like, can they deep fry it?  Sauteé it?  Bam it up a notch with some hot sauce?  Pour a bowl of Love-O's?

 

Seriously, though, the changeling species facinates me.  It doesn't seem like they all have to be necessarily evil.  Is a lion evil for eating a zebra?  The changelings can't help being what they are.  And there's surely a way for them to get all the love they need without hurting anyone.  I think it's possible for changelings and ponies to coexist.  I think a story of a changeling who's truly kind and compassionate, but seen by everyone as evil because of what she has to do to survive, could be very compelling.  Is that a fan fiction yet?  If not, chop chop.

 

Sombra was d*uche, Tirek was a d*ck, but the changelings seem to me like they could be a misunderstood race.  I mean, Crysalis seemed pretty evil, but I also feel like there's potential for other sides to the story.  I think she could be a character that we almost feel sorry for, if we see her story.  And those are the best villains, aren't they?  The ones that aren't clear cut evil, but they have reasons for what they do, and sometimes you like em, and can't decide if they're evil or not.  Like Magneto.  Or a lot of GoT characters.  Take Jamie Lannister for example.  Season 1 - bad guy.  Later on -  I don't know.  Good guy?  In between?  After that hot tub scene with Brienne, you really like him!  That's how Crysalis could be.  I think the changelings could be equated to the wildlings.  Like Maybe Twilight goes to the far side of the world to try to make peace with the changelings a la Jon Snow at Hardhome.

 

There's so much potential with the changelings, and that's why I think this is what the movie should be about.

 

I love this picture.  It makes me feel so sorry for Crysalis.  It's entitled, "The Unsung End."  Isn't that so sad?!

 

 

It makes me think about the power of forgiveness, and our capacity to see other points of view, which is very powerful.  It's like when Ella forgave her stepmom at the end of the new Cinderella.

The problem with the Changelings is that we know so little about them, and it doesn't help that the show has seemingly forgot about them. The comics, though, have seemingly gone with a more evil interpretation of them, but even then that only tells us so much about their motivations.

 

As such I would like to believe they could live side-by-side with ponies, but the sad fact is that we just don't know.
