Durandal 623 August 22, 2015 Share August 22, 2015 (edited) I don't necessarily think that the ponies themselves are speciest, but rather, the writers. On the contrary most instances of foreign species seem to be met with initial suspicion followed by complete integration. After Zecora's debut Ponyville appears to just accept her presence once she's revealed not to be evil. The Mane six don't bat an eye at Steven. Gilda is well-received until she's revealed to be an ass, while other Griffons appear to be treated as equals. Lord Tirek's brother was treated well enough to plead for Tirek to stop on their behalf. Iron Will is treated as if he were another pony. Breezies are treated as an annual spectacle. Hell, even after being kidnapped Rarity doesn't seem particularly intimidated by or angry at the Diamond Dogs. The only species that are treated with any substantial fear or hostility are typically very predatory and probably have a reason behind their status. Otherwise ponies are incredibly quick to integrate foreign species. I wouldn't say that they're incredibly passive in their superiority because eventually you'd see some result of that, but I've failed to find any instances. And honestly, it makes a bit of sense. Ponies as a civilization aren't really one, but three different species: Earth ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi. It would make sense that if their culture is capable of seamlessly integrating three different species into a single race, entirely different species wouldn't face much of an integration barrier.
