Steel sighed "don't sell yourself short lily" steel said "you'd be surprised most stallions are waiting for a mare Like you" steel said as they walked steel checked a his Map making sure they where headed in the right direction he noticed lily shiver and created sometime manipulating it to his back "if your cold you can walk close to the fire"he said

Sparkle's underside was scratched and bloody she had hit a cluster of rocks if she had been a little bit further to the left her heart would be skewered on a rock " M...Mist? " She said "wh...what happened to me? Why does everything hurt Mist? " she looked up into his eyes "why?"

 

"You crashed a-and you've been hurt pretty badly," Mist said as he eyes began to water, "b-but it's gonna be alright, you hear me? I'm gonna get you back to the cabin and fix you up." Mist carefully pickup Sparkle in his arms, making sure not to touch her underside, "I'm sorry if this hurts but the faster I get you to the cabin the better," Mist kissed her forehead, "everything's gonna be alright." Mist spread his wings and flew top speed towards the cabin.

"You crashed a-and you've been hurt pretty badly," Mist said as he eyes began to water, "b-but it's gonna be alright, you hear me? I'm gonna get you back to the cabin and fix you up." Mist carefully pickup Sparkle in his arms, making sure not to touch her underside, "I'm sorry if this hurts but the faster I get you to the cabin the better," Mist kissed her forehead, "everything's gonna be alright." Mist spread his wings and flew top speed towards the cabin.

Sparkle lay in Mist's hooves "Mist please D...don't cry I..I'm still alive..." She said wiping the tears from his eyes "ach! No stop it hurts! " She exlamed as the cold air and snow worked it's way deeper into the cuts "stop please...Please... Please" Sparkle eventually fainted from mostly exhaustion

Sparkle lay in Mist's hooves "Mist please D...don't cry I..I'm still alive..." She said wiping the tears from his eyes "ach! No stop it hurts! " She exlamed as the cold air and snow worked it's way deeper into the cuts "stop please...Please... Please" Sparkle eventually fainted from mostly exhaustion

 

Mist stopped and flew on the spot, "I know you're still alive it's just, well this is gonna sound stupid and cliché but, I love you and I can't stand to see you in pain like this." Mist continued to fly but this time he flew at a much slower speed, "I'll fly slower, and I'm sorry if this hurts, but I have to get you to the cabin to fix up you're wounds."

 

It took Mist awhile but he eventually got to the cabin. He took Sparkle inside, "Steel! Lilly! Is anyone there? Sparkle's been hurt." shouted Mist. He took Sparkle over to the couch and lay her carefully down, "just stay here and rest, I'm gonna go find a first aid kit."

Sparkle's mane fanned out on the couch and she slowly woke up and looked around the cabin from where she was lying, she looked down at her underside (which was facing upwards towards the ceiling) and almost fainted again so she decided not to look at it instead focusing on the radio room towards the back of the house, she chose to try and find out what the metal box was. So completely forgetting about the enormous pain she was in got up and walked into the radio room

"Well you can say that all you want but I don't exactly see anyone lined up." Lily glanced at Steel's map as he pulled it out. She saw some minor differences compared to hers and figured one or the other was out of date. She decided to ignore it for right now and follow him to see if it was his or hers. She moved over closer to Steel to try to keep warm, her side almost touching his."Thanks, I hope that doesn't tire you out too much".

Steel smiled "I'll be fine lily" he said he felt nervous and had butterflies in his stomach and he wasn't sure why -could it be because she so close to me right now-steel thought as he walked -I need to get his mare out of my head I'm half demon I have no time for this stuff- he thought no really convincing himself

Lily smiles back at Steel. "Well if you're really sure you'll be ok, I don't want you to be too tired when we get to the mine in case we run into anything big mean and scary." She said while slightly moving closer to him. She wasn't a big fan of catching her coat on fire but she had to admit to herself that she really liked being close to him, maybe for more than just the warmth she thought with a small blush.

After a bit of time searching Mist found the first aid kit. He looked in side, (Bandages, antiseptic, painkillers, everything I need,) he thought to himself triumphantly. Mist walked back to the couch Sparkle was lying on. He dropped the kit when he saw that she was no longer there. He looked around frantically until he saw the faint blood trail leading to the radio room. He followed the trail and soon found Sparkle, "Sparkle there you are," he said, relieved to have found her, "you shouldn't be up. I know you want to have a look around here but please at least wait for me to mend your wounds."

Steel smiled "don't worry I won't be to tired to protect you" steel said as she stepped closer smiling and blushing slightly "if anything big mean and scary comes along I'll take care if it for you" steel said not even thinking of how it sounded he smiled happily as he walked

"Well if you're really sure about that." She said and softly nuzzled him reassuringly. "I'd prefer not to be used as bait too if that's at all possible." She said with a small smile. As they approached the mine Lily noticed that it wasn't boarded up like she thought it would be. The thought of the monster being outside too suddenly hit her but she tried to act cool and collected.

Steel faltered for a moment as she nuzzled him he played it off as though he hadn't almost missed a step he kept his cool and looked at the entrance "that's odd I figured it'd be borderd up or something" steel said as he pulled out a large coil of twine and tied one end to a pole "alright now we can explore with out worrying about getting lost oh and don't worry I don't use bait" he said

Lily giggled slightly when she noticed Steel almost trip but didn't otherwise say anything to him about it. She thought to herself that it seemed kind of cute actually. Lily watched him tie up the rope and started following him into the mine. "Well as long as I'm not on the list of things to use as bait, I'm pretty sure i'm not very tastey anyway."

Steel smiled "well I know of a few things that would like to get a hold of you" steel said "but I'll stop them if they try" steel smiled as he walked -I've been smiling an awful lot lately- steel thought -that's odd Demons don't smile why am I smiling so much? What's different now then all the other times I've hunted?- he lost himself in thought as he walked -lily she's the only thing that's different is either her or simplely being with another pony-

" I'm helping " Sparkle said looking towards Mist "and I found something" Sparkle pointed to a small crack running through the room "it wasn't there last night Mist but I can't tell how old it is though." She looked back towards Mist and saw the first aid kit and sighed "I guess injurys of a pony that matter to you come first"

" I'm helping " Sparkle said looking towards Mist "and I found something" Sparkle pointed to a small crack running through the room "it wasn't there last night Mist but I can't tell how old it is though." Lily noticed that Steel was smiling again. She thought it odd after the way he had cut up the blanket earlier she threw on him just by being nice. She got a weird look on her face as she remembered that and decided very firmly not to mention anything about it. She enjoyed her wings attached to her body. "Well the only thing i can think of would be the monster, is there anything else here I should know about that might try to kill me?"

Steel thought for a moment "I don't come up north very often so I'm not sure although I do know that imps from the ninth ring would feel right at home here" steel said "any demon form the ninth ring in fact" he had noticed the odd face "umm quick question what's with the odd expression" he asked

As Sparkle got up Mist followed her to the radio room. He heard a rumble and saw the crack open up, "well at least we know that the crack is relatively new."

As Sparkle got up Mist followed her to the radio room. He heard a rumble and saw the crack open up, "well at least we know that the crack is relatively new."

" firstly seriously!? And secondly have you got a torch or something Mist? Or we could try and open it by hoof... Or wing? Or you could think of something? " Sparkle said looking inside the cupboard for the case the level of dust making her cough as it got caught in her breath

Mist left and went upstairs to the room he had slept in the previous night. There he found a small torch he had brought with him for the trip. He returned to Sparkle and turned on the torch. "There we go, now we should be able to shed some light on the situation."

"Firstly, yes I am serious about having medical training. That's how I know you should probably stay away from that dust if it's making you cough. Secondly I think I might have a torch somewhere upstairs." Said Mist as he turned to leave the radio room, "wait here I'll be right back." Mist left and went upstairs to the room he had slept in the previous night. There he found a small torch he had brought with him for the trip. He returned to Sparkle and turned on the torch. "There we go, now we should be able to shed some light on the situation."

" hey thanks now just stick it down into the crack and look for something that could be making it expand " Sparkle opened up the box and when she did she screamed and said "m...Mist I don't think the mayor will be coming back to town anytime soon " she handed him the box it contained one note (written in blood), a picture of the basement and a picture of the mayor... Dead
