SilverStarApple 849 September 12, 2015 Share September 12, 2015 Hi, I'm coding my OC into Mugen, which is also known as M.U.G.E.N.. I don't have a laptop or PC right now, so I'm currently writing out the scripting and coding for his more coding-heavy attacks, like a certain one of his supers that will be a pain to code. I'll work on the spriting and other things when I get a laptop, and upload videos of him fighting other characters. Anyway... I noticed a trend in the Mugen community. (I lurked using my text-only browser to save mobile data, reading threads reviewing or mentioning mlp characters.) It seems bronies aren't exactly liked by the Mugenites. A review for an admittedly badly-coded and somewhat cheap Octavia dissed the concept of MLP characters in general, and according to the wiki, one mugenite created a Pinkie Pie character that cannot attack and can only be beaten up withput fighting back. I plan on making my Silver Star Apple OC playable in Mugen, but... is it worth it? And if I do so, will people like my character, or hate it simply because it's a pony? By the way, once I finish my Silver Star Apple... It's apparently a common practice in the Mugen community to do "Character commissions", paying a skilled character-maker to code your requested character into the game while making custom sprites for him/her, and so on. Would anyone with OCs be interested in having their OCs playable in Mugen, where they can fight Twilight Sparkle, Ryu, Ken, Homer Simpson, Barrack Obama, Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Superman, Goku, Godzilla, Chuck Norris, Pikachu, and more? Who is your OC, and what would his/her moveset be? Also, where does he/she fit on the sliding scale of speed to power? Because mugen is a PC game and what buttons get used will depend on what settings the player has, please set out your moveset in Super Smash Bros/Street Fighter form. Up-B, LP+LK, and so on. As for the hating thing... I wouldn't say they hate us, but the common belief seems to be that all MLP characters in the game suck. Apparently, they hadn't seen the Fighting Is Magic ones. Speaking of which, I'm not sure whether I'll sprite my character in as a pixellated sprite, or a collection of vector-looking images. As for the hating thing... If you want to do it, I'd say go for it cause you'll probably learn a lot and you'll have made something for yourself. People are always going to find something to complain about, just worry about what you want first. What is Mugen? It has a very large anime fanbase. It's basically a fan-made 2D fighting game with an unlimted roster. You just need basic coding skills, and a basic understanding of fighting game mechanics. But for a more mechanically complex character, like the one I'm making, you'll need more advanced coding tricks. 2 I was dead until the moment I met you. Octavia has phenomenal potential as a fighter, and every time I envision it, I cannot help but think of the brilliance that is Fighting is Magic. Especially her battle theme...is love is life. Unfortunately I feel you are going to get some flack simply for using a pony. At least, that seems to be my general experience when I dare show brony tendencies elsewhere on the internet.
