The wind howled across the hills at the edge of Whitetail Woods. Scootaloo drew a toboggan behind herself, the straps lain over the magenta scarf she wore to cushion it.

The pegasus turned her head to look to her two friends, Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle. "Come on you guys! Ungh! The perfect tobogganing hill is just over this way!" she urged.

Sweetie bell hesitated. "I dunno Scootaloo... Rarity said that i'm not allowed to do anything dangerous..." Said Sweetie belle. Not trusting that this plan was going to end in a succes. She looked back at Apple bloom. "How about you Apple bloom? Does Apple Jack aproove of this?" Asked Sweetie

Apple Bloom rolled her eyes at Sweetie Belle's uncertainty as she helped Scootaloo push the toboggan up the hill. "Sweetie Belle," she chided her. "Y'all worry too much! This is the only way we're gonna find out if we'll ever get our cutie marks in tobogganing! I reckon Applejack's done some crazy things when she was a filly, too." Apple Bloom felt a chill as the wind picked up, clasping a hoof against her scalp to keep her bow from blowing away. "How much further, Scoots?" she asked.

"Please, Sweetie Belle," Scootaloo rolled her eyes. "It's just the biggest hill around Whitetail Wood. It's not like it's a mountain or near the Everfree. Learned my lesson last time."

Scootaloo's ears pressed against her head as the wind howled. "What?!" she shouted to Apple Bloom as she spoke, but then, given the context, she figured it was about the hill. "It's just over this one," she called.

 

She led them to the crest, where she swept a hoof at her discovery. "Ta'da!" She declared proudly. "Welcome to the premier, most awesome and tallest tobogganing hill this side of Equestria."

 

The hill was truly mighty, perhaps once having pretensions of being a mountain, but falling short by several degrees. It was easily four times taller than any building in Ponyville, with a steep rise that promised unparalleled speed. Fresh pristine snow draped over every inch of it, and beyond, the Whitetail Woods stood as tranquil shelter from the wind. "This is gonna be great," said Scootaloo, as she began to make her ascent to the top of the hill.

Sweetie Belle sighed. "Alright... If you say so" Said Sweetie and began trotting towards scootaloo. She looked at the hill. It was pretty big. Too big. Sweetie gulped and looked around clearly nervous. "U-uhm girls. Can't we try something else?" Asked Sweetie. Hoping that they would agree

Apple Bloom followed Scootaloo further up the hill until the two fillies placed the toboggan at the crest. She then stared down at the hill with the snow-covered trees of Whitetail Woods standing erect at the base. A lump slithered down her throat but she still grinned, keeping her spirits up. "All right, Scootaloo!" she called. "I reckon this may be our best crusadin' attempt yet!"

Apple Bloom glanced toward Sweetie Belle who was still having second thoughts about the downward journey. "Nowhere else to go but down, Sweetie Belle," she told her. "Unless ya'll would rather freeze like an ice cream cone on the moon of course!"

With the toboggan in place and her two friends on board, Scootaloo took her place at the back. Her wings thrummed as she pushed the toboggan before jumping on herself. The wind was again howling as they roared down the hill at breakneck speed. At the bottom of the hill, the toboggan continued for some distance before finally grinding for a halt amidst the trees.

 

Scootaloo looked to her flank, and her face fell as she saw it was still very much the blank orange it had been through her life. "No luck here, how about you guys?" she asked.

Apple Bloom stared down at the hill, her adrenaline pumping as Scootaloo pushed the toboggan toward the edge of the hill. When she hopped on to begin the ride, Apple Bloom screamed as their sled darted left and right down the snow. She got over her fear quickly and gained control of the toboggan. "Yee-haw!" she yelled, raising her hoof and waving it in the air. The sled took a sudden turn, forcing her to grapple the edge with both forelegs.

 

Finally, the toboggan came to a stop near the trees marking the edge of Whitetail Woods. When Scootaloo checked her flanks for her cutie mark, so did she and they both frowned when they saw the result. "Me. neither," she sighed. "What about you, Sweetie Belle?"

Sweetiebelle checked her flank, and was met with disapointment. "No... I didn't get mine either" Muttered Sweetie saddened. She looked at her friends. "What do we do now?" Asked Sweetie curiously, as she fixed some of her mane

While her friends had been bemoaning their lack of new cutiemarks, Scootaloo had a brilliant idea for her own cutiemark. She had built up a small hill of snow before her using her hooves and wings as an impromptu shovel. When Sweetie Belle had asked what they would do at that moment, Scootaloo pulled back a hoof, snowball cupped on it, and shouted, "Cutie Mark Crusader Snowball Warriors!" With that, she launched the snowball towards Applebloom, laughing as she did so.

Apple Bloom had no time to react as a mound of snow pelted her in the face. Through her lowered brow, she saw Scootaloo laughing, proud of her surprise attack on the farm filly. "All right!" she barked, wiping the snow off her face. "I reckon you realize that this means war!" She gathered up more snow along the ground, building a fort made completely of powder before turning to Sweetie Belle. "Okay, Sweetie Belle, whose side are you on?"
