Male characters.

What do you think? Should the male characters get equal development to the females?

I am not sure on where I stand when it comes to that sort of question. SHOULD they? It depends on how you look at it.

 

Not all the female characters get great development as many may think. It's more focused on the main cast and perhaps a few of the b-cast such as the cutie mark crusaders and Princess Luna. Others like Princess Celestia, even Cadence don't even have good development. The mane cast are females.....and as far as I'm concerned they are the only ones who gets all the screen time and development as it SHOULD be. If there is one good male character that receives great development it's Discord. Spike, despite the fact he doesn't grow exceptionally throughout the series, receives a little development as well. 

 

But the show does not focus on them. it doesn't even focus on "females" as many see it. It focuses on the mane 6. The fact that they are female doesn't even matter in my opinion. Had they been male characters, this question would have been flipped.

I would say that, yes. Even celestia herself has only a supporting role. 

 

And I already mentioned spike received a little development. Has he grown.....eh not as he should have with it being 5 seasons already. But you'd expect that. The show is about them...not him, not anyone actually. The CMC are the only supporting characters that has gotten close to an equal amount of development alongside the Mane 6

I don't know, I think we've gotten some good development out of Discord and Big Macintosh. I mean this show will (Hopefully) always be based around our mane characters but it would be nice to see Shining Armor and Spike get some more development and having a more time devoted to Big Mac and Discord is no problem in my eyes.  As for new characters, eh we'll see I suppose.
