Vulcan 3,254 November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 (edited) Best way to start (especially if you have no prior knowledge), In my opinion, Start with a base, pick a pony position from multiple one's available online, >you may search google images for words like sleepy pony base, excited pony base etc. If your OC has some accessories, specif hair, clothing etc. have references on your screen as you draw >same as above, google images is your friend. Using a pencil draw the base as best you can doesn't have to be perfect it's your first time >If you really can't draw it then print it using a fairly thin bondpaper then draw trace from the back of it. Add the accesories , hair , etc, >This one solely depends on your creativity and drawing capabilities so I can't help you much there, remember to use the references , they're very helpful. I as well, but I consider it like training wheels...no that doesn't sound cool enough... they're like training chain saws and I felt the poster might want to start from there

That's a pretty good advice.
AmberDust 1,118 November 14, 2015 Share November 14, 2015 (edited) I think what's better than a base would be a geometric breakdown of whatever you're drawing. It's easier to draw something when it's been turned into simple shapes, like lines, circles, and squares! This is actually something we practised in my Observation Drawing Class in University this year. Here's an example: When you know how something works, and understand proportions, it becomes easier to draw. Try it. Edited November 14, 2015 by AmberDust 3 Need help with your OC?
