Waitaminute. We definitely will be seeing alicorn Sunset Shimmer in Equestria

Ok, so while I was re-eading IDW comic's MLP "Reflections" arc, and trying to figure out how ol beardybutt's mirror worked, merged worlds, and whatnot, I think I came across the answer that could play out in Equestria's near future. There has been speculation that Sunset would return, and that her human counterpart may be living in Equestria already, while pony Sunny is in the human world.

 

In issue 20, FiM's Sunbutt comes through the portal from good King Sombra's wofld, and once she does, the mane 6 see evil King Sombra's in the mirror's reflection- in spite of the good Sombra from that AU not yet having turned evil. (But the Sombra from FIM already had been dealt with by the 6, before Reflections) So the mirror was showing them an event happenning in an AU that had yet come to pass.

 

Similarly, in "the fall of Sunset Shimmer", Sunset looked into the mirror portal that Sunbutt kept, and saw herself as an evil alicorn. Here's the thing, I don't hink she fully understood how the mirror worked. While she WAS ambitious and think she deserved to be an alicorn, Sunset never would've become that, unles - like Twilight or Cadance, performed some great magical feat, and unlocked the alicorn gene in herself. The evil alicorn she saw in the mirror had to have been showing another event from an alternate world that had yet come to pass- AU (human) Sunset finding way to Equestria and becoming evil alicorn (while pony Sunset misinterpreted that, and headed to the AU, and eventually turned good)

 

What's more, in "Reflections", it seemed like the longer someone from a foreign dimension stays in a world they don't belong in, the higher chance the worlds of their own, and the AU they're in will try to merge, as Sunbutt caused to happen to hers and AU Sombra's worlds. Starswirl sent the Sirens from his world over into the human world, and they've been there for a while now- Sunset, too. So the worlds should be merging, or merged already, and if portals can act with sentience, sucking ponies back across dimensions, as seen at the conclusion of "Reflections", then surely human Sunset is, in fact, in the pony world, somewhere, as that evil alicorn pony Sunset saw in the mirror, when she was studying under Sunbutt.

 

And no doubt pony unicorn Sunset will have to return to Equestria and beat down herself (human) evil alicorn Sunset, once she comes out the woodworks, and send her back to the human world, where human Sunny would have to learn friendship from the SciTwi and the mane 5.

 

What are your thoughts on this very likely possibility?

While plausible the theory, we have to take into account the comics are subject to be contradicted by the show, which have been subtlety shown many times, like the CMCs disliking Discord in the show when the comics they had a FF issue earlier. But this last episode was less subtle in the contradictions, as

 

Sombra's purpose into enslaving the crystal ponies in the comics was to free the Umbrum, but in the show, is to brainwash and send them into an all out war against Equestria

. Though, her music video earlier this year where she transform into a phoenix-super saiyan, and Daydream Shimmer in Friendship Games, both gaining wings, might hint she'll become an alicorn next time she feels like having four legs again

in the show, CMC never met Discord in the flesh, yet, from what we've seen. The only time that WE know for certin, is when he was still imprisoned in stone, in the Canterlot gardens. The FF comic has them knowing Discord after he had been released. The show never once contradicts the comic, there, since that FF isdue came later.

In fact, in just recently as "The mane attraction", the show has proven that seperate canon outside the series is canon, since Pinkie's Rockin ponypalooza was referenced.

So, Sunset Shimmer and what goes on in the comic canon and movie canon should be tied to show canon, also, if the chapter books are.
