Ezynell 2,037 November 19, 2011 Share November 19, 2011 (edited) Is there a way that you can group notifications? For example, when I am following a topic and overnight, 15 people post in it, how could I get 1 notification saying "Jimmy, Bobby, Billy, and etc. replied to Random Thread" instead of 15 notifications saying "Jimmy replied to Random Thread" "Bobby replied to Random Thread" "Billy replied to Random Thread" so on and so forth. Also, when somepony quotes your post in a thread your following for it to say "Jimmy quoted a post you made in Random Thread" instead of "Jimmy quoted a post you made" "Jimmy replied to Random Thread" Biggest I think, is with replies to statuses, but I'm not gonna put an example because I'm pretty sure you get the idea by now. Thank you for your thoughts, this would be a helpful addition to the cite! Edited November 19, 2011 by Ice GAK
ProjectRKA 2,848 November 19, 2011 Share November 19, 2011 That would be so awesome. Having 80 to 100+ notifications when you log on is really a PITA.
Zoop 8,384 November 19, 2011 Share November 19, 2011 I sidestep this issue by using the view new content link coupled with the 'content I have not read' and/or 'new since my last visit' filters - in my opinion there's no real need to follow most threads when you can use those filters to quickly look through threads that have new posts in them. Thread following, in my opinion, is best saved for exceptional cases.

Yes, it ruins the "follow threads you comment on" option, which I previously had on GAK
Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,527 November 20, 2011 Founder Share November 20, 2011 This is currently not possible in IP.Board, but I've seen it suggested around their official forums before. I think I recall one of the lead developers explaining that they'd have to tear up and practically rewrite the notifications system to make it possible to "group" notifications together. I wish it didn't send out a million notifications for a single thread, either, but I believe setting a followed thread to notify you "only when not online" is a nice compromise, as it only sends out one notification until you read the thread again. I've just decided to stop following RP threads. That cut it down significantly GAK
