Trixie and The Cutie Remark

Since no version of current equestria as shown in the S5 finale featured any apparent negative effects from still having an "unreformed" Trixie, should we take it as canon that had she never met the Mane 6 and her ego remained unchecked, pretty much nothing bad would have happened, or did they simply forget about her?

 

In Boast Busters she was just a bit of an ass (Donkey Puns not intended) with an overblown sense of self worth compounded by showmanship. The Mane 6 themselves though were not exactly diplomatic in their dismissing of her claims, or the way they interrupted her show. It was Snips and Snails who put the town in danger by bringing the Ursa - and received moustaches as their punishment?? - and apparently only Trixie who suffered as a result, due to being unable to continue her career afterwards. So it would seem without that particular encouter she probably would have just carried on performing shows with the same attitude, perhaps casuing minor annoyance across equestria, but wouldn't have had motive to track down the alicorn amulet and return with scores to settle.

 

Personally I hope it was an intentional decision by the writers rather than an oversight when they included pretty much all antagonists including Flim Flam

Honestly trixie had more evil potential than the flim flam brothers, as she at least showed having knowledge of where to buy dangerous magical objects and being unhinged enough to seek revenge if humiliated.

Why the heck flim and flam were shown to cause an apocalypse but not trixie boggles my mind...

She can be seen in the background when Chrysalis disguised as Applejack appears at the haven.

They didn't cause an apocalypse, they just jumpstarted an industrial revolution. All the trees were being cut, and the sky was filled with smoke. Terrible for the environment and badly clashes with how Ponyville usually is, but not an apocalypse.

 

And I think since we already basically got a good picture of what a future where Trixie ruled would be like (the same way Ponyville looked in Magic Duel), and maybe even because Flim and Flam are just conponies that shouldn't be big threats that the staff went with showing how a scenario where they somehow won out went.

I think the main difference between Trixie and the Flim-Flam Brothers is this:

 

Trixie: While it can be argued she was in full control of herself after losing the Alicorn Amulet to Zecora; she still sought Twilight for forgiveness in the end. Add in her appearances in the comics and it's safe to assume that she had a redeemable quality even with her smug sense of self satisfaction.

 

Flim-Flam: Without the need of a dangerous artifact and in full conscience pretty much allowed Granny Smith to fall to either severe injury or death. Add in the fact that they assisted Sombra and Chrysalis in the Siege of the Crystal Empire arc (granted somewhat out of fear after Sombra appeared) and The Cutie Remark shows them to be enjoying the destruction they are causing puts them on a much more detestable level than Trixie ever was; IMO.

Had Trixie not been "stopped" when she first arrived in Ponyville, at best she would've carried on with her magic show career, and at worst she might've been killed by the Ursa Minor.

 

Her latter incident with the Alicorn Amulet wouldn't have happened without the Mane 6's (honestly unnecessary) earlier intervention.

What he said.  Twilight actually made Trixie a villain.  No Twilight, no Alicorn Amulet.  If anything was different, Trixie might have been killed trying to stop the Ursa Minor that the unpunished village idiots unleashed

One still has to wonder about equestria where you can walk into a shop and buy a "Turn yourself into a supervillain" artifact with the money from ONE YEAR of presumably minimum wage pay working on a farm.

 

That'd be like us selling powered armor down at wal-mart for 5k.

Yeah, the shopkeeper seemed to know what it was, and would have known it's value. So either he just really wanted to see somepony use it (due to being a Discordesque kind of guy), or he's a big Trixie fan/stalker with ulterior motives for helping her. Which would also answer how she knew he had it in the first place, when obviously no one else did
