Subtle(?) Fix for the Name Changing Confusion in Topics

Hey all.

So I was looking around, and it seems like other people also share my confusion with who's who when people are prone to changing their names. I've also seen that most suggestions to fix this are to either take away some of the pros of changing names, or suggest something that is a bit more... blatant/permanent?

I get that changing your name is an awesome and fun aspect of the site, and the last thing I want to do is detract from that. Though, I'd like to find a way to make name changing a little less confusing.

To me, I think part of the issue is that not everyone wants to have to go through someone's profile (probably not for the first time) to look for their name history, or isn't aware of it being there. It could very well be one of those areas where the internet has spoiled us, and adding a few extra clicks, or requiring us to open a new tab (or go forward and back) makes it feel like a hassle, even if it really isn't.  :derp: Though there's always the possibility I speak for the absurdly lazy minority, perhaps a minority of one pony named SFyr.

Anyways, my idea is to basically go from this:

To this:

Clicking the little downward arrow would open the name history; it's only one click, easy to find yet easy to ignore (I think), and doesn't change the current name changing system while making it easier to tell who's who on a topic (without having to diverge into profile pages).

Just tossing this out for consideration is all. :P
