What is it about MLP that inspires so much fan content?

MLP fan content appears to cover everything from original music to countless fanfiction to a number of brony analysts. It seems every meme in existence is ponified eventually (not sure if that's good or bad), and i've heard somewhere that MLP has more fan made content than Star Trek. So why is this? MLP is a very good cartoon but there are other cartoons past and present that are of similar or better quality. What is it that drives bronies to be so inspirational?

Because they are ponies which magically achieve the impossible of being awesome to men without guns,explosions or alcohol involved...

There are countless ways of looking at it. For everyone. You could write a novel about it, and never do it justice.

 

Maybe the show's joyful nature inspires passion. Maybe it drives people to achieve fulfillment. It could be a channel for pre-existing talent. It could be the desire to contribute and be part of something that fascinates. Maybe the work of artists inspired EVEN MORE artists. Some people may just want to pitch in and have fun, others may do it for attention.

 

The possibilities are endless.

I think because they appear at first to be relatively easy to draw, resulting in fan art. Their characters have simple life histories meaning viewers easily feel like they know them very well, enough to predict or guide their actions in original story writing. Which I might add, that because of their simple personalities, it seems there is a need (and much potential) for expanding their experiences beyond the boundaries of the cartoon which can be done without stretching their character too far from original personalities. Their color combinations are simple yet endless, and coupled with idea of the cutie mark being whatever makes them special appeals to the viewer and provides an outlet for individualism and expression. I just think theyre awesome, and that naturally draws flattery in the form of imitation.

Because the show is so good, it drives a lot of us to make pony related content

 

Some of us love it so much and are obsessed with it.. and the world that they live in..

Some of us like to point a bit of fun at it, for the sake of humor, and not to dis MLP..

In any case.. MLP:FiM remains something that moves the community and gives us

the inspiration to create awesome things

 

There are some factors that promotes sharing content:

 

They are toony and easy to draw, so that helps heaps in making art not so tedious to create

The community is very friendly and accepting.. so most content you'd share will have more positive feedback from others

As the brony fandom is one of the biggest fandoms known to many, it's understandable that there would be a LOT of shared content it.
